Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
I am working towards geting the new vegas platinum at the moment (already have fallout 3 one) it's so annoying if I didn't love fallout so much I wouldn't bother I still need 8 more trophies for it when I get it I'm so changing my UESP picture to it.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

I much prefer New Vegas to 3. Sure, I've played NV a pot more, but there's just more to do. I want to see Rock 'n' Roll in Fallout 4 though. Slaughtering raiders to the sound of Buddy Holly would be fun.

Yeah, because if for some reason Rock 'n Roll didn't exist for some reason in the Fallout universe, how would the conception of the "Tunnel Snakes" happened?Veck wrote:I much prefer New Vegas to 3. Plus The Kings. Rock solid proof that Elvis existed in the Fallout universe. Rock 'n' Roll would really, really suit the universe anyway.Drethelis wrote:Yeah, because if for some reason Rock 'n Roll didn't exist for some reason in the Fallout universe, how would the conception of the "Tunnel Snakes" happened?Veck wrote:I much prefer New Vegas to 3. Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
Just because the fallout universe diverged sometime after world war two and before 1961 does not mean everything changed. This makes it hard to pinpoint when divergence happened and also physics doesn't work the same way, but yeah rock and roll would be in the fallout. The only reason they didn't have Elvis songs in new vegas is because it would cost a lot and they couldn't have many other songs.

Which is terribly disappointing now that I think about it since Elvis would have been a perfect fit for Fallout: New Vegas, as well as just generally being awesome radio music. I wonder if they tried. I notice they went out of their way never to actually mention his name, too.

They were a bit lavish with the song name references, though.

Directly compared to another Bethesda game, I can see now where Oblivion strongly lacks in certain aspects. In Oblivion you never had a personal connection to the Main Quest. I have thought "I'm gonna enjoy killing Colonel Autum." But I never thought the same for Mankar Cameron.

Ring-a-ding, baby.

Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
To be honest, the Fallout 3 quest feels detached from you as well really. You're either inthe shadow of your dad, or The Brotherhood of Steel, or a gian... Spoilers. The Nrw Vegas questline is much more personal, starting with a hunt across the Mojave to get revenge, then being the pivotal figure in a war that's long overdue to finish.Arch-Mage Matt wrote:Directly compared to another Bethesda game, I can see now where Oblivion strongly lacks in certain aspects. Sketchy thought, but I always loved the feeling when you finally took down your tormentor in oblivion and that whole "I am a champion" feeling was kind of nice.I have thought "I'm gonna enjoy killing Colonel Autum."

I wouldn't really say continuing your father's work is living in his shadow, and you're certainly not living in BoS's shadow since you single handedly infiltrate the enemy base towards the end. I'd say going after the guys that killed your father is pretty personal, too. No more or less than going after the guys that shot you in the face. Well, except you get to him pretty early in the quest line, then you're just an errand boy for either Caesar, the NCR, Yes Man, or Mr. House. You can argue both ways, really.

This is a time line of the fallout universe from the beginning of the 20th century. If you enjoy fallout lore, you'll love it. A bit lengthy, but hey it covers like 200 years. I cant believe I just found this on the fowiki. Anyways, Enjoy

Yesterday I decided to look up the pen and paper that was made. They have an entire wiki dedicated to it. I might play this.

Was that the d20 one that was changed into generic post-apocalyptia or is this one I don't know about?

Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
I don't know? I know it was originally being made by JE Sawyer, but he abandoned it sometime for some reason. Apparently people have continued the work for him, I think. It now has its own wiki. I don't know how generic it is or isn't because I haven't read much beyond the stats generation because that's all I read. It uses d20 and whatnot. The Tom wrote:Was that the d20 one that was changed into generic post-apocalyptia or is this one I don't know about?
Original Game info and links
Current wiki
Edit: I looked up and found the one you meant. It was some company that was making the Fallout game without permission and got like, sued.

Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
Ive beaten fallout 3 four times and new vegas twice. Everytime I put new vegas into my xbox i think "why isnt this game as awesome as fallout 3"
the first time i played fallout 3 it was awesome... When i left vault 101 and roamed through springvale school killing raiders. It was awesome. in new vegas i just get to kill a bunch of punks hiding inside a prison
IMO fallout 3 is much more fun

I didn't know that. Obviously I never looked hard enough at the article. And I definitely hadn't heard of the wiki-based one until now.Cactus wrote: Edit: I looked up and found the one you meant. It was some company that was making the Fallout game without permission and got like, sued.

Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
OK. This is getting annoying. I try to play every game on max difficulty, with the exception of Oblivion, because there's probably some inferiority complex deep down in me that requires me to prove my manliness etc etc. But here's the deal: I don't know if I'm just playing the game wrong, or if it's because I've got the game set to Very Hard plus Hardcore, but I can't make it up Black Mountain without dying in one hit from a Nightkin Master Strike or by letting a Super Mutant get too close. At level 20, I've got a large amount of HP (over 400 I think) and some decent weapons. At the moment my loadout consists of an AP Sniper Rifle for my long-range, a Light Machine Gun for close-quarters, a Hunting Rifle using HP for unarmoured targets, and Maria for my 'fun' weapon. I wear Combat Armour - Reinforced Mark II and I have over 23000 caps.
What should I do? Shall I make the sane move of lowering the difficulty a bit? Or should I invest in a really damaging long-range weapon like the Anti-Materiel rifle and try to pick out the shimmering Nightkin and bloody great Supers from a distance? I don't really want to do either.

Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
Anti-Material is probably the best option. If you've got a decent sneak, your only problem should be the Nightkin. Just take a high damage companion and ED-E to deal with them, and leg it when they reveal themselves. Or you can take the cheat path that I discovered, but I won't tell you about that if you'd rather take the long way.

Re: Fallout Series Discussion (Changed as per request)
I do suggest you take the difficulty down a bit, but you seem pretty fixated on tackling the problem as it is so definitely consider the Anti Material Rifle.
What about sneaking up on them with a Stealth Boy and giving em some grenades or C4?

Here's something for the PS3 and PC players. Dead Money is coming to all platforms. It's not an amazing download, but it's quite fun.
