What is the better horse?

Post by born2beagator »

White or black? and how do you call them when you have left them alone? I am also seeing that they have combat skills, how are those used?

Black Horses.

But the best is Shadowmere, you earn her after you finish a Dark Brotherhood quest. And you can't call your horses back, unless there's a mod for it.

Their combat skills are used when they're in danger, as expected.

So you just have to find your horse again? It won't walk off if you leave it will it?

Sometimes they will wander away. To their doom.

If you lose your horse, you can always just fast travel to a city, and it'll be at the stables. Unless it got itself killed.

Oh, and the white horses of Anvil are the toughest horses, while the black horses of Cheydinhal are the fastest. The unicorn is pretty strong too, but it's annoying since it'll attack you if you pull out a weapon when near it, and if you jump off it, it'll return to its grove.

So, yeah, Shadowmere is probably your best bet.

that one day an Undead shall be chosen
to leave the Undead Asylum, in pilgrimage
to the land of the ancient lords

Hey, born2beagator, a lot of the things you ask about are on the UESP wiki: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Horses
You can compare the speed and health of white and black horses. In general, Shadowmere can be said to be the best because she is a quest creature and wont die.

Personally I don't use horses that much, since you can easily make your character outrun them. If mods were available to you... there'd be some better horses I could recommend :(

this game is already big enough for me without mods
only thing that makes me wish for mods is I saw a mod that lets you play as a race of dragons.

Sometimes, horses fit in with your character.
Imaging you're the mighty noble warrior of battlehorn castle.
It would be a little embarrasing walking everywhere, unless you're really humble.

Having a tougher horse means it would take more damage.
