I'm getting the impression that you are trying to slam football, rather than trying to fully understand what it is. I apologize if this is wrong, but this is just the impression I get.
Of course not, what a ridiculous suggestion.
If all you want to do is bash American Football, then go start a thread called "American Football is Stupid" or something.
And if you want to mini-mod, then why don' you make a thread about that?
See, first if you are gonna try to be smug, learn how to spell COUGH. Couches are much less subtle than coughs.

Secondly, instead of calling my statement ridiculous, you could have been a little bit more polite, as the internet does not always allow subtlety to shine through and the real meaning can be missed. So when someone gets the wrong impression and says so, its usually just enough to kindly explain your intended meaning.

Third, why would Nitrus make their own thread about why they hate football? They (he/she? help me out Nitrus, sorry  ) said that they would be happy to continue to discuss the original idea of the topic here.

And finally, do you really think that wearing pads, as most Americans refer to the "armor", makes you a wimp. If you are running at a man who is trying to tackle you, and weighs 300+ lbs of muscle, you would want to have some protection as well. Why do soccer players wear shin guards? Its not because they are wimpy. Why do swimmers wear goggles? Why do bikers wear helmets?

:) Simple Typo.

And why would I have any reason to be kind, when I am arguin with you?

I don't think you understood that statement correctly.

Because their sport requires it, and it is not simply added to make it different from rugby.

I may be entering dangerous territory, sorry Hat, but you can be kind to people you argue with. It's actually quite easy to do and makes you seem like a better person to have a conversation, argument, debate, disagreement, etc with. Not being kind, makes me not want to talk to you and I start to have the opinion that you don't really know what you're talking about.

And what statement did I not understand correctly? The one about the protection? Look, those other sports do use protection because their sport requires it. I agree with that. Football requires protection too. I don't understand rugby, so I can't speak on that, but football rules have evolved to ensure the players safety. Equipment has been upgraded and required so that players don't get hurt. Rules regarding tackling are always being reviewed to ensure that it is not dangerous. Perhaps rugby tackles are not as dangerous as football tackles, so they do not need to wear padding. Again, I know next to nothing about rugby, its just speculation

Hopefully this will have started to cool down now, however just so you all know: Please keep the comments within nicer boundaries or this will get locked. I'm really getting sick of this unneeded heat in topics lately.

This is such an old, pointless, and quite frankly, stupid arguement.

American football is not rugby, and rugby is not american football.

We get it

I suppose it's good then that I don't want to talk to you either, and besides, I really couldn't give two [&@%!] what people on this forum think of me, I mean I just make a new account.

Also, no. The one about that person making his own thread.

The thing with Rugby is that in general it's not as violent as the American version. Sure, scrums and tackles can get pretty nasty, but American Football/Rugby/whatever you wan to call it is a lot more forceful, dangerous and rough. Protection is needed bdcause it's a sport that needs that form of protection, like swimming and cycling. Using pads as proof that American Football is stupid isn't really a good argument.

Yes. You are going too far. It's disgraceful, how could you act like that towards people you don't even know. You should probably just hang yourself now.

Okay, this is going to far for my liking and really serves no point but to bash a sport and argue in a stupid manner.

Locked.
