Walk around close to that portal, he's just slow and a bit blind, he'll get there soon enough ;)

Portal

Post by B.C »

Thanks. I have been doing this - seems like he is just standing right there in front of it waving his arms around. Seems like the video is in a loop but I can still move around and have left to do other quests in frustration.

That really sounds like some kind of bug then, you should try loading from a save before entering the cellar/house.

On the 360 the damn Altmer would not move for me either he just sat there and every time I talked to him he whined like a baby that he stuck himself in his own crap. Afte I got the orbs and he started to remember I had to push him around the room and then he finally went through the portal. Altmer's so tall and smug, but simply stupid in my Dunmer mind. They are my favorite to kill.
I will not conform to my enviornment, rather I will change it and mold it to my desire.

I played this quest (on the 360), and he was there for about a full minute or two before he got the stupid thing open. Really, if he weren't the only person on the planet that could open that door, I'd run him through with my dwarven longsword. Go back there, make sure you can see him, and go make a sandwich is my recommendation.

Nah, BLT is best. But honestly, he does take his time, be patient. And is he an Altmer? Looked very much an Imperial in my game.

Hey Guys

I have been back several times but the [&@%!] is not there. Seems I spent my 5000 in gold for little gain. Wish there was a work around to open the portal.

The software is very buggy on PC - should have got a 360.

How long did you wait for him the first time you were there? You might have gotten impatient and left and messed up the quest. You might want to check the Count's Arms in Anvil or the Elven Gardens District of the Imperial City for the guy. Those are the only two places I've ever seen him.

I seriously sat around and watched him grope the wall like a creepy dude with an asian fetish for a minute or two (of real time) before he got the secret door open and sprinted out of there.

Waiyed at least 10 minutes for him groping along the wall. Seemed like he got stuck and I could not move him. The video of him seemed to loop. Anyone know if you can find him again? He hasn't been there last few times I visited the house.

Does your quest compass point you towards him?

No compass did not. I finally found the problem. Benirus was trapped behind the wall in Lorgren's crypt. I had to use a cheat to get him to respawn on my side of the sealed portal. He then opened the portal and I could complete the quest

Hope this helps if anyone else comes acros this bizzare glitch.

Hi first post here.

Coincidentally I did this last night. He waved his arms around and around until I went up and talked to him. Then he said something about it being too scary for him in there and he has getiing out of there just as soon as he got the portal open, and then promptly opened it and fled.

So try talking to him and he should then open it. Worked like that twice for me.

The first time i did this part he stood there waving his arms around too. Try talking to him and if that doesnt work rest like an hour or 2 then talk to him again and it should work...
