Imagine the hardware you would need to run it.
All you would need is a bigger hard disk. And maybe some more DVDs. If they used the Oblivion engine to make this game, it would run on your current system.

P.S.: The problem with building all of Tamriel isn't a technical one. The problem is simply the time and money it would take to develop it. Imagine all the quests, NPCs, items, landscapes, dungeons, dialogs, etc... that need to be made. If they were to do that, they would need at least as much time as Duke Nukem Forever . Probably more, because by the time they've finished all of the above, the graphics would be out-dated.

Most of you are used to High End Computers, and Gaming Consoles.

Those of us ancient folks, who have played games, where you had to change disks... (Floppy Disks, not CD's) ...in the middle of playing... Several times...

That's what would happen if they did All of Tamriel. Oblivion is only about 25% of Tamriel (land mass), clocking in at about 6 Gb... so you would be looking at around 24+ Gb, probably a bit more.

Then there is the time, which calculates into money... Which would probably put the game at around $200+... Taking about 10 years to make.

Then lets look at the bug/glitches... multiply that by about 4, or 6 even...???

Like I said, it's only a hard disk issue, hardware-wise. Installation would take pretty long to copy all that data from several DVDs to the hard disk. However, I think 24 GB, even 100 GB data shouldn't be a problem. Even 500 GB hard disks are pretty cheap nowadays.

The only problem lies within development.

um, I personally think a futuristic or mmorpg elder scrolls would suck out loud. i like single player games and so few good ones are made now.

I'd like to see a 'fallen god' type of elder scrolls where you had to start as nothing and work your way to divinity. Not like shivering Isles though, in that it seemed like a kind of bounus, a game where your main quest tasks revolved around the other gods testing you in various random ways, similar to the Daedric Shrines but bigger and better.

I see what's meant by elder scrolls open-style gameplay in a shoot-em-up though. Imagine working your way through a gang affiliated abandoned wearhouse instead of a mine or a fort and instead of an enchanted sword you get a kickass machine gun or something, or getting contracts from distressed npcs that you can find dotted about in various places. Could be pretty damn good.
