People are just silly

Post by Venger »

Just like the country song said it, God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. Know any good examples of the insanity of man?

Here's mine. A lady in England returned her Jack Russell Terrier to the pet store after just two days of owning it because, (now get this) the pooch didn't go with her drapes. /facepalm. Seriously?

A weedkilling chemical called sodium chlorate got taken off the market about this time last year thanks to EU red tape. Most people either knew this or would accept it as soon as I told them that you couldn't buy it anymore, but this one customer who was at least 150 years old just would not take no for an answer...

"I'm looking for some sodium chlorate"
"I'm afraid it's been taken off the market"
"What?"
(cue very long explanation, the whole time through which he had a look on his face like I was describing a bondage film or something)
"Yeah, but you'll still have some out the back, won't you?"
"No, we had to get rid of it all because no-one's allowed to sell it"
"What about your other branch down the road? Will they have any?"
"No, it's been taken off the market completely"
"What about that place in Billingshurst? Do you think they'll have some?"
"No, it's been taken off the market"
"What if I go to a chemical company? Can they mix some up for me?"
"No, it's illegal to sell it..."
(This went on for some time)

It still stands as the most bloody-minded refusal to take no for an answer I have ever seen.

Almost as bad as the person who read the wrong shelf tag for a frozen pizza, found out a different brand was the one on sale, but insisted the one he picked out should be on sale too. He stormed off in a huff when he couldn't get the discount. :|

Why yes, yes, it was.

Also, there's a little kid that keeps coming back to my store. The thing is, he stole one of our bikes. He doesn't seem to get that I have officially banned him from ever returning.

To prove that I myself am silly.

It's made out of a broom stick and a dictionary tied to the end. A really thick one.

How does the broom handle not snap? it is so hard to find quality brooms these days. Perhaps I should check Diagon Alley...

The broom handle doesn't snap because I don't allow it to.

The other day I saw a personalised number plate on a car that said SLK 240. Someone really has far too much money to spend. I know you've got an SLK 240. It already says so on the back of your car.

If I were getting a new tin-can of a car, I'd look into getting a personalized plate of 'CL4P-TP'. Then I'd get a Borderlands Claptrap vinyl affixed to the trunk lid.

Odds are good that I can get the plate. It's California— there's not too many geniuses here...
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
