The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr by E. T. A. Hoffmann.

In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
But why bounce around to the same damn song?

"The Infernal City" by Greg Keyes. [/shame]
(A lot of people don't like the book, and I'm not a huge fan of the writing style, but I wanted to read it and give it unbiased attention...and I wanted something fluffy.)

Stargate: Atlantis novel Homecoming. Pretty good so far, and a nice change from the typically stuffy Next Gen Trek novel I just finished.
Don't mistake lack of talent for genius.

Crossroads of Twilight and I have to agree with all the negative reviews about this book of WoT: NOTHING HAPPENS! I can't wait to get to the last page where the only important thing will happen!
Twice and twice shall he be marked, twice to live and twice to die.
Once the heron, to set his path. Twice the heron, to name him true.
Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost. Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay.

I'm currently reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. I've always been a bigger fan of literature from foreign cultures than I am for dead white men, so it's nice to read a novel like this every now and again.

At last, Crossroads of Twilight is finished! Now that I have Knife of Dreams the plot can finally move forward.

Mostly currently reading textbooks on animal behavior and paleontology...fun stuff
If I knew ahead of time where and when I would need to physically defend myself or others, I would simply avoid that time and place...but I don't...hence CPL...

Re: The 'What are you reading at the moment' thread
A German series known as Inkheart.I am reading the translated American version. An interesting series is a good way of putting it. But not a bad classic fairy tale in my opinion.
The signature is the common man's attempt at a wise one-liner.
Re: The 'What are you reading at the moment' thread
Two years ago I would have agreed with you. But after I layed my eyes on Gardens of the Moon, my whole perspective on what a good fantasy novel was changed.mulder wrote:No, the series is great, but book 10 is very disappointing!Alucard wrote:Yep, Wheel of Time is a complete waste of time, in my opinion...mulder wrote:Crossroads of Twilight and I have to agree with all the negative reviews about this book of WoT: NOTHING HAPPENS! Grats on getting past WH and CoT. KoD is actually decent, as are the successive books. I'm going for a reread right now, only on book 2 right now, but I'm not sure I'll finish since I dunno I'll care enough to read the muddled middle.mulder wrote:At last, Crossroads of Twilight is finished! The Eye of the World, book one in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
Not too bad so far, the action is pretty awesome, the characters are likable, dialogue is convincing. Still trying to get a feel for the world though.
