What is your favorite fort/mine/cave/ruin that you are never sent to as part of a designed quest? A place that has something interesting in it that would be worth check out?

Crayfish Cave (5 zones) - First time I visited it, I was around Level 40 or so, and scored something like 15 enchanted weapon/armour items from the containers. Best loot hoard I've ever collected from one dungeon! I haven't revisited yet, but it'll be well worth doing just to see if the quality of the loot drops is repeatable.

Kingscrest Cavern ,haven´t revisited in my current play yet, going to soon, good soulgem-filler with all those creatures in several levels, can be hard though, and it isn´t exactly quest realated inside that is,so it is pretty much safe that way.

Well if you want a place with good loot (In fact it has every item in the game), plenty of fun (an entire army of creatures from multiple species are warring here), and a great way to kill some time exploring its many many cells, I would suggest you visit the Test Hall. Not easy getting there without the console, but it is a good way to kill a real life day or two.

Lonely Grave. It's an unmarked place that I stumbled upon one day while exploring the Valus Mountains. You can read about it on the wiki: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Unmar ... nely_Grave

As for the best dungeon, I think Sideways Cave. Like many players it was one of the first caves I explored, and I got seriously confused when it linked up with (what I thought was) a secret part of Vilverin. I also really liked Black Rock Caverns and the freaky pirate ghosts, as well as all the goblin tribe lairs.

Further to my last post, I've been doing some reading on the Wiki. Crayfish Cave IS a quest location (for the Vampire Cure), but the quest-related section doesn't appear until you're doing the appropriate part of the quest. As such, the cave can be visited and cleared regardless, so I guess it counts as a non-quest location too. The same caveat would apply to all other locations where quest-related stuff doesn't appear until you're on the actual quest itself. :?

I forgot the name of it but you meet Lucien Lachance there. And what I like most about it is if you jump around the edges of the top where there is no roof you will come to a square made of gold coins with a ring in the middle of it.
If somethign doesn't look right look at it again.

But if you do that you waste more of you life.

Sideways Cave definitely. I remember trying to uncover the mystery and trying to find out what happened in there.

Lost Boy Cavern
It was huge. Started as a cave but later you could find an underground fort. There was also a story and kind-of-quest related to it which you could find from one journal. Finally, there I encountered my first lich ever, one with a story and name too.... and what made it more fun was that it was a friendly lich :D. (I later found out that the "quest" is aimed for characters at the level 23 or higher and because I was a low level character, the lich was non-hostile).
This was such a memorable place for me so it's definitely one of my favorites.

Definately Rockmilk Cave. I go there with an army of followers and have epic battles involving 3 teams, marauders, black bow bandits, and my team, always fun :D
Also I really like Vilverin, even if it is a bit of a noob dungeon, I still love the sheer content within it and the back story.

Oh, Rockmil Cave is that one? Then it's also one of my favorites. Couldn't remember the name before but my stealthy character had lots of fun watching them battle and whenever it looked like the fighting teams were too unbalanced (like 3 against 1), he changed the course of it by sniping them from the shadows :D.
