hardcore mode

Post by Tazer »

Im new as you can see, but im a huge Elder Scrolls fan but back on topic do you think since they are taking a page from fallout they will implement hard core mode as the did in new vegas ( starvation, dehydration, fatigue ) because that made the game so fun for me and more challenging as it kicked my butt. :D Thanks

Bro, just gave me an opportunity to talk about this, thanks!

Since this is taking place in Skyrim, which is basically like the North Pole, might we see the effects of walking around a freezing tundra? i.e, needing to bundle up to stay warm, actually finding fires in bars and caves to be useful, etc etc? Of course, magical bonuses against that stuff, etc? I think it would be wild.

That way, hunting for food would actually have a purpose, besides just being fun.

Of course, I plan on hunting a different kind of prey, mwuah ha ha ha...

People, what with my obsession with making vampire characters.

But, the idea of random mushrooms making your character flip out when you eat them is decidedly hilarious. Thank you for that visual, buddy.

So, here's a thought...what about making stuff like Skooma addictive? meaning, if you're around Skooma, and you've taken it before and clearly addicted, your character will automatically pick it up and consume it, unless you kick the habit?

Man, great little touches that could be implemented! 'Hardcore' mode would be super swell!

In the long run of the game it would only enhance it for people that like to really take there time, unlike in oblivion were your character is pretty much invincible by the end of the game. Of course add the option to remove hardcore mode whenever.

I'm REALLY hoping they will, so I don't have to depend on user mods for challenge!

I would love the idea of being worried over not finding food, desperatly searching for a animal. :D
Just would really give the feeling of realism and whatnot.

i wanted to do it in fallout, but the fact that its a game where you shoot people and you need bullets, that have weight , but when it takes a whole clip to kill ONE guy it was a big turn off for me. But hopefully it works well with skyrim since arrows are stronger and most people will be using melee weapons and magic

That's an excellent point. Even hardcore mode needs to have a principle of balance that makes sense. Ideally, the goal should be realism-based challenge enhancements, NOT rage-inducing difficulty upscaling.

Not an NV hardcore mode. Oh by the nine that was bad. Well I suppose I wouldn't mind as it would be optional. However I RP my own hardcore mode so I don't really need it.

Yes.I'd like to see a hardcore mode as long as it makes the gameplay hardcore and not just plain tedious.Hardcore shouldn't make enemies stronger. It should just make things more realistic and rational. Arrows to the head that kill instantly would be a good feature of hardcore, along with the survival aspect that you mentioned.

Yeah. I would prefer the term "realistic" instead of hardcore, as sometimes "hardcore" simply means unbalanced and annoyingly difficult.

Please no! The Hardcore mode in NV was in my opinion simply annoying. I finally turned it off after Rex died for the 4536 time. Other than that, it didn't really factor into gameplay for me. If you're going to do something, do it well.

That would be awesome, especially if they added a meter for magic, like the more you use it, it starts to drain more and more stamina because it is tiring to regenerate, that way making stamina more of a thought for spell casters cuz they cant run as far etc. same for heavily reliant characters on stamina, the more you use your heavy 2h maul without sleep, the more taxing it is on mana capacity and regeneration so its vice versa, that way you can't run around with a heavy 2h and stamina potions and destroy everything then cast 6 healing spells on yourself when u run out of potions.

It would be nice to see my character getting tired and needs to sleep or after a big fight with a dragon my character is thirsty. If there is a hardcore mode in Skyrim I hope there are this factors

Hunger
Thirst
Stamina
Body temperature

id love to see this well implemented, just a thought but imagine if they added this to armor. meanign that if you get shot by lets say and arrow in the same spot twice the damage is great as that are aor armor had been weakend. imagine visible dent and such accumulating in armor untill it is repaired and then it just falling apart when it break(not actually losing it though). soryr if this has spellign erros and such its almost 1am and i just wrote multiple essays for my AP government class.
