1. Threads like this one
2. People saying nice things about something I've said or done.
3. Getting an unexpected (friendly) message from a friend I haven't spoken to in a while, or even from someone I don't know at all. I'm funny that way. I struggle with reaching out to people, but if they're friendly to me, I'm friendly right back.
4. A patch of sunshine that I can sit or lie down in on a particularly cold winter's day.
5. Various types of food.
6. An unexpected, or even expected, outing.
7. Boyfriend saying "I love you".
8. Gifts.
9. Friendly cats. I love cats but don't have one, so seeing a cat in the parking lot that turns over to have its belly scratched makes me happy.
10. Finishing a piece of writing.

Kids who say the darnest things.
Stressed women walking hastily with noicy shoes.
A litter of puppies barking in unison.
Crowning moments of heartwarming.
Getting a good grade on a writing I've put a lot of effort into.
Uh, more stuff..

Re: Those Things That Just Make You Smile.
I could go on a long time about what makes me smile.
Well, might as well start somewhere. Yesterday, I was looking everywhere for a CD that had a song I wanted. I was expecting to find an empty case or whatever. I managed to pick up another CD I was looking for though, along the way. I thought of all the places where my CD might be, and then found it a few minutes later in a CD holder bag-thing. It's amazing how happy you can be when you find something you've been looking for, especially if you aren't very organized. It made me happy anyway.
Another thing that makes me happy is popping the joints of my fingers and toes. Don't ask.
Making a poem generally brings a smile to my face, if it rhymes well. It's like putting together a puzzle, but with words. Limericks especially, since they're hard to think up quickly.
Playing something I've heard by ear is extremely satisfying and I often wear a smug smile after it. Finding the right chords and making it all come together is just such bliss.
I love meeting people with similar interests. Even meeting one person who likes something that I do, like a game or book, makes me feel always quite happy.
When I bake something, and people like it. That always makes me feel appreciated. Never forget, kids, when you're older and married, to compliment your wife/husband; just feeling appreciated is enough sometimes.
Buying someone a gift and seeing them use it. When I buy a friend a book or set of earrings or a nice top, it's always lovely to see them use it. Makes me
Knowing the question on trivia games before the contestant does, or when the contestant doesn't know it. Then I point and laff at them. Ah, ecstasy.

Not in any order.
1.My cat
2.My dog
3.Receiving compliments
4.People wanting to talk to me and not the other way around
5.Those rare mornings when I look into the mirror and think "Wow! I look soooo good today!"
6.Good music
7.Good hair days
8.Saying I hate Twillight when I actually own copies of all the books
9.Getting a nice reply on this forum (:
10.People calling me "Mars" instead of "John" for the first time.
And lots more that I can't list here now.Maybe I'll add some more someday

Here's a few of mine:
Reading this thread
Having a four year old tell me good night
M*A*S*H (although that makes me laugh)
Seeing a baby try to sit up/crawl/walk for the first time
My friends
And being commented that the food I just made was really good. I love that.
I have more, I'll just post 'em when they come to mind.

Umm, Dr. Hooch by Do Make Say Think.
Yesterday or the day before, I was on the bus and a girl offered her seat to an elderly woman. The woman denied, but the girl insisted and then the woman sat down. That made me smile.
Earlier this week, I was waiting for the bus at the bus terminal, looking out the window. A large pack of birds came into sight and all at once landed on a rooftop. Then a few latecomers arrived and tried to find places to land on the crowded roof. That made me smile. (Also how one bird seemed to be trying to make it with another bird, to no avail.
)
What also makes me smile is when people get annoyed at the smallest things. Take it easy!
So many other things, these are just recent examples.

Re: Those Things That Just Make You Smile.
right on ya, mate. it might be because I don't get out very often, but when I do, seeing people go about there daily, busy lives amuses me greatly. I tend to walk about with a grin on my face that either attracts people or scares them away because I am always smiling.leroybrown wrote:Quite simply, people. People always put a smile on my face.
