Re: Tiny details that can make us feel more immersed in the
Ok first of all I'd like to say I love almost all of these ideas except the ones that are way to gruesome
Now i'd like to add some of my own Warning theres a lot
First, I know that Morrowind had werewolves but I'm talking about being able to turn into any creature based on your disease. And maybe only certain races can be infected with certain diseases and every race can be infected with the wolf-strain. And maybe X amount of time after your first transformation an NPC gives you a quest in which you are told of a were-colony who, once you prove yourself worthy, can train you to control your abilities so that you can transform whenever you like at the cost of a little bit of mana. Also based on your strain transforming gives you certain benefits as well as certain weaknesses but they only last while you are transformed. However even though you still have control over your abilities once a month you transform (as well as all other were-creatures) and must consume a certain amount (but not type) of raw meat in order to maintain if you do not you will continue to transform every night but will not have the ability to change at will until you feed. and if you still do not feed then your appearance will look more and more like the creature you turn into with each passing day.
Second I think that you should be able to wear a cloak or cape or hood OVER your other armor. I think in real life you wouldn't say hold on i gotta take of my cuirass so that i can fit this thin fabric on. Also if you wear a hood and a cloak it should look connected however when you take off the hood the cloak looks as if the hood is on your back.
Third I think that if you take a pelt off of an animal it should disappear from the animals body.
Fourth, like in Fallout, when you are overencumbered you walk very slow but are still able to move. I can't tell you how many times i got frustrated because i picked up an apple and suddenly i can't move.
Fifth being able to drop quest items if you fail the associated quest. I can see why you wouldn't be able to if you were still persuing the quest however once it's no longer possible to do so it's just a waste of space.
Sixth I think that some spells should be two-handed but REALLLLY POWERFUL i mean just picture you forming a giant ball of energy with lightning surging through it between you hands an then discharging the energy all at once or in a stream of lightning.
Seventh there should be different animations for different spells.
Eighth the underwater view should not be improved but instead make it a spell or enchantment thats called like fish-eyes or something that lets you see clearly underwater. and make the argonians born with it.
Ninth you should be able to toggle helmet view like you can toggle using iron sights in Fallout: New Vegas.
Tenth I love the emblem editor idea but why stop there you should be able to dye different weapons or even put different designs on the blade of your sword or the head of your axe etc.
Eleventh you should be able to use almost everything as a weapon. why have dinner knives and forks if you can't use them for anything? or even smack someone with a torch.
Twelfth you should be able to light things on fire with a torch and drop lit torches.
Thirteenth there should be different tools to repair different weapons. How do you fix a wooden staff by beating it with a metal hammer? also I wish that the repairing sound reflected the material you are repairing.
Fourteenth you should be able to use broken equipment just not as effectively. I mean sure my cuirass has a giant gash in it and if someone's weapon goes in it it will certainly hurt but that doesn't mean it isn't still protecting the rest of me. And so what if my sword broke in half i can still use the half that is attached to the hilt. also if you equip a bow but no arrows or a broken bow you should be able to beat the person with the bow.
Fifteen If your character has long hair it should stick out from under the helmet.
Sixteen if I pick something up via grab and either throw it or swing it around like a madman and it hits someone it should do a slight bit of damage but not enough to get them to attack just enough so they comment and maybe like you less or if they are your friend they wouldn't necessarily like you less but just make a joke or something. It is weird albeit funny when you grab a battle axe off the ground and swing it around and smack someone with it and they don't even notice
Seventeen if they put in a hardcore mode then you have a much lower carrying capacity and as you carry more stuff you become gradually slower not just suddenly slower like it would be with normal mode.
And that's all I got so far. What does everyone think?

I think that's actually going to happen, I remember than in the gameplay video, Dovahkiin's hair showed underneath his helmet and it didn't clip. Yay~D0VAHK11N wrote:Fifteen If your character has long hair it should stick out from under the helmet.
I think that it would be nice if there were an actual scary element to the game. I'm talking running through an old castle being chased by something (maybe a vampire or werewolf) Amnesia style. I like a scary, believable element. If I were my Oblivion character, I'd run like hell if I were in a dark place and got attacked by something.

There should be an option to twist a blade into a person for roleplaying to cause them extrama pain and blood would come out faster,

Let me save you the trouble and everyone else the response of NO!Offtopic wrote:There should be an option to twist a blade into a person for roleplaying to cause them extrama pain and blood would come out faster,

Re: Tiny details that can make us feel more immersed in the
I want more cinematics than anything else, you want to be immersed? Take a tip from gasp call of duty and do what they do with animations, i like how in black ops it was more cinematic(you know time slowing down, you see waving arms when you jump off a 50 ft cliff, lifting your hand to block a punch to the face.) When i meet someone, i wanna see my hand go out to shake theres, it goes out to grab an object and etc, no more invisble hands, when i pick up a body its slung over my back and decreases my weight, when i repair items i press the right trigger to bring down the hammer.
Thats immersion.

Re: Tiny details that can make us feel more immersed in the
gasp...gasp indeed. No. Call of duty cinematics are too much its so obvious whats going to happen and you have little to no control over it. I like oblivion because I can kill anyone at anytime.Da_BossMaN69 wrote: gasp call of duty.

Re: Tiny details that can make us feel more immersed in the
But Cinematics done correctly could be awesome. For linear areas of the game.
Like, a Boss fight would be EPIC if it took place in a seprate area, like say a cavern or on a mountain which you canno tjust exit when you start losing. The Boss fight should have scripted events like landslides and times when it's lik eyour dead your dead your dead oh wait...keep fighting. That would make it way better.
Of course there should be regular combat in the middile of boss fights, but some epic unique moments.

Remember how you could simply walk down the Dive Rock mountain when its angle of elevation was about 86 degrees? In Skyrim, you should slip down slopes once they are at a certain gradient, around 65 degrees.

Just thought of this earlier, you should be able to see your arms when you pick something up. Unless everyone in Nirn learned the Wengardium Leviosa spell.

If hand to hand is in the game, give us dirty combat options. Lowblows, foot stomps, sand-in-face, 3 stooge moves, etc. I'd love to prank people as I brawl with them.

They did that in Fallout: New Vegas. so who knows maybe they will incorporate it into this too. Also certain areas of the body should have hit multipliers but it should be different for different enemies.KneelBeforeZod wrote:If hand to hand is in the game, give us dirty combat options. You misunderstand.Offtopic wrote:...cough.NordFtw wrote: For linear areas of the gameSpoiler:
You enter a cave, its a (slightly) linear area. Boss fights should not be out in the open world. A seperate area, like a lnear mountain path, then an area where you fight the boss.
Open World Game, Linear areas for boss fights.

This was sort of mentioned before, but when a weapon breaks, it should look broken. So if my sword is 0 health, the moment it hits 0 it should snap at the hilt or something.

If there is an arena, or i guess this could apply to any guild really but if you are a high-ranking member people of the town where it is located should, after a while at least, recognize you by your title. like in oblivion people didn't notice you were part of the arena or arch-mage of the mages guild unless they are in them.

Re: Tiny details that can make us feel more immersed in the
I disagree with both of OP's suggestions, they seem like annoying features rather than immersive features to me
Things I'd like to see:
> People doing stuff like leaning on walls, yawning, scratching their arms ect. Just stuff humans do really...
> Slower movement when wearing armour/heavy gear.
> Visible wear on weapons. Unlike oblivion where a weapon looked the same when it had 1 health as it did when it had 100. Think Far Cry 2
> Rats in cities maybe?
> NPC's react more to weather. Like shivering when its cold (which it will be, often). In Oblivion the beggars had scripts that made them seek shelter when it rained, but this was pointless seeing as rain fell through roofs -.-
All I can think of atm

I don't know if someone said this, but having roofs actually prevent rain from coming through.
Also, when it rains and your out for a while, your clothing/armor should get wet. Then when your inside for a while it will gradually wear off.
But you armor shouldn't rust. That'd just be annoying.

There was some mod for this but i forget the name of it. But it would be awesome for the windows of buildings/houses/inns to light up at night, like you could see the candle light through the windows. Of course for abandoned houses you wouldn't be able to see the light in the windows though.

Re: Tiny details that can make us feel more immersed in the
when i mean cinematics i dont mean quit gameplay and show a movie, i mean while in game yourr character interacts with the world more, when jumping your arms flail with your legs bobbing in and out of your view if you go from one cliff onto the other, you actually carry the corpse of the enemy on your back picking up a cup is your hand with a cup grasped in it.
