Re: Why were you in jail?
Niiice thread
Anyway, now that I think of it, the stories of how my characters ended up in jail get crazier with every playthrough.
Gorbog gro-Shag, male Orc Barbarian: just for being drunk and disorderly.
K'Zirrah, female Khajiit Ohmes-Raht Rogue: freshly arrived from Elsweyr; while gawking at the Imperial City landmarks, was accosted by Audiens Avidius who demanded a "fine" for loitering; did not have the cash.
Tarkeena, female Redguard Knight: avenged her friend's death and got caught in the act; the guards were not particularly understanding.
Midir, male Altmer Mage: tried to devise a cunning escape from a lunatic asylum where he was kept; killed a couple of Healers in the process.
Etanni, female Dunmer Assassin: Due to her strange abilities, namely having prophetic visions when in state of acute physical pain, was ceaselessly tortured by an... uhm... enthusiastic researcher (I kinda borrowed this from E. T. A. Hoffmann, while under the impression of Kiara's history The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr). Finally, she snapped and paid the researcher back
Oh, and I also got Pongo Twistleton, male Hobbit (I guess it was Jakarius who recommended the Tolkien Inspired Hobbits mod
) who got arrested because he was an illegal immigrant from a parallel universe

In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
But why bounce around to the same damn song?
You'd rather run when you can't crawl...

I was in jail for knocking on every door in the Imperial City. It appears that the guards have to sleep too.
When it happens there's no turning back

I find it supremely ironic that 'Portable Network Graphics' (.png) are anything but portable in a networking situation. Given the size and resolution of that image, a .jpg file would've delivered the same quality at around 100 KB instead of that 0.73 MB image there.Blackfire wrote:Well..... jek got into a little incident, I'll leave it to your imagination.
Spoiler:
Plus, the 'spoiler' tag still forces the viewer to load the image, even if it is hidden.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

That's Dark Spark speak for: Link it, don't put it in a spoiler tag.Dark Spark wrote:I find it supremely ironic that 'Portable Network Graphics' (.png) are anything but portable in a networking situation. (after the reply "Is it the first offense?"): "Let's assume 'no'."
(then after the reply "Then it's at least 500 gold."): "That's nothing compared to Morrowind. Thanks."
There's your answer.

Re: Why were you in jail?
Funny, that, it did not start loading for me until I pushed the Spoiler button. But that IS browser dependant, probably done via CSS which browsers treat differently in terms of loading.Dark Spark wrote:Blackfire wrote:Well..... jek got into a little incident, I'll leave it to your imagination.

But you are right, a jpg is much more fitting for a game screenshot such as this, it's similar to a photo and contains many soft gradients which JPG compresses well. PNGs compress better for a more sharp picture with flatter colour areas. It has bothered me, Blackfire, there's even people here who upload .bmp.
tl;dr your files should probably be under 200KB

Re: Why were you in jail?
I made a character for each race, and have tried to think of something good for all ten of them. I still haven't been able to think of anything for Adana(Redguard) and Shazo(Orc). I think my favorite reason, was the one I made for my Altmer Aureiel. She is a magic user but was born under the sign of the Atronach, so she relies heavily on alchemy. She somehow got a hold of some hist sap, and decided to test it's alchemical properties. She started by ingesting a small sample, after which she quickly blacked out, and woke up later in the Imperial City Prison, and has no idea what she did to get there.

I don't remember if it's the trailer or the "illegal" scans, but one of them say "only one man .. a prisoner..."Offtopic wrote:Scouce?krisCrash wrote:Did you guys notice Skyrim will start you as a prisoner too?I guess that is to be expected.

I get my gossip from a thread on Polycount, started by a Bethesda employee ;D http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79120 there may be nudity later in the thread, just to warn you. The first post has a summery of the info out so far, including the official Gameinformer article as their official online version.
sorry for the derail.

Re: Why were you in jail?
My current character is named Alex. Just Alex. He's an aging, self-proclaimed templar. But in reality just an old thug employed by some of the Priests of the Nine Divines. He "enforces" the temples ruling of the religious sect, being assigned to locate heretics, specifically Daedra worshippers, and beat them, or criple or kill them depending on the severity of their "crimes."
Late one night, while meditating in the Temple of the One a drunken deadra worshipper threw a stone through one of the temple windows, Alex being of short temper and violent devotion exited temple, grabbed the man responsible and beat him to death on the street. He wouldn't let any guards near him until the man was dead, then allowed himself to be arrested.
