Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
fix enemy scaling( similar to fallout 3 would be all right) i heard that this is the way it will be so that hopefully takes care of that
fix fast travel if you want fast travel to be optional at least give other players the choice to use morrowind style transportation modes
also make more guild quests

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
Things I don't want in what will undoubtedly be the best game of all time apart from TESVI, and VII, and VIII, etc...:
- Stupid Oblivion enemy Scaling system.
- Weird NPC conversations:
"Have you seen my sons? I sent them to my farm, and they haven't come back yet. I'm worried for them"
"THAT'S! TOO! BAD!"
"I agree"
- (Related to the previous) Bad AI. I swear, if I see one more NPC walking into a crate, I will go bananas.
- Main Quest made of 16 short fetch quests.
- Spending 5 minutes sneaking up on someone to be able to get in an amount of damage you could have gotten in 3 seconds.
- Changes to the leveling system (Apart from Level Scaling enemies)
- LESS skills than in Oblivion, despite Todd Howard actually implying that there will be in his GI interview.
- Useless, annoying, redundant physics engine. I'm so fed up with books flying off shelves in Oblivion I actually murder all owners of books that fly off shelves.
- A fast-travel system so fast as in Oblivion. (Though I actually felt Fast-Travel was well implemented into Oblivion)
- A fast-travel system with which you have to walk a billion miles to fast travel, or carry scrolls around, or be required to have decent magic knowledge. (Though I felt fast-travel was implemented OK into Morrowind)
- A fast-travel system. (Unless they make a gynormous map the size of Daggerfall's, or even a quarter of that size)
- Untraversable Terrain. I hated to have to find ways around mountains in Morrowind AND Oblivion. Gives us a climb skill?
- Essential NPCs.
- The Levitation act of 421
- Actually epic battles being taken by NPCs.
- Scripted on-screen deaths. If it's scripted, let it be off-screen, or at least have a viable explanation to why my controls are suddenly locked (Maybe I'm in a cell, etc...) (I took this gripe mainly from the Oblivion quest "Caught in The Hunt"
Yeah, as you can see, I dislike a lot of things about TES. But it doesn't stop Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion from being my top 3 favourite games.

Oh sweet Moses YES! I really like oblivion, but that was ridiculous!Rariow un Irskand wrote: - Weird NPC conversations:

Five minutes later, the adorable couple have a chat which goes something like this:
"Oh it's you, hi." - "I ran into some mudcrabs a couple of days ago. Awful creatures." - "COUGH!"
Imagine what the...action must be like.
I used to make polls, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

I loved Oblivion because it had so many quests, but I wished it had more.

I agree, I always thought the idea of casting with your hands was awesome. I understand rings and things if you want a boost in magic. But no weapons needed for spells please!

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
Better dialogue! And not just a better script, better characterization, voice acting, etc. Yes stuff like this is annoying:
"A:Did you hear? The emperor has been murdered!!!
B: Ok
A: What's the news from the other parts of tamriel?
B:Goodbye!
A: Enough talk.
A: (looks at player) Look at the muscles on you!"
But also, what's the difference between Rufius Bradus and Marfio Darne? They both have the same dialogue options, both wake up, wander around town, go to the pub, then fall asleep. Every NPC is basically the same person copied over and over again!
Then voice acting comes into play. Yes I realize that the voice actors are probably reading thousands upon thousands of lines, but some stuff is really generic when it should be lively. I think Fallout New Vegas is the worst culprit of this. Just look at the first person you talk to in goodsprings, susy smiles or whatever her name is. Her dialogue is written like she's some sort of rough westener rouge-ish lady, but she is really monotone and bored sounding. But the main thing I hope they don't port from fallout NV & fallout 3 is nameless npcs. Megaton settler? All they can do is say "we don't like you"!? I'm glad bethesda is completely reworking their most recent games. They need it.

Most staffs looking exactly the same, like a stupid gnarled up root. Also, they should be capable of melee attacks.

That made me laugh. Lots. Ah, good times! No-no, I meant BAD times...PinballWizard wrote:"A:Did you hear? The emperor has been murdered!!!

Poor, repetative NPC dialogue is a serial offender in RPG's. Quite frankly, if all NPC dialogue was junked - replaced with ambient sound-beds (time sensitive, of course) - I'd be happier. A sense of atmosphere is better than hearing "I ran into some mudcrabs... " for the three hundredth time.

I don't want any deemuns beechez in my Skyrim.
Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
i don't want the same system for placing items (on the console version). I spent literally hours placing things in cases in Oblivion and then one tiny bump sent everything flying! Could book shelves and cases have slots that i just drop things into. I want to display my stuff but I'd like it to be easier!

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
That was just because of the old Havok Physics engine they had used in Oblivion. It had very soft and bouncy physics with far too much impulse. Fortunately, the more recent one are far more tighter, but that still depends on how it's incorporated into the main Game engine.River wrote:i don't want the same system for placing items (on the console version). There were several mods for oblivion which meantyou could just equip books to shelves.
So thers no reason why bethesda can't do it.

I'd love to see this. I primarily play on console, and I've spent tons of time collecting books and attempting to put them on my shelves, only to have a twitch send them all over the floor, à la house of cards.kotarski wrote:There were several mods for oblivion which meantyou could just equip books to shelves.

Perfect. The only things I'd add would be fixed gauntlet pairs (wraithguard looked cool with EVERYTHING), no options for pauldrons whatsoever, the inability for my character to wear clothes under or over his armour, the inability for my male character to wear an extravagant skirt, and the depressing lack of a good skooma pipe.Moltyx wrote:I don't want to be the uber-hero of all the land right from the get-go. It was kind of stupid, you never really amounted to anything in the main quest.
Also, if I'm the Arch-Mage and I steal from some random other member of the guild, I shouldn't be kicked out. I'm the freakin' Arch-Mage for crying out loud!
No psychic guards, no psychic merchants, 'nuff said.
I don't want my common thieves and highwaymen to be totally decked out in glass armour. It makes no sense.
No hand-holding bull. Find your way to the quest destination old-school style, actually finding locations by yourself.
Fast travel needs to die, what's the point of a giant world if you don't actually walk around in it?
Less level-scaling, a little is okay. I don't want it to be just as hard (or easy) a game when I'm level one as when I'm level thirty. There should be the places that you just don't tread until you're maxed out. Otherwise there's no feeling of accomplishment.
No having to go through three doors just to get to the Dark Brotherhood until you get some silly key for a well.
I'd want to actually have new stuff to do after level fifteen.
Again, I shouldn't be able to get expelled from a guild that I am the master of.
One last thing, the difficulty slider is not what I'm looking for. There should be easy places in the game, and hard places in the game. Everything should not be the exact same.
Hope I didn't repeat anything that other people have said, but I probably did.
EDIT: I don't want someone else to fight my boss. I mean really Beth Soft, what the hell was that?
Sweet moonsugar
