Blood and gore
I'll be honest, I liked the blood and guts from games like Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. How i loved chopping stuff up with my swords
. Do you think Bethesda will put the same amount of gore and dismemberment in this game?

The Fallout amount was good. The fallout style would be horrible for ES though.

I'd love the ability to crucify my opponents upside down in their own encampments, so that when their friends come back, they flee in terror. Force people to eat their children's hearts while they cry, etc etc. Become renown throughout Skyrim, like a real hero!

Re: Blood and gore
I wouldn't mind a decent amount of blood. It's fun to see limbs flying everywhere in Fallout. There's a line between satisfying and overkill (pun fully intended) though. And it should definitely be realistic; I don't want to see someone look like they've been through brutal torture and dismemberment if I whacked them with a dagger, and if I hack at them with a greataxe, I don't want them to die in one piece, either. I'm sure Bethseda will find a good balance.

Spoiler:
Re: Blood and gore
I imagine there will be blood splats but no dismemberment as its a difficult thing to impliment as it would mean the game would often be one hit one kill (mortally wound) which weapons such as swords axes would do, but Oblivion was not like this, you know hitting somone with a spicked mace 200 times..... I would like to see it but the fighting mechanic would need to be relooked as if one/two hit slain an enemy so would it the player.

QFT. I don't want anything too out of control, all Gears of War style, but I do like me some chunks.Vivec's Tears wrote:I wouldn't mind a decent amount of blood. Re: Blood and gore
I like blood and guts. In the sense that it's more realistic than watching a huge battle with warriors hacking at each other with swords, only to slice once across the stomach and boom, bad guy's dead. No blood. No entrails. No prolonged excruciating death.

Precisely. Blood and gore only to the extent that it enhances realism.

Re: Blood and gore
Honestly, I don't care either way. The whole realism of gore has never really drawn me in. Maybe I just have an overactive imagination and such though.

Yes, but less extreme. I always hated how I shot someone between the eyes with a sniper rifle from hundreds of yards away and their head exploded.

A long as I don't punch someone and their arm falls off. With finishing moves I think some realistic dismemberment sounds awesome, but nothing over the top.

Re: Blood and gore
It doesn't *fit* in ES. I believe Toddgod brought this fact up in one of the podcasts, because the violence in FO3, and FO3 in general, was a lot more over-the-top than Elder Scrolls. This has always been the style of the FO franchise, though still partly serious.
ES, however, is a lot more serious than FO. If I cut off someone's head and it blew into a million pieces, all flying into a million directions, would that really fit in the game? Not really. It wouldn't really fit in any ES game, in fact.
However, I would I like more of a gore system than Oblivion? Definitely. The gore system in Oblivion was essentially "Whack a large object at someone and watch blood splatter around them." I would like something where they gain noticeable wounds in a battle.

I would like to see a slightly more realistic gore addition to the combat of Skyrim. However, I would truly hate to see the game quality be brought down by an overly-barbaric scene of gruesome violence. There is a line to draw. Yes, realism is nice, but let's put into perspective that this is a video game, it's not designed to be like the real world. It's designed to allow you to participate in and develop in a different world than the reality we live in and I feel that too much blood and guts everywhere would detract from the essences that make the ES games so popular and keep me playing them for hours.
Can we get some more options in the poll?

Re: Blood and gore
Dismemberment would be great if the physics engine can make sense of it. I.E. nothing where multiple limbs fall off after one good hit as it is in fallout. Also, who says that losing an arm always causes death? Let's have the PC be susceptible to losing limbs, and have the restoration college include some 'regenerate extremity' spells. Of course, you might have to pick up your weapon from your severed arm...(forgive me, leilah) funtastic jellybeans.

Re: Blood and gore
Im for no.
Blood and guts is cool indeed, but usually when such a shade of ideas come - few lesser good ideas from the same genre will folow after. And when the shade is blood and guts - i believe the few things who will come after is obviously less brain and talking, more blood and blunting kind of game, I mean the developers wont work hard of something and not giving it a focus in game itself...
That will slightly change the feeling of TES gameplay, no, I don't want that.

Re: Blood and gore
You can't really complain about that legitimately since you did choose the perk and it says flat out in the description what it does. Outside of using that perk the only things that ever came off or exploded were what you were aiming at. Just don't choose the perk if you don't want it happening.EchotheThief wrote:...i once shot a super mutant behemoth with a teddy bear from the hand made gun, and it EXPLODED!!!!
As for TES, I dunno. I liked how it worked in Fallout 3/New Vegas, but on the other hand I don't know if it would feel like TES. I'm fairly certain after watching the trailer that it's not going to be in the game anyway since it never shows there. The one shot where I thought an enemy lost it's head I realised by slowing it down that it had just knocked the head far back out of sight. I still imagine the game to be more brutal, even if it isn't more bloody. The two finishing moves I saw in the video were pretty brutal, and I noticed blood actually staining the Dovahkiin, but that was all.

Only if you're a counterrorism/police sniper. Combat snipers don't aim for the head– they aim at an imaginary triangle drawn between the shoulders and the bottom of the sternum.Cloud_Nine wrote:Unfortunately, that's not extreme, it's realistic.Arch-Mage Matt wrote:Yes, but less extreme. Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
