Whats YOUR magic?
Whats your favorite school of magic?
My favorite school of magic is Illusion, nothing like being invisible, sneaking up someone, and stabbing them in the back with Chrysamere : D

I'm all for scorching the earth and all that Destruction stuff.
Come to think of it, why has there never been and earth element in Destruction. that would make for a wicked skillset.

Destruction is my standard one. I also like Alteration and Illusion. My problem with magic is, i never get to use it... I always turn to steel i.e. sword and axe.

Same here I just pull out my sword (namely umbra) most of the time but I haven't had morrowind long and have not done a mage based game still I would say mysticism because of interventions, mark and recall they really help.Andere wrote:Destruction is my standard one. Mysticism is my friend. It's the one skill I get EVERY game. Teleporting + telekinesis = win.

Alteration! Leviatating, water walking, feather-ing, slowfall and swift swim. Gotta love 'em.

Re: Whats YOUR magic?
Either Alteration or Mysticism. It is a pretty good toss-up between the two. I'd say I don't have any one favorite magic, but I do have two. Those being, of course, the aforementioned.
The signature is the common man's attempt at a wise one-liner.

Alteration definitely, and most of that is just for the levitation and water walking effects. Anyone can shoot a fireball, but not just anyone can shoot a fireball from the sky

Illusion's probably my favourite. I tend to pick stealthy classes, so it had a useful set of tools for me to use.

Conjuration (for the obvious) versus Destruction (obvious) and mysticism (teleportation + soul trap).
Conjured creatures can be very helpful and who doesn't love to shoot lightning from their hands? And, for me, Almsivi and Divine Intervention are absolutely required to make the game playable- including Mark and Recall of course.

Re: Whats YOUR magic?
Sorry folks, but Resto has them all beat by just two words. “Fortify Skill” Resto and even Enchant can replace or supplant any other magic skill. I can cast a Fortify (insert magic skill) spell that boosts any other magic skill by 50 points for 5 seconds, more than enough time to get off a fairly decent spell including Levitate or a 100 point Open spell, and it only costs me 15 points to cast. About the same as the starting Hearth Heal spell. Resto just can’t be beat for all the buffs.

I really like Alteration. Flying, waterwalking, slow fall... And my favourite: Jumping. With that you don't even need Levitation.

Destruction is nice and all for shooting fireballs, but why shoot fireballs yourself when you can bring in someone else to do it for you, and they become your enemies target to boot!

Re: Whats YOUR magic?
Conjuration was my favorite in Morrowind, it was just so useful and fun!
I loved being able to summon more than one thing at a time, that is probably what wins more over.

Re: Whats YOUR magic?
Restoration hands down. Don't get me wrong, skillfully made potions are much more potent, but they're either expensive or you have to go search for raw ingredients themselves. You only have to buy a spell once, and using it is free in terms of money. You'll come out with the upper hand against a tougher opponent when you can heal yourself in times of need.

Edit: Wait, whoops. Thought this was Oblivion.
Well, my answer is still Destruction. It's pretty useful so far. I haven't gotten very far in Morrowind, though, so I'm not sure if I'll stick with Destruction or maybe change my answer when I've finished the game.

I voted for conjuration. I love making armies of golden saints/dremoras/storm atronaches and leading them through towns... killing every guard in their path... hehehe...

Re: Whats YOUR magic?
Restoration!
Some deride it as "medkit magic". Well, remember one thing: D&D's Cleric ain't called CoDzilla for nothin'! Bugak gro-Bol says, "Oooohh, you're a priest! Ooooohhhh, Fortify Strength 100 pts--" *book store splattered in Orc intestine*
Drain/Damage Attribute? Restore Attribute. I am always at the top of my game with the College of Restoration.
I will never die with my 20-30 restore health for 20 second spells.
Tough guys giving me trouble? Fortify Health up the wazoo, and tack on the aforementioned Fortify Strength as a method of cracking small men.
Or just use Fortify Strength to haul loot. Or both.
Fortune favors the bold... or the healer with her Fortify Luck.
Turn that 75% spell cast chance to 100% with Fortify Willpower. Lets you make super-spells that you hardly ever use, but you can be all "Super Soniiiicc!!" and smite the apocalypse. That's right, you're gonna make the apocalypse yelp and tuck its tail between its legs, all because you're an "Ooooohhh, priest!"
Always hit, rarely get hit, and almost never knocked down with Fortify Agility. Superior and cheaper than casting Sanctuary!
Don't feel dirty by casting 100% Resist Magicka for 1 second and then slipping on the Boots of Blinding Speed. Just cast Fortify Speed and live without the hassle! This also lets you cast Levitate for 1 point for a long, long time, without moving slower than a scrib.
Some people just don't listen to bribes or admiration. For those times, you could be a devious little worm and charm them... or you can do the same with Fortify Personality -- Telvanni Bug Musk on Skooma -- and somehow not be considered a devious little worm for doing basically the same thing. Healers have so much better PR than nightblades, y'know? Works just as well on Orcs and Bretons, unlike charm spells.
And then we got the Resist line: laugh at atronachs, daedroths, Vivec, and Gedna Relvel. If ya wanna be cheesy, cast a Fortify Will spell or four to get long-lasting elemental invulnerability spells.
Fortify Skill probably should never, ever be used due to brokenness. But... if you really want to throw down a few Fortify Restoration 100 pt spells, then cast Restore Health 100 pts for 1440 seconds on self...
Don't forget you can cast these on your friends. Escort quests are a heck of a lot less annoying when you give them 30 or so pts of Fortify Speed and a decent regenerate effect (Restore Health for 15 or more pts for 30/60/90 seconds on Touch), to keep them with you and to keep them from being racer-pecked to death while dragging them out of the Ashlands.
Best part? You're not an eeeevil wizard, nasty nightblade, or stuffy battlemage, you're a healer! Who doesn't love a healer? And who's gonna expect the healer to bathe in lava and drop-kick a god?
