Spoiler:
Oh, I forgot that Antus was with Venim. I’ll edit my post.
Venim’s bullet hit the Xivilai directly - about 6 inches right of its spinal cord. The explosion of flesh caused by the gunshot left a gigantic splatter of the Daedra’s gore streaked across the top of the tower. Much of its rear ribcage had been shattered, and the bullet’s enchantment sent flames running across its body. Although the flames did little to harm its skin, it aggravated the gaping gunshot wound like never before. The Xivilai roared in agony.

Never had the monster possessed such anger.

Khazakra’s fireball then collided with the creature’s left leg, sending it spinning into the air. It fell off of the ledge, beginning a long and excruciating fall to the earth. It roared like a fiend from the lowest depths of hell before crashing into the solid ground of Nirn. When it crashed, the earth beneath the monster exploded, destroying everything and killing everyone within a 17-foot radius. An estimated 9 civilians and 12 Imperial Legion soldiers were killed by the flying bricks and debris caused by the Xivilai’s impact with the ground.

When the dust cleared, a gruesome sight was revealed. A cavernous pit surrounded by the bodies of dead civilians and Imperial Legionnaires had been implanted into the street. Inside the pit was the limp corpse of the Xivilai. The look of utter rage was still carved into its face. It was like something out of a horror novel. But the Daedra was dead…along with the many innocent people it had killed before the Witchhunters arrived to end its reign of terror.

__________

The Rex family’s armored carriage, followed by its escort of ten mounted soldiers, made its way through the darkened streets of the Imperial City. Franco, Isabel, Lucien, and Romulus remained silent. They had heard the ferocious roar of the Xivilai as it made its long and painful fall from the immense heights of White Gold Tower. Lucien was beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together. He knew his father was the cause of this horrid event…but he remained quiet and respectful as always.

The carriage’s driver avoided densely populated areas of the city in order to steer clear of large amounts of attention from the populace. The Rex family was arguably the most wealthy family in Tamriel. They were what everyone dreamed of being - unnaturally rich, good-looking, and powerful. But they were detested for it. Franco ran his many factories like slave markets, treating his millions of workers like rats. When the workers went on strike, he ordered his soldiers to fire upon the strikers. It kept the people in line. It kept their moral lower than ever. Gigantic slums had been created because of Rex Industries. Well over half of the population was living in poverty, and it was all due to Franco’s twisted methods of running business. Selfishness, arrogance, and greediness - this was how Franco Rex made a living for he and his family. And he never regretted it for a second.

Eventually, the carriage made its way to the outskirts of the city. It coasted along the ancient roads that led through the thick wilderness of the heartlands. The family’s woodland estate was located about 6 miles north of the city. It was nearly the size of Rex Manor itself, and it was well-guarded by a separate regiment of 80 private soldiers. Franco had most of his soldiers on guard at Rex Manor, but he had reserved an independent regiment for his woodland estate in case there was ever a need to flee to this location. Obviously, this was a very wise decision on his part. It would be at least a week before they would be able to return to the manor in the city.

The carriage and its soldier escort slowly made its way through the wilderness. The sounds of nature filled the air. Lucien's dog, Hannibal, barked at the noise outside. “Difficult times lay ahead.” Franco said calmly.
Spoiler:
As always, I have included a picture.
This is what Rex’s woodland estate looks like.

Murtagh watched the creature fall. He handed the sniper rifle to Monet, and turned to the others. Corsades was approaching him. They stood face to face for a minute.
"Badge," Pandora said, extending her hand.
Murtagh reached into his coat and produced the leather wallet that bore the sign of the Witchhunter.
"Guns."
Murtagh sighed, stripping the two pistols from their belts and handing them to Corsades. He then gave her all his spare ammo.
Pandora watched him for a second, then said, "I'm going to let you keep everything else. Only use it in the presence of Monet, though, otherwise you will be branded a sorcerer."
"Right," Venim said. He turned away. "I understand."

Spoiler:
I figure its probably about morning time right now. Murtagh, if you would like the night to continue, I will edit this post ASAP.
Every one of Franco’s soldiers stationed at Rex Manor was active. The entire property was still on complete lockdown. The soldiers patrolled the iron fences that encased the perimeter of the estate. At least 25 dogs had been released, sniffing out any wounded individuals and searching for any more intruders. The wounded were housed in the stables, guarded by a squadron of 20 soldiers.

Repairs had already begun. Numerous live-in workers carried boards, tools, and other supplies into and out of the manor itself. Never had the Witchhunters dared to outwardly attack Rex Manor.

It would never happen again.

__________

The Rex family’s armored carriage came to a halt in front of the large metal gate that spread across the path that lead to the estate itself. The ten mounted soldiers that had escorted the carriage to the region stopped behind it. The driver leaped to the ground from his seat. The two soldiers standing guard at the gate approached the carriage from each side. “Open the doors.” one of them ordered the driver.

“Yes, sir.” the driver replied. He opened one of the carriage’s doors.

The soldier was surprised to find the Rex family within the vehicle. “Master Rex?” he asked in shock.

“Open the gates.” Franco ordered. “Rex Manor has been attacked. We have fled to this location for safety.”

The soldier nodded respectfully. “OPEN THE GATES!” he shouted. The gates slid apart, allowing the carriage to pass. The gates then closed behind the vehicle.

Unlike Rex Manor, the Rex family’s woodland estate was not surrounded by large iron fences. It was located on high ground, granting its occupants an advantage of height if they were ever forced to combat an invader. The building itself was massive, and it had a clear view of a beautiful small lake seated behind the building. It was gorgeous.

The carriage, followed by its escort, made its way up the long path towards the mansion. The sun was rising. Its golden light reflected off the shining armor plates that covered every inch of the vehicle. Franco’s soldiers lined up at each side of the path, saluting the carriage and its escort as they passed with their rifles held upright and their feet close together. Eventually, the carriage reached the main entrance of the mansion. The mounted soldiers that had escorted the family dispersed shortly after.

The driver leaped to the ground and opened one of the doors. Romulus was the first to hop out of the vehicle, followed by Hannibal the dog. “Come now, Masters.” Romulus said to the family. Isabel, Lucien and Franco each stepped out in succession.

“I never thought I would return here.” Franco said to Isabel.

Isabel kissed her husband on the cheek. “Neither did I.” she said.

This was where Isabel gave birth to Lucien. She was in labor for 10 hours. It was a long process, but Franco was at her side the entire time. They had not returned here since. As a result, Lucien had never visited the place since he was a newborn and had no memory of the property whatsoever.

A soldier opened the doors to the entrance chamber of the mansion. Franco, Isabel, Lucien, and Romulus slowly entered.

Spoiler:
Sorry guys... life got in the way, I'll catch us up
Sayeal grinned at the arrogant [&@%!] standing in front of her. No matter what she wanted, however, she knew that she and Leel alone couldn't fight off six of Rex's well trained guards. She recognized this man from her time with Rex, he was usually the one with his hand on his gun, ready to send a bullet into her head. She had always regarded him as a bit of a trigger-happy moron, but in her experience, he was also a good shot. She sheathed her sword, nodded once to Leel, and once again spoke calmly.

"I understand. We had some information for your master, but I take it that if you're not at his side, he's likely not here, so we'll depart. I ask only that you keep your guns holstered as we leave. Leel didn't intend to insult you, he simply wished to express his opinion, which he is entitled to, whether you like it or not. We will take our leave now." She touched the hilt of her sword, and backed down the hallway, keeping her senses trained on the guards.

"come on Leel"

at the moment she spoke, an enormous, terrifying roar erupted from the air around them. Everyone froze, turning their head to find the source. The guards, recognizing that in a place like this, it could literally be anything, backed around the corner they had just turned, crouching behind ready-made fortifications to support their position. Sayeal took advantage of their innatention and moved quickly, grabbing Leel's arm and moving back through the room they had entered from. A series of crashes and screams sounded from the floors above as they made their way out of the underground passage. Sayeal found that the door she had used to enter had been re-locked, possibly one of Rex's spells that locked his mansion down. She knew she was a greater sorcerer than he was, but she couldn't counter his spell without removing the entire spell from the building. She would have to find another way out. As she tapped Leel's arm, she made her way across a side path. She refreshed her night-vision spell and stopped for a second, listening to that voice that now whispered into her mind. She felt a strong draw toward the right path at a nearby fork, so she followed it.

Overhead, the Xivali had just torn through the front gates, and was being pursued by the other witch-hunters. Sayeal and Leel travelled through the tunnels, moving through until they met up with a small, narrow entrance to the sewer system. Sayeal blasted the edges with lightning, making the opening large enough for her and her friend. Finally, she crawled from the sewers to find that she was less than fifteen feet from the tower. She heard a scream and saw a civilian nearby pointing up. She followed the finger to see the Xivali clinging to the tower. She moved back, as a warning was shouted into her mind. She grabbed Leel's arm, dashed away as quickly as she could, and had managed to get twenty-five feet from the tower as Murtagh's bullet tore a chunk out of the creature. She saw that it wouldn't be enough to drop the creature, just enough to [&@%!] it off. She pulled her arm back, preparing a bolt of lightning, when she spotted a small orb of fire racing toward the creature, and pointed to a concealed figure that had thrown it.

"brave little fellow" she whispered as the Xivali began it's fall. She moved away, screaming for others to evacuate. A few heard her and began running, but a dozen or so were still in the area when the Xivali hit the ground. The road erupted, hurling fragments of stone and asphalt yards away. She was grazed across the cheek and Leel was smashed in the arm by a particularly large piece, breaking the bone and leaving a large wound. She wordlessly touched his arm, calling to her magic once again. She felt the bone re-align and the wound healed. She nodded to him,

"you OK?" she whispered and felt instant relief as he nodded. She tapped her cheek and healed herself as well, then moved the two of them along to a well-covered alleyway that would keep her hidden from any prying eyes.

"check your shop, I need to speak to my Lady" she whispered, knowing he would be worried about collateral damage or looters. She felt her magic begin to recharge as the sun rose, but she knew that the dawn wouldn't be enough time for her, she would likely have to use a few stones she had stored at her home.

"It's likely that business will be booming soon, my friend, Murtagh and his fellows have shown their hand. Several of Rex's soilders are dead, and Rex won't let that stand. The battle lines are drawn, my friend. I will come by later, and remember, the other witch-hunters don't know that I've forsaken them, please keep that to yourself. She had removed the rings from his fingers as she healed the arm. She moved to pocket them, but thought again. She tapped his hand and dropped the rings into his palm.

"May our paths cross again." she whispered and held her hand out, offering him a parting handshake.

Spoiler:
Alright! Great to have you back, seventhsage. We all know how it is; I've been away from RP's for a month or longer due to life.
Leel shook Sayeal's hand, thanking her as he did so. He was amazed by he regenerative properties of her spell; as he began to move away, he turned his previously-injured limb over, examining the flesh curiously. Leel jogged steadily towards his shop, just as Sayeal had suggested; adrenaline still coursed through his veins as he went, the excitement of the recent events unsettling. He soon arrived, discovering that someone had attempted to break down the door; fortunately, the lock had held firm. Leel entered using his key, checked the back door, and then departed; he braced the damaged door with a cabinet and left through the rear exit.

As he weaved his way through the chaos on the streets to his next destination, his father-figure Samuel's home, Leel contemplated Sayeal's final words. He would, of course, honor her request for his secrecy; he wondered if her predictions for a more pronounced conflict would soon be found true. Leel's thoughts were cut short as he arrived at Samuel's home; the manor remained mostly untouched by the panic on the streets besides for cosmetic damage to the front gate and wall. Leel quickly tore his way through the gate and up the path to the modest manor; he was obviously allowed to enter without pause. He quickly and eagerly located Samuel and his wife, who were seated in the living quarters, near the fireplace. Once he had ensured their safety, and vice versa, Leel set off once again, for his own home some blocks away. He arrived relatively quickly, opting to rest until morning. If Sayeal was correct, he would be seeing an increase in business the next day.

Lucien was highly impressed by the woodland estate which had apparently been within his father’s possession for decades. “Why do we never visit this place?” Lucien asked his mother.

Isabel put her hand on her son’s shoulder. “You need some rest, sweetheart.” she said quietly. “You will most likely be departing for your grandfather’s villa in High Rock tomorrow.”

Lucien groaned. “But Mother, why-”

Franco harshly pointed a finger at the boy. “You do not talk back to your mother.” he hissed. “Is that clear?”

“Yes, Father.” Lucien replied.

Franco turned to the pair of soldiers of which were standing at each side of the wide staircase in front of the entrance. “Escort my son to his new quarters.” he ordered them. “Have a case of clothing, headwear, and footwear prepared by noon.”

The soldiers nodded and approached their master’s child, standing on the boy’s side.

Isabel kissed her son on the forehead. “You’ll be alright, Lucien.” she reassured the boy. “I will check on you in an hour. Okay? I love you.”

“I love you too.” Lucien murmured as the soldiers escorted him through a separate corridor leading to the western wing of the estate.

“I need some rest as well.” Isabel said to Franco, wrapping her arms around him with a sigh.

Franco put his hands on Isabel’s cheeks and looked into her eyes. “Isabel,” he began. “I have everything under control.”

“Obviously you don’t!” Isabel said loudly with a shaking voice. Tears were beginning to run from her eyes. “Our son was in danger, Franco! Our boy could have been shot, burned, or worse! I don’t even want to think about what could have-”

“Shhh….” Franco whispered, pulling his wife closer to him as he wiped the tears from her cheeks. “You know I would never let that happen. You and Lucien are the only things in this world that keep me alive.”

“I know.” Isabel replied quietly.

“I’ll have a soldier escort you to the bedroom. You can change, lay down, and rest for the day. Don’t worry about anything. Blame the Witchhunters. They caused all of this. Alright?”

Isabel yanked her husband forward and gave him a long, passionate kiss. “You protect us, Franco.” she said to Franco after she pulled away from his arms. “I am sending a letter to my father in Evermor. I want Lucien immediately boarded on the next train to High Rock.”

Franco smiled weakly and nodded. He then motioned for a guard to escort Isabel to the master bedroom. As Isabel disappeared into a long corridor from the large balcony at the peak of the staircase, Franco made his way through the eastern halls of the mansion leading toward his study at the very rear of the building.

Romulus hobbled after his master readily. “What is your plan, Master?” he asked Franco as they reach the doors leading to the beautiful study.

Franco nodded at the two soldiers standing guard at the entry. The soldiers promptly opened the doors. “My plan is to bring the Witchhunters’ organization itself to the ground.” he told Romulus.

Romulus’ eyes went wide as the soldiers closed the doors, leaving only he and his master inside the study. “I-I apologize, Master.” he stuttered. “I must have misheard you. I thought I’d heard you say that you were going to destroy the Witchhunters league entirely.” He laughed nervously.

Franco sat behind his massive desk with an unyielding expression on his face. “No,” he replied. “I believe you heard me correctly.”

Romulus gulped. “How is this possible!?” he shouted loudly. The butler was quick to take back this rather disrespectful question. “I am sorry, Master. Truly. I am merely thinking out loud. What of the Venim family - the Witchhunter elite?”

“The Venim family is slowly losing its prominent influence on the military and the government.” Franco stated. “In these past two decades, Rex Industries has become larger than it ever was before. I have at least thirteen factories situated in every major city of Tamriel. Rex Industries is the core supplier of the Imperial Legion, the Blades, and thousands of independent military organizations spread across the whole continent! I hold unbelievable amounts of both economic and political power that affects everyone and everything within the civilized world of this planet. The Venims hold nothing but a large sum of money and high ranks in the Witchhunters’ organization. All we need is the perfect tool…the perfect plan to bring about the permanent downfall of the Hunters.”

“But what of their physical powers!?” Romulus asked uneasily. “Murtagh and Monet Venim combined must have killed hundreds of men, women, and Daedra in the past! Surely they have survived numerous assassination attempts! Besides, once one of the Witchhunters are slaughtered, they are immediately replaced by another. That is the way it has always been, Master!”

Franco sighed. “If we cannot bring the entire organization to the ground,” he began. “We will still be quite able to target the Venim family itself.”

Romulus cocked an eyebrow. “What do you speak of, Master?”

A satanic grin spread across Franco’s face. His lustrous white teeth shined brightly in the light of the fireplace.

Sayeal sighed as Spell-weave fell into it's stand near her door. She dropped her armor to the floor, noting with distaste the large scorch marks, bloodstains, dents, and scratches that today had brought. She quickly bit the tip of her finger, traced the opening rune on her door and stepped into her sanctuary. The portal snapped shut as she entered, forbidding entrance to anyone else without her permission.

She ignored the ritual and instead sat in a meditative pose in front of the wall. She tapped a spot on the wall and a small shelf slid out at her touch. She selected several soul stones, a few unimpressive looking rings, and a small dagger. She tapped another shelf and drew out a small bag. Contained within was a small ring, elven made, that marked her as a married woman. She thought again of the night she had plunged her sword into her traitorous husband's heart after learning, via letter meant for him, that he was working for the damned witch-hunters. She remembered the tears running down her cheek as she cleaned his blood from the blade and called the watch, claiming a foul sorcerer had slain him. She had "joined" the witch-hunters the next day, under the guise of revenge on his murder. In truth, it had simply been to keep an eye on them, to learn what they knew, what they guessed, and what she could do to divert them. She had stopped several of their raids on Azura's followers, often by simply moving the location with the majority of them being unaware. There had, however been a few of them that had needed to be eliminated. She thought once again of that night long ago, when she had witnessed one of Azura's followers throwing in with that fool Molag Bal. Anger flared within her, then strong satisfaction as she remembered cutting the traitor down.

She shook her head once again, clearing the thoughts. She had no time. She gestured and spoke three words, causing a small pedestal to rise from the ground. She lit two candles and placed them in their proper place on the pedestal. She felt the magic in the air focus intently as the simple table became an altar of powerful enchantment. She placed the first of the rings down and enchanted it to allow the wearer to see in the dark, replacing the one she had left with Leel earlier in the day. She slipped it on and called to it, ensuring that it worked properly. Realizing it did, she dropped it into the bag. She continued until around mid-day, working hard on her preparations. Soon she had a bag full of small gems, rings, and amulets that granted an array of effects, protections, and surprises for her enemies. She had even enchanted a batch of ammunition, with a certain Argonian shop owner in mind, she had a feeling he would be at her side later on, and a little extra firepower could never hurt.

She picked up the stone in her hand. She tapped it's power and felt it rush back in, recharging her magical energies completely. She knew she may not be recharged by the dawn, and needed to be prepared. She wondered briefly where Rex was, knowing he wouldn't be long in retaliation. Shrugging, she toppled backwards in her bed after re-sealing her sanctuary door and ensuring that her wards on the doors were working and active.

She sighed, hoping she had prepared thoroughly enough for the bloodbath that was no doubt coming. She slept a troubled sleep.

Murtagh walked into the small manor he owned on the outskirts of the city. Dawn had just broken over the sky and orange light was pouring in through the windows. The Khajiit maid, J'Hani, came around the corner, carrying Murtagh's six-month old daughter in her arms. Murtagh gave her a lopsided smile (all he was capable of), and took the child.
Janelle Venim had a slight blue tint to her skin and red eyes, but other than that was identical to her Breton mother.

“Master, this is madness!” Romulus pleaded.

“Madness?” Franco chuckled. His tone then became solemn. “They raided my home! They slaughtered several of MY soldiers! That’s several families that have been affected by there attack. They will mourn for weeks…perhaps even months! By the gods, my own son was within harm’s reach! This is not madness, my dear servant. This is retaliation. This is the official declaration of war.”

“And what do you plan to do, Master?” Romulus asked nervously, rubbing his knuckled with his fingers in his anxiousness. “I am at your side no matter what path you choose.”

Franco folded his hands on his desk in relaxation. His calmness was almost disturbing. “We are going to assassinate Murtagh Venim.”

Romulus chuckled apprehensively. “Impossible…” he whispered.

“No, it is actually quite possible.” Franco leaned back in his chair. “I believe I can-”

Suddenly, Franco was interrupted by one of his soldiers bursting into the study with his rifle at hand. The soldier was out of breath and looked to have sprinted all the way from the gate and through the mansion. “Master Rex!” the soldier shouted.

“WHAT IS THIS!?” Franco boomed, slamming each of his fists down upon the desk.

The soldier jumped, but quickly put his thoughts together. “YOU MUST COME WITH ME IMMEDIATELY!” he said with excitement. “It’s…It’s Project D-4!”

“Project D-4” was a complicated experiment that had been conducted by Franco Rex three years ago. It involved combining the DNA of Scamps with the DNA of wild baboons found within the jungles of Summerset Isle to create a new and extremely powerful Daedric being called a “Mandrid”. The project was far ahead of its time. The first fourteen results were complete failures, causing Franco to generally lose interest with the subject. But he continued to fund the project, and members of his Sorcerer clan were extremely intrigued by the experiments.

“Project D-4?” Franco asked with a cocked eyebrow. “What of it?”

“It is a success!” the soldier blurted out.

“What!?” Franco stood from his chair. “How is this possible!?”

“We have effectively created the first Mandrid, Master Rex!” the soldier said with joy. “A cross between a baboon and a Daedric Scamp! Fifteen of your soldiers from one of your factories in the Imperial City have brought the creature to this estate in an armored carriage! It is awaiting you just outside this mansion!”

Romulus threw his arms in the air. “Let us go see it, then!” he said to Franco and the soldier.

Franco, Romulus, and the soldier made their ways through the vast halls of the building to the exit at the front of the gigantic mansion. A separate pair of soldiers opened the doors, allowing the glowing light of the rising sun to brighten the Entrance Chamber.

A large armored carriage bearing the Rex family crest - a red fox surrounded by a golden wreath - was parked before the entrance. Fifteen of Rex’s soldiers stood around the carriage. Other soldiers gathered about the area in an attempt to see what was happening.

At the center of the carriage was a cage. Inside the cage was the most dreadful creature any of the soldiers had ever seen. It resembled a large baboon (about four feet tall on all four legs) with stiff black fur and charred red skin. Its tail was long and slender like that of a rat. It had great and incredibly sharp claws on each of its fingers and toes, complimenting its large hands and feet. Its eyes were large and glowed with a satanic red hue. The creature’s ears were stridently pointed at the top, yet slightly curved inward to allowed better hearing. The creature yawned, revealing the most frightful aspect of its entire body - its teeth. Each tooth was large, white as snow, and as sharp as a Daedric dagger.

A soldier standing beside the cage gestured toward the monster. “This,” he said to Franco. “Is the world’s first Mandrid.”

The soldiers separated, forming a clear path for Franco as he approached the cage. “It is beautiful.” he whispered.

Leel awoke early in the morning hours, quickly dressing and having a small breakfast before while contemplating the events of the previous night. His meal was short, and he soon departed, traveling along the streets of the city towards his shop. Leel arrived shortly, entering through the rear door as he had planned to do. Once inside, he removed the chair from the front door, undid the damaged lock, and took his usual place, seated on a stool behind the shop's wooden counter. Sayeal's prediction held true; a fairly large number of patrons entered shortly, ranging from average citizens concerned for their own safety to a few well-trained mercenaries, guardsmen and private soldiers. Leel's shop was well known, and popular with those were not racist in personality; his work was done correctly and quickly, and the price he charged was rather fair. In a case where someone could not pay with gold, he often accepted other items for minor repairs or adjustment; this was evident by the small assortment of semi-valuable odds and ends present on the shelves behind Leel's back. As lunchtime approached, there was a signifcant lull in the presence of customers; Leel retrieved a certain weapon from his workshop and brought it to the counter. It was the revolver which he had been paid to modify for a known witch-hunter; after yesterday's occurences, he was a bit more reluctant to continue his modifications, but did so nonetheless. He was already half-way through, and it was rather unrealistic to think of returning a non-functional weapon to a customer, and for undisclosed reasons.

The Altmer soldier standing closest to the cage stepped forward. Based on his uniform, he appeared to be the leader of the squadron of soldiers that had escorted the carriage containing the Mandrid to Rex’s woodland estate. “Magnificent, is it not?” the soldier said to Franco.

“Indeed.” Franco replied.

“It has been bred to recognize the scent of your family and your allies.” the Altmer soldier told Franco. “It will show a superior and unbreakable loyalty to yourself, your wife, your child, your soldiers, your pets, and all others of which you deem worthy.”

Franco smiled and reached his bare hand through the bars of the cage. The Mandrid curiously sniffed Franco’s hand, subsequently lowering his head in respect. Franco pet the creature gently. “Wondrous!” he whispered. He then pulled his hand out of the cage and turned to the Altmer soldier. “Is it male or female?”

“It is asexual.” the soldier replied. “It is capable of producing new offspring alone without a mate.”

“How long is its lifespan?”

“Seventy to eighty years.”

Franco whistled. “Outstanding…” he mumbled to himself.

The soldier reached his hand through the cage and petted the Mandrid as well. “It possesses incredible amounts of strength and agility. Like baboons, they are excellent at climbing and dodging bullets, arrows, and spells. Their massive teeth are able to dismember a human body within as little as three powerful bites. And they are also extraordinarily intelligent…almost as intelligent as humans.”

Franco’s eyes went wide. “Can it speak!?” he asked with a hint of excitement in his tone.

“No.” the soldier stated. “But it is capable of clearly understanding the Tamrielic language. Studies have revealed that Mandrids are able to communicate with each other - much like the baboons of which they are descended from. They can call to each other for aid and reinforcements. They are also capable of strategizing. And as a bonus, thanks to their Scamp lineage…they are able to use magic.”

Franco grinned. “What kind of magic?”

“They are only able to cast spells within the magical school of Destruction - mainly fire spells. But fire is a starving element, Master Rex. It can consume entire buildings within minutes.”

“Indeed…” Franco said, turning away from the cage in thought. “Indeed…”

Romulus stepped up to the cage and patted the creature’s head. It made a low growling noise. Romulus smiled. “How many of these creatures can you produce in one day?” he asked the soldier.

The soldier took a deep breath. “Well,” he began. “If we use the factories, we could most likely produce up to seventy a day. But it will cost money. Lots of money.”

A sly grin spread across Franco’s face. “Money will not be an issue.” he said calmly.

Romulus could recognize the grin on his master’s face. “What are you thinking, Master?” he asked worriedly.

Franco patted Romulus’ shoulder. “I have an idea, my dear servant.”

Zip's eyes slowly opened as the soft rays of the early morning light were filtered through the frayed holes in her bearskin tent. She spent the next few minutes replacing bandages on a wound she had got the night earlier. A mountain lion had given her a nasty scratch on her left calf. When she had finished with that, she arranged her dwindling supplies together and examined her map. She wasn't far from the Imperial City, and it would only be an hour or two before she reached it.
Putting everything away into a rather large leather backpack, Zip stepped outside into the fresh morning air. She started packing up the tent, a process that consisted of taking a few sticks out of the ground, and stuffed the sticks into a side pocket. The bearskin part of the tent was rolled up and strapped into place on the back of the backpack, and after making sure that was securely in place, she headed east. She would reach the Imperial City before noon.
