Nerevarine in Skyrim?
While I was looking for information about Skyrim, I remembered that in Oblivion while talking about current events, Altmer, Bosmer and Dunmer may comment on a rumor that the Nerevarine has left Morrowind on an expedition to Akavir and has not been heard from since.
So I thought maybe neravarine is the reason why the dragons are back. Maybe we'll find out during the game something about Neravarine, or maybe we'll even meet him.
I don't know, but i'm sure that he has something do to with dragon invasion.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Meeting the Nerevarine is unlikely, as there is no set race or gender for him (or her). But his or her return might have some impact on the game.

I would like to see some returning characters from TES III, and the Nerevarine would be a bonus. People in Oblivion also mention that Vivec is missing - supposedly captured by Daedra. Maybe you have to rescue him in Skyrim? With the help of the Nerevarine?

He/she could be referred to throughout the game. But never actually met, seeing there is no certainty to what race and gender he/she may be. That would let me know that my Argonian from Morrowind is kicking about.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Well of course you can alter the perspective for role-playing purposes. But if you take it literally, your Neveraine character wouldn't be able to make into an Imperial City prison because there are other affairs he/she attends to. So if your character is of the same race in both Oblivion and Morrowind, than effectively, it is purely out of coincidence. I'm the same here, I had the same Argonian throughout Morrowind and Oblivion. Yet I still see them as different and separate people. I'll probably make the same Argonian in Skyrim, yet hold back associating him with my other Characters from the previous titles.SwedishBerzerker wrote:But what if you played the same character in all games?Spiney wrote:He/she could be referred to throughout the game. Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Two ideas.... have the ability to upload save file from morrowind so that it is your, or one of your, Nerevarine. Would work better on PC, but i have a Morrowind game on my 360.
Also, what if he wore a mask that did not appear in Oblivion (Daedric Face of God, anyone?). If he was killable, maybe have him become a force ghost and leave behind his armor.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Perhaps Azura's quest in Skyrim is to have you penetrate an Akaviri stronghold and "rescue" the Nerevarine from captivity. The kicker being, the Nerevarine is already dead: your mission is to smash the Soul Gem or somesuch to release the imprisoned spirit.
So, if you do meet the Nerevarine, all you see is a swoosh and some glowy glowiness.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

No it wouldn't be your nerevarine but the hero of cyrodiil and the nerevarine should be mentioned by rumors like in oblivion.

only elves can live more than 200 years. I don't think that the game maker will give we a hint that which race they belong to.But they may be a ghost or phamton.Or they may even becomr Incarnates again.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Well, seeing that the Champion of Cyrodiil has been canoned as a male imperial, why couldn't the Nerevarine be canoned as Dunmer? Would have at least allowed us to see him or her ingame?
That's if the Nerevarine even makes an appearance, of course.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
I don't think it's necessary to be able to see the Champion nor Nerevar. It'd just make it less immersive, since I'd expect both Nerevar and the Champion of Cyrodiil to be NORDS.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
unless your Nerevarine character was poisoned and replaced by an imposter, and woke to find himself cursed to 1st level again in the imperial prison..Spiney wrote: Well of course you can alter the perspective for role-playing purposes. there could be clues as to what happened to the Nerevarine in Skyrim, maybe some of the locals you can speak with met him en route..
if done well it can add to the immersion

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
The Nerevarine is the player character in Morrowind, and there is no way you'd ever see him/her in Skyrim.
It's hard enough to fit it into lore. Sending the Nerevarine to Akavir was just Bethesda's way of killing him off. Such a figurehead would continue to have great effects in Morrowind, and would no doubt be running around closing all the Oblivion Gates as the Champion of Cyrodiil did. He probably got eaten by the snake people the moment he stepped off his gondola, anyway.

Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Still, it's not like there can be no return from Akavir. Maybe if the dragon invasion is coming from that continent, the Nerevarine might be tracking them back down to Skyrim. He'd have to be an elf (probably a dunmer, considering Morrowind) to have lived for so long. They did say that the Champion of Cyrodiil is an imperial male lore-wise so they might do the same with this other character.legoless wrote:The Nerevarine is the player character in Morrowind, and there is no way you'd ever see him/her in Skyrim. It's hard enough to fit it into lore. Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Yes, the canonical Nerevarine is a Dunmer male I believe. Plus, he has Corprus disease which means he can't die of old age or sickness. But that's not the point. Can you imagine meeting your Oblivion character in Skyrim, only to discover he's some crappy Wood Elf with ugly glass armour and not Dawnfang as his weapon of choice? (Or whatever your character was like.) It wouldn't work. The reason Nerevarine was sent backpacking off somewhere far and 'never heard from again' was to eliminate his chance of coming back and making lore awkward. The lore is centred around the games, and the games are centred around the player. Everyone has their own unique vision of the Nerevarine, and it'd be pretty irritation to have it changed (for me, anyway).JJSmart wrote: Still, it's not like there can be no return from Akavir. Re: Nerevarine in Skyrim?
Nah i'm not saying i'd like to see the Nerevarine in Skyrim at all (though, incidentally, he was a male dunmer).
I agree that seeing our old characters would be awkward and just wrong for those who didn't coincide with the canon versions of these characters, but i would like to see them sprinkled through the lore in books and maybe some dialog when it's pertinent. This would help mesh the previous games together with this one, especially since the events on other games are directly linked to Skyrim. The Nerevarine didn't have squat to do with the Oblivion crisis, but all characters in all games were directly involved with the causes that led to Skyrim's central crisis.
