My Big Project =D

Post by Dragour »

Ok as I said the only reason I have really returned is because of my modding obsession, right now I am working on a massive mod (which is going to take me ages but it's so fun!)

So far I am going to make five islands (already made one) each with it's own theme, the first one is an Enchanted Forest and another is to be a desert and so forth, but I have just finished landscaping the first and would like to upload screenshots of it somewhere (probably photobucket or something) and I even spent ages designing each individual NPC, many different types of Guards-Hunters-Scouts and Druids, anyway once I officially finish this island I may release it if people like it =P

Just wanting to know if people have any spesific ideas or even tips for me? This is my very first time landscaping and personally I think I have done well ^^

Edit: Ok so I have started from scratch again, I am working on the first island again which is much larger! And personally is much cooler =D islands and a small mountain path up a hill to a village. There are also going to be three factions per island now, since I have learnt how to script NPCs to fight (hehe) I can set up some small battles! Would take ages I know but I am going to keep the NPCs in the fight to around 1-2 IDs so it's simple to script, but the three villages each have a village (one on an island, another up the mountain, and the other is undetermined) and they're going to be a mixture of races and use unique equipment to make the islands feel as if they're not apart of Morrowind =D

I don't have any suggestions, but please do post screenshots and whatnot when you are ready to do so. Morrowind is definitely my favorite TES game and I love getting good new mods especially when they are quite extensive. I'll definitely be one of the first people to download it if you post it to Planet Elder Scrolls or somewhere. Good luck finishing the mod :)

I would suggest you change your topic, to a as a specific you can. Try to figure out one. It should contain the words mod and project, or something. You can change the topic by pressing "Edit" button in your first post.

Right now, I don't believe you'll get anyone for "My Big Project" - sorry if I sound rude.

Best of luck, pal. Feel free to contact for any help. :)

I really mean no offense by this Andre so please don't take any, but I'm not sure your comment about the title of this thread is all that justified. You told him that It should contain the words mod and project, or something." If you'll notice however, the thread is already titled "My Big Project" which uses the word project and it is in a section about mods for Morrowind which is even more specific than if it were just containing the word mod. I think that given the fact that it is in a section talking about Morrowind mods and the fact that the title clearly states that it is concerning the writers "big project," it is perfectly clear what the thread is about. It's about a big Morrowind mod project...what more is there to say in a title?

Again, no offense Andre. Everything I've seen from you has been very good and your moderating (as much as I've seen of it) has been helpful to the community here. I don't mean to attack you, I'm just expressing my opinion about this specific topic. Thanks again for the work you do on this forum Andre :)

No offense taken, NitrusReigns, and I also hope that Dragour took no offense of my reply. I say: whenever a good mod or good co-operation between members or non-members is born, I salute it. --- And the ones doing it don't even have to like me!

About the topic, my advice was purely marketing minded, how to get it better forwarded. I doubt anyone here wants anyone else?

If you knew how happy I am to find persons who disagree with me... you'd be surprised. :D

@Andere-if people aren't interested in seeing my Morrowind Mod topic then they naturally probably aren't interested in my work =P their loss haha this is still only a mod in construction so when I finally release the first island then I'll probably make a big thing about it ^^

Ok I have uploaded several screen shots to PhotoBucket (link below), the first island is the Enchanted Forest and the capital is Hervia.
Also note that there are three different Druids as you'll see, the white cleric type only stays within the city-the ranger type assists the hunters and the witch is the evil kind =P

Remember, this is my first landscape mod and kind of my first mod beyond editting item IDs haha so please go easy!

Here's the link http://s614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... 20Islands/

Let me know what you think, personally I love my Hervian Guards ^^
Soon I'll also update my NPCs for the Shifting Sands island which is obviously a desert island =D

It looks awesome

I particularly like the naiads, and the lady in the white. The guards look good too.

Great work. What I was struck by was that it seems very balanced and harmonious.

The 8th image, the one with firs, is interesting: I don't know if it's meant to be, or if it's some rendering problem, but the light part up right looks like sunlight coming through a crack in clouds; got me to think about the light... I've been and am a system maker in a space game, Freelancer, perhaps I should take a look in Morrowind's light. Anyone with ideas or experience is welcome to PM me - not trying to steal the topic.

But cheers: looks great altogether! :D

Here are some screenshots I just took of some NPCs and a few creatures on the second island, Shifting Sands.
The Orcs need a bit of work on still as they don't have the whole desert warrior feel to them.

Before continueing on with this island I am going to finish up the Enchanted Forest first.

Here are the new screenshots for Shifting Sands- http://s614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... g%20Sands/

Sounds like your doing great, keep it up.

Here's an idea that I had but never actually turned into a mod:

An island dominated by a large city. The city is divided into 5 sections. 4 outer sections each home to a different house (PC may join one) and housing members of that house (merchants, quest givers, normal NPCs, trainers etc.), radiating around an inner town centre/town square. The town square houses inns, merchants, homes, guilds (fighter's, mage's etc.) etc. as well as a tower that is home to the local regent or governor. Outside the city is not much aside from a few small dwellings and a small harbour. Beneath the city is a network of sewers and caves that is accessible form inside the city (sewers) and also the outside (caves). Here live several tribes (PC may join one) and also possibly vampires, as well as a few explorable dungeons.

Ideas for Houses:
Warrior Priests
Merchant Princes/Lords
Sorcerer Lords
Warriors

You can use this idea if you want.

Looks awesome! Though I did notice one thing, most of the ground is flat. Is that by design, or is it just the screenshots?
As soon as I see\hear about this being release, I plan on getting it.

P.S. YAY! Another Kiwi!!!!!!  42 below for all!

Ok everyone, the reason I stopped working on this mod was due to this computer not being able to handle Morrowind (.. or games in general sadly) but this week or next, my new computer arrives-AlienWare  so it will run Morrowind without a doubt and I am resuming this mod (hence why I am posting here)

I am already replanning and designing the five islands I am to make, starting with the Enchanted Forest (I believe screen shots are posted?) which is going to be much larger.

And to everyone who actually remembers me.. HI!

All of luck, and the best of all of it. I've done some modding --- not always the easiest thing to do. Fun though, when you get it the right way. :)

Thanks guys ^^ even though I admit this is my first mod I have got the hang of designing landscapes and dungeons already (always map editing games =D) but the one thing I will most likely lack is 'clutter', random stuff on tables or the random bone pile in the cave but I hope all those little things can be overlooked for future updates =P

This is my final written design (slight differences from original plan)
There are going to be six islands, all fairly large to make the 'wilderness' seem more dangerous and wild.

The first island is going to be the Enchanted Forest-the friendly people living here are the Altmer who have an island village within the island (=P hehe) but they're at war with the native Naids (mod race) who control the wilds there, from Ents and Wolves, to Spiders and Trolls. This island will start easy with enemies around level 5 onwards (leveling with the player but still staying a but weaker) but at the high levels there will be werewolves too =D

The second island is Shifting Sands which obviously is a desert landscape. The friendlies are Redguards who have made camps (fishing, mining etc) around the island and have one centre village for trading, but the native orcs have become fed up with losing their lands and are fighting back (orcs being the enemy here) so there will be typical orc berserkers with little armour but big weapons but also orc shamans who have begun cursing the ancient tombs and raising the dead (such as mummies, again a mod). The common critter enemies are like Nix Hounds, Cliff Racers, Scarabs and Clanfear-the difficulty starts at normal so around level 20 for the weakest and again it levels with you.

The third island gets a little interesting-it's pretty much an Ash wasteland called the Blighted Land, it contains one city of Dunmer which is heavily fortified and patrolled by dark paladins and knights, the region outside the city however has fallen to darkness.. undead wander, vampires lurk beneath the city in sewers which connect to crypts on the outside (so the war is top side and underground) but the main enemy here is the Mindflayers, raising the dead and infecting the living with insanity. The common enemies are undead, vampires, ash creatures, daedroth and some other dark like creatures =D the difficulty for this level however is hard, starting at around 40 and levels with you.

The fourth (if you're still reading!) is a huge frozen wasteland dotted with cliffs, craters, mountains and anywhere people can hide. The friendlies here are the Nords who live in coastal villages or caves further in the mainland. The enemy are the Falmer who command all power over the ice creatures, from simple snow wolves and bears to snow wolves and ice giants. The Falmer generally have small villages outside of caves where they maintain a larger city (consider the 'village' as a militia home). The enemies are all snow related, and I have to say I like my ice giants =D big battle axes and horned helmets, what's not to love when one of those massive guys come running!.. Wait.. right right, not love but fear =D (they just want to cuddle you!)
Heh well the difficulty here is from 65 onwards

My last island (the sixth is an 'other' island) is pretty much a large mountain, you must travel through the caves to get higher on the mountain where small villages of Arimer reside-at the very top is the Dragon Queen (I've always seen Arimer as Dragon Riders for some reason) and she is tough ^^ this island has no friendlies I'm afraid, just alot of tough Arimer and Argonian slaves controlled by their masters. Oh and all the pets like snakes, Clanfear, Daedroth, anything serpentlike since they are a dragon people =D
The level here is 80 onwards

The 'other' island I mentioned is kind of a treasure island, no allies-almost no land, just a straight cave entrance and for the first sectors (like say 5 cells) you will encounter enemies from the islands in order starting with the weak wolves and if you make it through them all, the Arimer again-however! At the end of each path (once you completed the Forest cells) there is a chest with a unique armour worn by one/both leaders of the islands but much higher quality (so killing the leaders give you a worse quality than this dungeon)

Ok I think I have covered everything!! As soon as I pick up my new computer (hopefully this week.. maybe beginning of next) I am going to get started!

Feel free to offer suggestions or feed back! This is my first mod and yes it is going to be a project for me =P wish me luck!
