High elf, mainly because they like to take over the world and have supreme domination e.g. Mannimarco (King of Worms), Mankor Cameron (Mehrunes Dagons slave to take over all of tamriel and return it to the mythic age) and dont forget Umbacano (Wanted to become an evil aylied king and also rule the world).....So yeah high elf is my least favourite

Secondly, yes, they're balanced, but it only means they can do everything OK. Thirdly, way too many people play as them. And why? Aesthetics. "Ooh, look at me! I'm a DARK Elf! I'm so dark and brooding!" After the 1,000th Dunmer Listener poking around the internet, it gets a bit tiring. And as if all that weren't enough, there's the argument to end all arguments: Valen Dreth.

It's a shame for the Dunmer that players treat them as these DARK/EVIL/BROODING things.. when the game has them be regular citizens, happy, cheerful in the sunlight - they're obviously not Drow.

I honestly don't know what's more upsetting, the fact hand to hand probably won't be a skill in Skyrim, or just Dark Elves in general.

Yeah I honestly like the lore behind orcs, and enjoy altmer for mages, Bosmer are entertaining.
All in all though Khajiit and Argonian are a tie for my favorite race.

Haha I agree. Dark elves are so melodramatic. They all survive >insert tragedy here< and become mages/assassins/magesins and go to Cyrodil to wreak havoc and/or gain more power to wreak havoc with.

Plus the fact they remind me of the Navi appearance-wise is reason enough to dislike them.

The only good Dunmer is a dead Dunmer in my opinion. Seriously I can not name a single Dark Elf that I liked. A bunch of melodramatic slavers who unfortunately were not entirely destroyed along with Vvardenfall (This is in my opinion their own fault anyway as a certain god forgot to put down the moon before he lost his godhood). The only race that might annoy me as much as the Dunmer might me the Sload, and we haven't seen the Sload since Redguard (I'm pretty sure at least).

It's not like I don't have complaints about the other races, I do;
Bretons are simply impossible to tell apart from Imperials (but not the other way around).
Imperials have that arrogant style about them that comes from an age of prosperity (which they are likely to lose in Skyrim do to recent events).
Khajiits have far to many drug addicts among their ranks.
Bosmer are the reason the Adoring Fan exists, 'nuff said.
Altmer are generally arrogant pricks
Nords, well their are only three types of them, drunk ones, violent ones, and drunkenly violent ones. And it is impossible to tell the difference between the three of them (Likely to be flushed out a bit more in Skyrim).
All of the other races are generally tolerable, and the ones I just listed are too. But the Dunmer are just not likable. Pretty much all of the problems the Dark Elves suffer from is their own fault. All of the events of Morrowind could of easily had been avoided if Almsivi just listened to Nerevar. If they did horrible events such as the moon falling on Vivec would of never had been a problem (as Vivec would of never had [&@%!] off Lord Sheogorath in the first place). My point is pretty much every hard ship the Dunmer suffered can be traced back to the Dunmer [&@%!] off every other inhabitant of the Elder Scrolls Universe.


Who knows, maybe the return of the dragons is marked by the simultaneous death of all of the Dark Elves in a grossly horrible way ? I won't be complaining if that is true that's for sure.

Here are my reasons to hate on them all the time.
1.EVERYONE (besides major ES fans) just thinks they are insanely cool, i'm assuming because of their name and red eyes.
2.They enslaved my favorite races, i'll never forgive them for that,unless they just get awesome later on in the series.(I doubt this will happen)
3. Dunmer consider themselves best. Even though they aren't THE BEST at anything! Like other races can be. They are just overall OK at everything.
4. I started playing Morrowind in elementary school, and as fun as that was, the Dunmer that populated the game were worse than any schoolyard bully times 100 to me.
5. Ordinators, Hiaalu guard, Valen Dreth, Varon Vamori, and of course every other NPC in Morrowind and Oblivion besides like 5 of them.


On a side note, I think I relized why everyone loves the dark brotherhood so much. There isn't any Dunmer!

Bretons and Bosmer irk me, but I'm okay with the other races. Bretons are completely forgettable, much like Imperials, but they don't have the benefit of ruling the continent to keep them in the spotlight. At least Bosmer fill out a unique niche in the universe, even if they do have the highest concentration of annoying little twits that I've ever encountered in a well established setting (well, maybe the Volus...).

Yes, sorry I should of rephrased that. There is no Dunmer as members as the dark brotherhood, besides the one you kill.
