Sure... Lets add guns to Skyrim.
Why dont we add massive amounts of brown and bloom too?

Re: Would guns in Skyrim really be that bad?
I don't think any technical explanation of how guns could come into existence will suffice for anyone who opposes them being in the game. Guns just don't fit the TES vibe for many people. No amount of logic will do here. I'm one of those people that would rather have aliens from space (long as they don't have guns
) than guns in my ES. I wish I had some kind of logic to hold up a statement like that but it's all opinionated feelings.

Re: Would guns in Skyrim really be that bad?
I like the idea and all, but, I just can't see it (guns) in a game like Elder Scrolls. Maybe cannons for castles and stuff, but I'm thinking hand cannons can be a bit overpowered. Hand Cannons could be an artifact thing, BUT, I think you should need to make the ammo yourself.

a quest where you find a non-working unfinished gun and its schematics inside a dwemer ruin and then spend the rest of the quest fixing it would be the only good way to implement guns i think... and it would have to be a hard quest with a boss robot or something.

That's a pretty awesome idea Seren. I would take that if it was going to be the only gun in the gameSeren Goroeswr wrote:a quest where you find a non-working unfinished gun and its schematics inside a dwemer ruin and then spend the rest of the quest fixing it would be the only good way to implement guns i think... and it would have to be a hard quest with a boss robot or something.

the bos would have the last piece and possibly instructions on how to craft ammo. since the dwemer had large mecha this really isnt that far fetched for the elder scrolls world dont you think? ^_^

Yeah, they did make plans for the huge Animundium robot didn't they? So guns I'm sure wouldn't be that difficult for such advanced tiny people

Re: Would guns in Skyrim really be that bad?
I wouldn't what them in skyrim simply because it doesn't suit the place... BUT I wouldn't mind, and even approve of them in a place like Hammefall or Cyrodil. So yeah I would want guns, just not in Skyrim >.<

Then you're just back to crossbows and slingshots again...Lindai wrote:Remember those traps you'd find in forts in ES IV? The one's that shot thorn-like projectiles at you?
How were they shot? Seeing as there was never really a "bang" when they shot out, then they could have been..spring activated perhaps? Would spring activated weapons in Skyrim be all that bad?
Anyway, the problem with guns is that TES has always had a medieval setting, and guns just don't go with the whole "medieval feel" of the game. If they do add anything like that, it should be something similar to the way you acquire daedric artifacts. There should be a quest involved and there should only be one.
I do like the ideas of trebuchets and other powerful ballistics, but If they added cannons, then there would be the question "why do they not have guns if they have gunpowder?"

Re: Would guns in Skyrim really be that bad?
I agree that the number of guns should be limited, and that they are strictly a new technology at this time so they'd need to be somewhat crude, need constant maintenance, and perhaps a little more challenging to use.
But I would want to see more than one of them, since this technology would be introduced as a means for a non-magic user (which do exist, no matter how easy it is to learn magic) to have some kind of long range ability that is superior in damage to a bow. If there were just one it would defeat the idea of developing the technology in the first place, that and it'll give the player an unfair advantage.
If munitions were to be introduced I want it to see as a new weapon, but not a prototype - perhaps only a handful of Marauder leaders or Raider boss would have them. Just so their would be some common ground.

Re: Would guns in Skyrim really be that bad?
A few people are saying its good for melee fighters, but I think if there were to be guns, it should definitely be a skill. We dont want to have another staff situation, where no matter what, the staff is inferior because you dont get any skills from it. Muskets and such could be their own skill of some sort.

Re: Would guns in Skyrim really be that bad?
It was canceled because apparently intel could create a better engine... I admit that the animations looked extremely cartooney, but the graphics and lighting, which are most likely better than crysis, would have revolutionized today's gaming. It had nothing to do with money, really, they just want to make people mad I guessWolfie wrote:the fact that it was canceled speaks voulemsBlackfire wrote:Wolfie wrote:Maybe if project offset wasn't canceled......

Yes, guns please. The start of science slowly choking out all magic from the world until there's nothing left, no more mages? I'm down for that, baby!

I know you're a necromancer kind of guy, so do you realize that guns would choke out necromantic magic also?KneelBeforeZod wrote:Yes, guns please. The start of science slowly choking out all magic from the world until there's nothing left, no more mages? I'm down for that, baby!

There is no exaggeration, here. I love Necromancy, but I'm willing to see it go in order for science to prevail.
