I guess if you like magical boosts to stack up that would be a benefit, guess I'm to lazy for it. You must have a hell of a lot of patience to go through all the items and cast though.urthdigger wrote:Well, my opinion of it is that I like items that case when used because I don't need them equipped to get the benefit. Like, with the various heart and blood artifacts from the ash vampires, I can just cycle through all of them and not be bothered by my restriction of only one amulet, one belt, and two rings.

Not really, I just save them for more dangerous fights rather than keeping them all up at all times. It's to supplement my constant effect items, not replace them.

Yeah I get you, I do the same thing with scrolls. Normally the only cast when used items I carry about are self enchanted ones for water walking, levitate etc.urthdigger wrote:Not really, I just save them for more dangerous fights rather than keeping them all up at all times. Re: Things you don't like about Morrowind...
If theres one thing I hate about morrowind its that it isn't oblivion. I mean, no fast travel, dodgy creature animations, the unnecacerily long place names, no quest pointers/markers and no actual speech, dodgy meshes and textures and finally the endless list of glitches and bugs within quests and general exploring. Oh yeah and the fact you can dispose of quest items before you know you need it! Damn you tax record and Sixth House cup!!

Re: Things you don't like about Morrowind...
There are a couple of things I really don't like about Morrowind:
1) The crashes every now and then. Obviously not a direct part of the game, but it gets ANNOYING.
2) Acrobatics. I mean, at level 1 you jump like 5 cm. Later in the game, you jump so darn high it gets ridiculous. The same somewhat applies to athletics, I wish they had made some adjustments to that, so that you didn't run as slow at lvl, and not as fast once you had gotten some levels. To compensate, you could gain fatigue points faster. Just a thought, but it hasn't bothered me much. It was much worse before, when I would often go the wrong way and not use the fast travel when I could.
And that is all I can think off, aside from a couple of things that has been mentioned on the last pages.

I like everything about it, except the graphics. Of course as a real fangirl I can look behind it and still enjoy the game, but the graphics are still... still... such a no, no. They were good at that time, but compared to Oblivion it makes me cry. Out loud. For real.

I've tried installing some graphics mod, but they never seem to work. I should look if I can fix that. It doesn't bothers me THAT much, but still enough to be titled ''annoying.''

Something I really hate about Morrowind? It's ability to ruin nearly all over rpg games for me. It's to intense for it's own good.

From time to time people disappear. I have steered clear of the high elf and I finally got around to playing one and invested a lot of time getting an ebony staff and collecting spells and training just to make a low level mage able to survive. Then i go to do an errand for the necromancer in the mage's guild for the second quest in the main quest and she is gone!

Re: Things you don't like about Morrowind...
That reminds me dem...
My first Morrowind game did something really weird. Once I walked near Ebonheart, searching for Vivec, and the...city?Structure?foundation? of Ebonheart didn't properly load and all the people on the docks fell into the water the beneath it and drowned. This was my first play through of the game with a relatively low level character so i didn't quite understand what was happening. Many, Many hours/levels/days later when I returned to depopulated Ebnonheart I realized what had happened; never able to interact with the East Empire Company..or well anyone from the docks.
It was weird.

Very weird! Sometimes i have a village disappear but when i save and reload it comes back. I have never had the town disappear and the people stay. usually people just float off or fall thru. The silt strider ferryman in gnisis the boatman in the town south of gnar mok goes into the water sometimes the mage transporter in Ald druh goes into a wall and disappears sometimes.

1) I hated how ugly some races were. Their faces looked like rotten scrib jerky
2) Scribs interrupting you when you sleep in the wilderness.
3) How Argonians walked. Period.
But, for balance:
1) Loved the realistic accuracy when you swung a weapon.
2) Clothing and armor was very varied.
3) Humor, Easter Eggs, and the fact that I could free slaves.

Re: Things you don't like about Morrowind...
The combat and magic system. It is so irritating to try to use a healing spell during combat, because you have to switch between them, and even then, you might not even succeed at casting the spell...it makes restoration magic far less useful than it should be. In fact, it's pretty much impossible to use spells at close range without being a hulking mass of steel to protect yourself. Even the Unarmored skill sucks unless you somehow fortify it to 200...i guess that's not completely impossible, but it's pretty hard if you're trying to play without the console...
Re: Things you don't like about Morrowind...
The fact that for all the awesomeness involved in adventuring in Morrowind, game balance was pretty bad. The lower difficulty settings are a walk in the park; as you yank it high up melee warriors will get outrageously powerful and will be able to kill the toughest tank in 1 (later 2) hit/s. That is, unless he gulps down 5+ alchemised healing potions at once, in which case he is almost immortal if he can survive a single hit. NPC mages suck, many monsters are so much less challenging because they actually use spells. I mean, who would want to use a Sound (2 pts) spell? Apparently, NPCs do. On the other hand, magic, in the hand of a human, completely destroys any notion of balance. Levitate freely over your hapless opponent, pelting him with arrows, or flinging magic spells at him, while he just stands right under you and does nothing! Or summon 3 different creatures who will also kill everything, while you don't get harmed ever! And that's just the tip of the iceberg, there are much more cheesy tactics.
Not to mention some of those items. Even with the Robe of St. Roris patched now, any Telvanni house member gets enough items in the first few quests to complete the game. Aryon's Helper anyone? Yes, 3 different Atronachs for free please. Seriously, many times I find that I need to set myself 5 different house rules to make for an enjoyable game, since alchemy or the use of several spell schools just ruin any challenge.

It's so true! There are so many other decent rpgs that I can't enjoy simply because they are always compared to Morrowind in my mind and they always loose...really sucks!Dean wrote:Something I really hate about Morrowind? If I knew ahead of time where and when I would need to physically defend myself or others, I would simply avoid that time and place...but I don't...hence CPL...

Re: Things you don't like about Morrowind...
I think that voice acting has some flaws.
Bretons: I just don't like the male voice. Females on the other hand have a nice voice, but in quite a few cases they speak without pauses or barely any intonation (Well-I-find-myself-in-pleasant-company-please-share-your-thoughts.), which is just bad.
Female Imperials, the other extreme, just sound like news speakers stupidly exaggerating intonation, it's annoying to listen to them.
And there's a bunch of Greetings that just don't make sense.
Altmer, Imperials (and maybe others I don't remember) sometimes greeting you by "... Outlander ..." . That's kind of stupid.
"You're not what I expected. You've earned my trust." - Why? How?
I'm sure there's some more I just don't remember right now.
-----------
A really annoying thing is, that the player gets bounty for every NPC killed by the NPC taunted into battle (my example was Mistress Therana killing her Khajiit slave with AoE-Spells). And after you kill the taunted NPC, you'll get bounty for killing him/her too, if he/she killed another NPC.
Another example is Larrius Varro; attacking him will draw everyone in the Building to come and fight. With so many NPC and some spellcasters among them, they kill each other meaning you get bounties of 2000 and more without doing ANYTHING!
-----------
Morrowind loves to crash, and that can be pretty frustrating. Especially if you forgot to save for a good 30 minutes

Silt Strider/boatmen getting moved slightly every time you use them and then they end up in the water or at the bottom of a cliff, sitting there waiting to drown/get killed
creepy mouthing animations
Werewolves: tough to kill, weak to be
rats, kwama, small critters, etc.: I'll freak out, hearing the combat music, only to realize five minutes into searching for the source that it's just a rat stuck in a tree.
Willpower, it does so very little
