Re: Races in Skyrim
Anyone else think that morrowind dark elves are 500x better than oblivion dark elves? I liked that more deep feeling of them much better than them having the same voice actor as high elves. They look a lot more awesome in morrowind too.
I hope they will be completely different in skyrim

Re: Races in Skyrim
I really hope they do chariot racing. I mean come on, CHARIOTS on MOUNTAINS! What's not to love!
...oh wait, not that kind of race...
As I always wanted TESV to be set in the land of gruff beardy axe-wielders (and the men are just as fearsome), I won't be bothered by who or what or how the races are treated. Actually, scratch that - here's some [virtual] racism for ya: if Bosmer and Altmer didn't appear in Skyrim whatsoever, I'll be happier. Especially Bosmer... Yes, but everything about Morrowind is numerically 500 times better than Oblivion... Sorry, couldn't help myself!Blackfire wrote:Anyone else think that Morrowind dark elves are 500x better than Oblivion dark elves?

Re: Races in Skyrim
If they introduced falmer as a playable race, i'm sure they could work it out in the lore. In daggerfall there were like three dunmer, and in the first few, orcs were beasts like trolls and ogres. It's unlikely, but i believe that Bethesda is resourceful enough to come up with a lore related solution.

Re: Races in Skyrim
1st. Bethesda has confirmed 10 playable races. Which probably means our standard 10. 2nd Argonians can live in any enviroment. They're cold-blooded which means they have the temperature around them and don't need a certain climate to survive. 3rd The character in the screenshots (the one with the idiotic helmet) runs around half-naked so any weather realism is out of the question. That covers the races in my opinion. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

One more thing - he's not half naked. It's just his arms, but that' not unrealistic since it might be 0 Celsius as well as -50.Dovahkiin_0311 wrote:You are correct but one thing is wrong that helmet is badassmars wrote:1st. Re: Races in Skyrim
Hardly, I don't even put on a jacket until it's -10 C. If someone was living in those conditions their entire life, then just below freezing (in excessive temperatures like -30 and below, it doesn't snow, it's too cold) without sleeves isn't such a big deal. Especially if you're running around fighting beasties. I think you misunderstand the term cold-blooded. An organism that is cold blooded cannot create their own body heat, and thus requires external sources to stay warm. This is why you only see reptiles in warmer climates. You would never see one in a naturally cold environment, as they'd die every winter.mars wrote:1st. Bethesda has confirmed 10 playable races. Re: Races in Skyrim
Exactly, when I go out running in the woods (it's around -10 here atm) I have one t-shirt and a hoodie. At first it's a bit cold but after five-ten minutes I almost feel the urge to take it off. And don't you forget, the character might be a Nord and they have Frost resistance.Symphonic wrote:Hardly, I don't even put on a jacket until it's -10 C. Re: Races in Skyrim
My thoughts on the separate races in Skyrim:
Imperials will be interesting. Now that the Empire has fallen (or at least lost control of Skyrim), most Imperials will probably be in the same position as the ones in Lilmoth. Poor commoners clinging to their grandfather's villa as the glacier tribes raid their land.
Bretons are Bretons. Not very interesting, and there will probably be a lot of them given High Rock is so nearby.
Nords will be making up the majority of the population. I can't wait to see more of their culture. Bloodmoon was very interesting, especially Thirsk. Plus, with beards, muscular body types and face tattoos there are gonna be some seriously BAMFs hanging around.
Woof Elves. Bleugh. Only time I'll be happy to see one will be when I discover The Annoying One. And then I will once again remember why everyone hates them.
The High Elves would have to be out of their mind to be up in Skyrim. Unless that one dude from Raven Rock went on to start a Falmer Heritage effort, and all the blue-tinged dudes left Summerset Isle to live in the hippie camps out in the wilderness, trying to bring back the Snow Elves... I dunno, it just seems pretty stupid to me to have many Altmer in Skyrim.
Dunmer populations are going to be high, I'm guessing. All the emigration from Morrowind will probably mean lots of ramshackle refugee settlements in the eastern badlands.
I really can't see any Argonians or Khajiit in Skyrim, unless they're slaves. The few Argonians ever encountered in snowy climates are constantly complaining about the cold, and Khajiit are used to jungles and deserts. They might be found at ports trading skooma, but that's about it.
Orcs will no doubt be quite common as well. As many of them are nomads, I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of them. More than likely as marauders.
Dremora, Golden Saints and Dark Seducers probably won't be encountered at all, unless there are Daedric ruins or closed Oblivion Gates which have Daedra guarding them.

Well i think that ''nordic khajiit'' are gonna make an appearance because there aren't any information on some sub-species of khajiit,so maybe one of them is gonna be a nordic one.

Artic Khajiit, white fur maybe? And Argonians should populate certain areas, near water preferably.

Well, for one thing there won't be any new races. According to Bethesda there will be 10 races in the game, as there was 10 in Oblivion also.

It'd be nice if they cut the foreplay for once, and just made 'Vampire' a possible sub-race of whatever you chose, right off the bat. Sometimes that's just integral to our character, y'know? And having to ignore the first parts of the story just because your character happens to be a squishy mortal has always bugged me.

Haha, this had never occurred to me since I've never had a character that I really identified as a vampire, but you've definitely got a point there...It would be really cool if you could just choose that...maybe add werewolf too (?)
If I knew ahead of time where and when I would need to physically defend myself or others, I would simply avoid that time and place...but I don't...hence CPL...
