Celtic Myths and Legends by Thomas William Rolleston
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
But why bounce around to the same damn song?

Re: The 'What are you reading at the moment' thread
So I'm finally reading Star Trek: Typhon Pact: Paths of Disharmony, and so far, eh. I tend not to read the Next Gen books because lately they get way too absorbed in character feelings and development, and I lose interest. More phasers, people.
Don't mistake lack of talent for genius.

Haven't posted in this thread in a while.
I finished, Secret History Of The American Empire a while ago. Now I'm on Dune. I needed a good fiction to mix it up.

You are reading all these at once? I can't start another book without finishing the series I'm already on. Which can be very irritating at times.Drethelis wrote:My reading list:

I'm reading "The Once and Future King" by T. H. White. Really good book, so far. You just have to get over the fact that no one is going to know how to talk due to the age they are in. Still a good book. You just can't judge it before chapter three.

I'm not reading them all at the same time, it's the order in which I'll proceed to read them. I'm on 1, and the rest will follow.Azura wrote:You are reading all these at once? I can't start another book without finishing the series I'm already on. Which can be very irritating at times.
Great book choice, by the way. I love Arthurian mythology, and that happens to be one of my favorites.Azura wrote:I'm reading "The Once and Future King" by T. H. White.

Re: The 'What are you reading at the moment' thread
Thanks. My dad got it as a Christmas gift last year. He said it was a good book, what. I'm only on the sixth chapter or so. But King Pelinore is probably my favorite character so far, mainly cause he's a dork, and he likes his whats.Drethelis wrote:Great book choice, by the way. Wrapping up The Silver Chair- gawd I hate Puddleglum- then just a couple of days until I'm finished The Chronicles of Narnia.
Re: The 'What are you reading at the moment' thread
The books have sitting next to me waiting to be read is as follows:
Deadhouse Gates Steven Erikson
A Clash of Kings George R.R Martin
The Darkness That Comes Before Scott Lynch
The Left Hand of God Paul Hoffman
The Blade Itself Joe Abercrombie
The Name of the Wind Paul Rothfuss
Krushchev's Cold War Timothy Naftali, and someone else I cant remember?
Im 100+ pages through all of these books except the last, which Ive only recently purchased. I havent been reading much lately, everytime I pick up a fictional book I feel guilty, and so I start studying to remove the sense of guilt
Im not really liking The Name of the Wind as much as I thought I would...

Let us know if this is good. Understanding the cold war and what went on behind the scenes is a handy way of understand geo-politics, power vacuums, etc.Alucard wrote: Krushchev's Cold War Timothy Naftali, and someone else I cant remember?
I'd like to get a Russian book that's been translated into English, and see their point of view on the cold war.

Re: The 'What are you reading at the moment' thread
In the middle of a couple series:
1. The Way of Kings - Brandon Sanderson
2. The Wheel of time - Robert Jordon(dead), completed/ing by Brandon Sanderson
3. A song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
I would recommend the first two to anybody, but don't read the last one if you are sensitive to explicit content (gore, sex, blood, sex, stupid peoples, and sex)
