How Could they Ruin the Game for You?
We don't have many real details yet and everyone is busy discussing what they hope will be in the game, but let me ask you this: What announcement could make you feel that the game was no longer worth getting? For me it would be if they removed spell making which has long been one of my favorite features, actually one of my biggest complaints about Oblivion is that they made you do so much to get it.

If they announced that the world will end on 11/10/2011.

The Game(for me) would be ruined if it made no attempt to acknowledge your character from Oblivion. e.g. A nice statue created from a gamesave would be nice, maybe a book stating his ACTUAL NAME rather than "The Hero" or whatever.

Then how come Oblivion isn't ruined for you? I haven't seen any Nerevarine statues in Cyrodiil/Shivering Isles...ToTheMadhouse wrote:The Game(for me) would be ruined if it made no attempt to acknowledge your character from Oblivion. e.g. A nice statue created from a gamesave would be nice, maybe a book stating his ACTUAL NAME rather than "The Hero" or whatever.![]()

If Skyrim's lore followed the accursed books by Greg Keyes.
I honestly don't know if I'd buy the game.

Re: How Could they Ruin the Game for You?
Why can't people accept that Morrowind was going to die? And the Empire had to survive, otherwise it would be game about extremely xenophobic small kingdoms fighting against each other. They already had that game, it was called Daggerfall.Argonanza wrote:It does.Nevastar wrote:If Skyrim's lore followed the accursed books by Greg Keyes.

The Main Quest being an hour long. Or anything under several dozen full hours of activity.

Re: How Could they Ruin the Game for You?
Short of them going in an entirely different direction then Morrowind or Oblivion, I will not have a problem with what they do. From what I've seen it is going to be another Elder Scrolls game, in the same style as the ones we know and love. More importantly from what we've seen this is pretty much exactly what we wanted. A more real game world, to make it easier to fall in love with it. I have enough faith in Bethesda to create another gem of a game enough to not wonder how they will ruin it.

Yup. No levelled quest rewards please. Also, no emphasis on the events from That Infernal Book. There's four games worth of lore behind this. If Bethesda are insisting on letting Keyes tear a hole in the beauty of Tamriel, then they could at least throw his pathetic excuse for lore into the backdrop.Mucro wrote:If there is the same, Oblivion, leveling system.

I was really dissapointed to find out it was cannon. I didn't see a mention of the book in Alduin's wall, I'm really hoping that this means it will be in the backdrop. If we're lucky, it will have no mention at all.

Re: How Could they Ruin the Game for You?
You really don't think that a lot of Dunmer will still be alive after that (Elves can live thousands of years after all)? There will probably be in-game books, a new racial trait, and new generic dialogue for the most cursed race, soley dedicated to the destruction of Vvardenfall. Something like that changes an entire people, it will be mentioned.Mucro wrote:I'm guessing you didn't like theVeck wrote:Yup. No levelled quest rewards please. Re: How Could they Ruin the Game for You?
I read UESP's summary of The Infernal City and honestly,I do not see anything wrong with it. Can the haters please explain why they hate? Weird crap happens in fantasy games. In a game where you can summon creatures, electrocute people with your fingers and survive multiple arrows to the left atrium,a floating city seems pretty down-to-earth. An orbiting body(moon?) crashing into a volcano doesn't surprise/shock me one bit. In a magical game, magic happens.
Now what would ruin Skyrim for me?
Gunpowder
Dragon-Age style combat
Absense of any of the ten races we know and love/hate.

Guns. Guns would ruin it for me. Nooooo guns for me, thank you. Absolutely not. No, no, no, no, no. There is not enough 'no' in the world to describe how much I do not want to see guns in the Elder Scrolls.
I'd probably still buy it, though. I'm sure I could look past the stupid guns eventually.

Guns wouldn't be too bad a feature as long as they were kept to a minimum and ammo was rare, no Bandits would have them, Counts would definitely have them and maybe higher ranks of guards, no one else.

If Sheogorath was implemented as the canon character, and Imperial Male. Never play as a man, and I never play as an Imperial...

Re: How Could they Ruin the Game for You?
It would be ruined for me if the story wasn't damn impressive.
New Land, New Characters, 200 Years on, Bethesda shuld hoefully come up with memorable characters and a very interesting story.
And there BETTER be a fat stinking drunk somewhere in the game.

No guns at all, this is medieval fantasy game, the second a Dark Elf shows off his Glock to intimidate me I abandon this series. NO GUNSDerangedPicle wrote:No, just no. Skyrim is not a fallout game.

Yep, a lack of STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM would be a bit disappointing. And would it kill to do some voice acting for guards of other races? I've always wanted to hear an Argonian guard shouting "Nobody breaks the law on my watch!".Qwackie wrote: If the guards don't say "You violated the blah."
