Re: Blood and gore
My bloodiest moment in gaming ever, was when I attacked the Fort head-on in F:NV.
I was in maximum level, used a mod so could have several companions and my equipment was over the top. Pretty much overkill. What a mess I left. 8)Sorry I got off topic, but this thread reminded me so much of that day, I had to share it.

Re: Blood and gore
Fallout was pretty gruesome...
I'm not saying that's a bad thing - it suited Fallout well. But would it suit an ES game? I don't know. I'm all for the ability to hack off limbs and heads, but so much for the Fallout-esque style of hitting someone's leg off with a baseballs bat.

Re: Blood and gore
ALL games, no matter what kind, should have an option to turn off or lessen blood and gore. Personally, I want it realistic, and wouldn't mind dismemberment and bloody battles, but parents need the option to tone it down, or off, so the younger dudes and dudettes can enjoy it. Our cultures are enundated with violent imagery in all forms of visceral entertainment, and our sense of moral balance is completely skewed. We shrug it off when little Johnny cuts an online player in two with a chainsaw, but scream bloody murder when he sees a nipple on MTV. Tell me, which one is less than natural?
I'm sorry, that's totally another topic for another after school special, it just irks me a bit.
OT, my vote: Violence, yes, but optional.

Re: Blood and gore
I'm looking foward to see how Skyrim will be using blood and gore.
It might actually be really graphic, I mean
Todd said it's going to be as gory as you can get with arrows, swords, axes, ect.
I would like realistic gore alot, but it should be an option,
hopefully it won't just lead to lots of bugs though...

Re: Blood and gore
I'm not really interested in seeing Fallout style gore, what I would like is a wounding system. As others have mentioned it feels rather silly to fight someone for several minutes (cutting them across the chest, arms, legs, and head multiple times) only to have a last cut across the hand make them topple over.
I want to see my enemy slowing down, becoming weary, losing the fight. Not fighting like a healthy person up until the last blow.
So instead of gore such as dismemberment and exploding heads, I would prefer to see injuries on the characters and creatures.

Re: Blood and gore
i dont want to see hyper gore either, aside from spells, theres nothing in the TES universe which will blow a head off at range. I'd like to see enemies slow down, drop things, etc as well (rather than have arms fall off during combat).
Big monsters and weapons will dent anyone's skull for them, but anything that strong will also destroy items the victim has, which would then limit loot (no more potions, arrows, staves, etc) or reduce immersion
Fallout is 18 rated, TES tends to be for a younger audience and i think they would be foolish to alienate under 18s for the sake of a bit of blood (i know the rating doesnt stop people getting games but they have to think of the law even if younger gamers and their parents don't)

From what I have heard their will be real time damage like in the game "red dead redemption". I thought that game handled it pretty well so I am sure this one will.

Re: Blood and gore
In fallout, i once had a legshot and only his head exploded.
. I don´t really know if this will really happen to you, but it lookt very unrealistic.
The rest of RDR lookt pretty good, on how the ragdolls fall, so i am happy if it is going to be like this.
And for RDR, every headshot made the back of the head explode, and not like the fallout explosion but more like there skin peels out like a bananaJohnthejedi24 wrote:From what I have heard their will be real time damage like in the game "red dead redemption". If they go with added gore...if you torch someone with a fireball, and then eat them, will it heal more of your health because it tastes better?

I think I heard somewhere that it will be rated mature.

Re: Blood and gore
Fair enough with the sniper - but you could still shoot someone in the head/arm/leg with a pistol and said body part pops right off. I wouldn't want every single enemy I kill to be a body with no limbs or head. True, I enjoyed this while dealing with Anna Holt, but that's different...
Something that was included in Fable II that I found cool - shock someone to death and they turn into a skeleton.

there's practical things to factor in, if that happens in Skyrim , surely it can happen to you as well, and if that's the case, it's going to be a bit annoying when a dragon eats your arm which had your left gauntlet of strength and ring of reflection on it

Re: Blood and gore
yes, blood and gore would be cool but i think they should make it realistic and not overdo it like they did in fallout 3. in fallout 3, when you shoot someone in the head there whole body explodes, so it was a bit unrealistic

Re: Blood and gore
Yes I wouldn't mind gore, not sure about dismemberment, but certainly have noticeable wounds on an enemy body, and if i'm on 1hp I don't want to be running around like i'm just woke up and had a shower, I want to be stained from my last battle until I rest properly.

Re: Blood and gore
The finishing move system will probably take the place of the dismemberment in Fallout. It would be interesting if you could decapitate as a finisher with a great axe or claymore but apart from that I wouldn't want to see limbs flying off, and definitely not as frequently as in fallout. Also if decapitation was possible then limit it to humanoids and goblins. The gore in Fallout was good fun but vapourising a bighorner's head with a shot from a magnum was ridiculous.
However it would be good to see scratches, gashes and other wounds, perhaps even dents and rips in armour and clothing after combat, and enemies killed with fire spells having charred, smoking bodies.

Dismemberment yes, lots of gore yes. I would live to see all this and a few head flying around wouldn't be to bad

Re: Blood and gore
If this was Cooking Mama, no. But this is a franchise that primarily focuses on cutting people up and smashing [&@%!] with hammers, so I don't really get why realistic gore hasn't been implemented yet. And don't completely factor out dismemberment or blood spurting from arteries yet, I've read that the developers are putting so much attention into foliage that they're assigning different weights to different branches so that they're effected differently by the wind. If they spend that much time [&@%!] around with trees, imagine what they're gonna do in regards to gore/

Re: Blood and gore
I don't mind gore, as long as it's realistic gore. I'm not looking for splatterhouse. But some gore should be reasonable. Oblivion was rated mature, and somehow I don't see the point of Bethesday backing away from that. What would the point be?

My imagination is waaaay overactive too. I set up murder scenes to make it look like they got drunk and stabbed the other person in the room; and then drank themselves to death. Re: Blood and gore
I just want to add, I want to be able to chop peoples heads off and use their head to hit someone else over the head... ... ... ...
But in all seriousness... I honestly don't mind gore, it add more of the feel that "WOW I can't believe I just did that" feeling to the game. I just can't stand any prolonged torture, I like the quick take an arm or head off and go, but having to watch someone scream while they are being tortured just doesn't go well with me and I hope they don't do that. Someones blood going on the screen would be funny as well.
In the trailer there was a clip of a skeletons head where its head was totally bashed in. They pretty much HAVE to make some blood come out of that if you can do that to all characters. There is nothing more satisfying than bashing an annoying characters head...
