I find the best class type for the hardest difficulty is a marksman/mage hybrid. Marksman, Sneak, and Conjuration are a must. When raiding forts I try to find an area where enemies can't reach me, high up areas are best, then use a poisoned sneak attack with a bow on the enemy, then summmon something to help. Also you can summon whilst remaining hidden, the enemy won't know you're there, they'll just kill the summoned creature. Just keep summoning until the enemy is dead. Never take on enemies in groups. Paralyze spells are also very useful.

Most of this stuff is probably in the link posted earlier but I havnt read it so forgive me for repeating :D

After playing Oblivion modded with Oscuro, I replayed the game setting the difficulty slider to 80%...I found the experience to be altogether different than standard difficulty, and made the game extremely immersive, comparing favorably with OOO. I had little problem in surviving, but I strategized to include followers and work my conjuration skills up fast: at least they "kill" as they would at any difficulty. I also did the Mage's guild recommendation quest as fast and as early as possible to gain access to enchanting. In addition, worked hard on my armorer skills (repairing as much equipment of my own and the dead (and then dropping them from inventory)...so I had 125% weapon effectiveness at 75. Always difficult though for me to know how to prioritize my skills, since I tend to focus on blade and blunt, but chose a sign which boosts Magicka ie, the Mage, so I am a balanced warrior and mage at the same time.
