nerevarine and champion of cyrodil

Post by jygglag »

In Tribunal and Bloodmoon there are two prophecies made by Eno Romari and Oddfrid White-Lip, it state that the nerevarine wil become the champion of cyrodil.Other it may be just talking about the player, but it is possible that they are the same people.
May be he or she sent a people to Modryn Oreyn to give him the helm, go to akavir and a god clear his or her memory and place him in IC prison.

Big head may be remember nerevarine and he said grandpa necth in SI. M'iaq the liar is certainly no a normal people

Nah, I think the Nerevarine and the Champion of Cyrodiil are two different people. It's pretty clear that he/she has better things to do than go back to Cyrodiil (you did come from the Tamriel Hero Generation Facility - aka the Imperial City prison - after all). Not that I suppose the Nerevarine had a lot to do after fulfilling Azura's prophecy other than stick around Vvardenfell to kill off the Blight, crumble the Tribunal and pretty much unintentionally doom most of Morrowind...and then go to Akavir. Talk about getting bored, eh?

I don't recall these "prophecies," but if you want to think of it on grander terms, perhaps the Nerevarine's actions in Vvardenfell helped to enable the continuation of Cyrodiil and the rest of the Empire. After all, it'd be a little difficult to keep business going smoothly if the Sixth House took over - which is probably why Uriel Septim and the Blades sort of kicked the Nerevarine prophecy into gear. I would imagine he wouldn't have cared much if there wasn't something in it for him and the preservation of his Empire.

jygglag are you sure that those two people said you will become the champion of cyrodill? And even if they said, they might have been speaking to us, the players rather than the nerevarine about becoming champion of cyrodiil. Not a wrong prophecy. I have never seen a person who played morrowind but not oblivion.

That is the best way to interpret it.

The Nerevarine was enjoying his graduation from n00b to Ultimate Champion by backpacking Asia Akavir. So I'd imagine if the Nerevarine stuck around in Tamriel he would of become the Champion of Cyrodiil, but he apparently just could not care enough to stick around. Besides if he did stick around Bethesda would have to apply some kind of canon to events in Morrowind if you played through the sequel as the hero from the previous edition. How would you feel if what you were told never happened? Or more importantly all of the people complaining over the developers interpretation of events. It is easier to have a new hero for everyone is what I'm saying.

As far as the prophecy goes I do remember that but I don't think it meant the EXACT SAME person (in game of course) would be the nerervarine and champion of cyrodil. There's too much conflict between this as far as character creation. What if you play an Orc in morrowind (thusly being the nerervarine) and choose a bosmer in oblivion (being the champion of cyrodil) then there is a clear conflict. I'm also not sure how long after morrowind the events of oblivion take place (as I am the fabled morrowind player that has NEVER played oblivion) but I would assume the nerervarine would be long gone.

What I think this is is a type of Easter egg hinting that the nest elder scrolls would take place in cyrodil. Nothing more, nothing less

Well first and formost Im an xbox gamer and I have the 1st xbox and no 360 :( if I had 360 I'd probably play it. I also don't have PC that will run it.
I've watched people play through, I understand the lire behind it and there are things I like about (it's beautiful, the quests are more personal, I love the idea of killing someone with a poison apple, and I love the leveled loot, rings amulets etc.) but there are also things I don't like about it. Im sure everyones heard hardcore morrowind fans bash oblivion, Im not one but I don't like that they combined short and long blade into blade, completely makes short blades useless. I don't like that they put axe into blunt, an axe is not a blunt weapon. I don't like the fact that they took out thrown weapons. It's a great game, as all elder scrolls are, but I just prefer morrowind personally

Edit: on the short blade note, in morrowind if your short blade was 100 or more, with it's base damage, enchantments and speed, the fang of hyakhtnamet (sp?) was effectively the best weapon in the game. You could pull off enough strikes to kill almost anyone in a shorter amount of time than it takes for the full enchantment of the gravedigger to kill an opponent, which has the highest combined damage in lithe game. It just seems in oblivion there there is no short blade worth using as there is no stat to govern JUST your shortblade. I don't believe (but Im probably wrong) that there even is a short blade with great stats and enchantments in oblivion

Cough Cough Ebony Arrows of Slaying Cough Cough

Okay seriously though those arrows can kill the Heart of Lorkhan in one hit. Nothing is stronger then them. I do agree that the Short Blades were rarely seen, even more rarely useful.

Yes the ebony arrows of slaying were the strongest but i mean as far as non thrown weapons go. And the fang isn't technically the strongest as far as damage off of one hit (that award goes to the gravedigger) but the fact that you can get about 4 hits off with the fang in the same time you can get 1 off with the gravedigger make it amazing. I never use the ebony arrows though, I just keep them for display.

What people forget about elemental damage is that it ISN'T increased by your Strength, whereas base weapon damage is.

Trueflame, for example, has a chop of 20-75 plus 30 fire. Stands to reason that with the fire you have a *0.4 increase in damage (meaning you should see the enemy's health bar lower by almost an additional half-again if you pull back all the way with every single chop).

Nope!

When I watch the enemy health bar while hitting a monster with no fire resistance, I see the fire damage do maybe 1/10th its health in damage, whereas the chop from Trueflame does almost half the rest of its health! This was with a character with exactly 100 Strength, which is a lot lower than I or most people play with (I almost always enchant an exquisite shirt, pants, and belt with CE Fort Str, mostly so I can carry more phat lewts :) ).

For shiggles, I modified Trueflame's enchantment to do 100 pts of fire with each strike, and even then doing the thrust attack (4-40) did twice as much damage as the fire!

Another thing I tried was whacking with a daedric battle-axe, and with a Str of 100 plus the exquisite clothes with CE Fort Str, I did 200+ damage with each and every strike. That experiment convinced me that it was utterly pointless to be a Destruction-focused war-wizard. There's no way they can compete with a guy who can pile on 200+ damage with three strikes, each doing all the damage instantly, when that wizard might be able to put on 100 pts of fire damage in the space of 2 seconds to do the hand-wave thing (oh and it takes another full second to do the damage, so the battle-axer has another two strikes, who can laugh at doing 1000+ damage in the time it takes your pathetic mage to do one-tenth that... oh and he doesn't have to worry about using up 50% of his magicka to kill anything stronger than a scamp, the spell being reflected back in his face against anyone worth worrying about, or enemies having "75% resist all weapon damage", etc). :(

Of course, this was against monsters, which have the serious, serious error of never having an armor rating, which is I think the biggest kick in the stones to mages, thieves, and anyone else who isn't a hulking warrior. Sure, that extra magic is great against heavily armored opponents, but unless you regularly fight ordinators (who have 75% resist fire anyway-- whoopsie!) that won't matter. And humanoids have such low health anyway, it takes the same number of swings to slay a 100 hp imperial knight as it is to take down a 400 hp violent beast of monstrous evil.

It'd be nice if spells and enchanted item damage was similarly multiplied by, I dunno, Willpower (or Intelligence for enchantments) but they aren't. THAT'S something Bethesda needs to look into for Skyrim, big time. Although in my experience, playing Oblivion as a Destruction-focused war-wizard doesn't suck nearly as bad as it does in Morrowind (not even counting the ability to wield weapons or hold shields, and being able to cast almost as fast as you could swing your sword, oh and magicka regeneration, which in my opinion is THE BEST improvement Oblivion has over Morrowind as you can finally play a character archetype without shooting yourself in the foot)... but I digress.

So anyway, I see the extra shock damage from the Fang as "Oh wow your little poker can actually do a third as much damage as my daedric battle-axe rather than one-fifth! Enjoy it being reflected back in your face whenever you fight anyone you might actually worry about killing quickly!" I mean c'mon people, please stop gushing over elemental damage on weapons. Saying that the Fang is now equal to the Paladin's Blade makes you look like you Did Not Do The Research... or ever actually play Morrowind. Real stuff to put on weapons is stuff like paralysis or damage attribute (a one-two punch of Damage Strength + Agility means they don't hurt you as bad when they hit you, oh and they can't hit you as much thanks to lowered agility, and you can knock them on their butt more often [or hit them easier if you're one of those players who don't spend the beginning of each and every game whomping on scribs and mudcrabs until their chosen weapon skill is 70+ just to avoid the terrible annoyance of missing enemies in melee]! Throw on Damage Luck for extra insult! Another combination is Damage Willpower + Paralysis, because less Willpower = easier to paralyze. I've tried Weakness to Magicka + Paralysis but that doesn't seem to help. Or you could do the standard Absorb Health on strike so you never, ever die. If you use the Morrowind Code Patch and tick the "Damage Fatigue spells can bring enemy fatigue below zero and thus they can be knocked down" option, use Damage Fatigue to... knock them down as if you had punched them with Hand-To-Hand. It is like Hand-To-Hand, without the suck! I like attaching a Restore Health on enemy along with Damage Fatigue so I can continually smack the fool while they're down, because I am incredibly mean. :Twisted Evil:)

Um... all I can think to say is, I see no reason why the Nerevarine and the Champion of Cyrodiil would be the same person. *shrugs*
