Everything to be covered with snow, I'd really hate that!
Twice and twice shall he be marked, twice to live and twice to die.
Once the heron, to set his path. Twice the heron, to name him true.
Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost. Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay.

There are some tundra areas, as well as a few forests, judging by some of the magazine pictures.mulder wrote:Everything to be covered with snow, I'd really hate that!

Only 16 quests in the Main Quest, should be doubled at least.

Ring-a-ding, baby.

Oh god you sound like Peter Molyneux before Fable II - But of course he lied there were no finer points and even if you were the worst player in the world there was no need to improve because you couldn't die.Spiney wrote: That would work. I was thinking more on the line of game dynamics. Eg: A combat system that is relatively simple, but also very deep. I dunno, something you can button mash through, or learn the finer points to.
What I don't want: The progression from Oblvion > Skyrim to be anything like that of Fable I > Fable II.
Crap difficulty modifier. It shouldn't be "Yes if you want to make it harder you have to hit the enemy 8x more than they have to hit you" it should be "Yes if you want a harder time we'll make more enemys and better A.I.

Pleeeeeease no more damage sponges at high levels/high difficulty! The game loses all charm when you need to wage a 100-year-war against every critter you encounter!
High difficulty should make NPCs stronger and smarter (and a little more durable), period.

As in in Oblivion - You become stronger when you don't drink blood and are never damaged or punished for it really. Then when you do drink blood you get WEAKER!?!?!?!?!?!JJSmart wrote:What...like blood donors?Jillian wrote:Reverse Vampires.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
Two words...repeated several times.
"BY AZURA BY AZURA BY AZURAAAA!"
On a more serious note, I don't want to see embarrassing dialogues between NPC's (especially not if they're supposed to be close, like, MARRIED for instance) to be: "Hey" - "Oh it's you, hi." - "I heard the fighters' guild are recruiting again" - "COUGH" - "Goodbye"
And also, I'd rather have 50 different spells with different skins, than 50 different skins for one spell (such as damage health stuff, honestly...Why?)

You won't have to be a Nord. Its been confirmed that there are the normal 10 races you can choose from.Arch-Mage Matt wrote:Needing to be a Nord

Levelled Armor and Weapons (It just makes it less realistic to see everyone's equipment change when you level up)
Also by "Not being the Dragonborn" do you mean you want to have a choice to be the Dragonborn or not? Or do you always want to be the Dragonborn? Because I'm pretty sure that you have to be the Dragonborn.
So far what I've seen/read so far all seem like good improvements, they have improved the leveling system which is awesome.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
I don't want to be the uber-hero of all the land right from the get-go. It was kind of stupid, you never really amounted to anything in the main quest.
Also, if I'm the Arch-Mage and I steal from some random other member of the guild, I shouldn't be kicked out. I'm the freakin' Arch-Mage for crying out loud!
No psychic guards, no psychic merchants, 'nuff said.
I don't want my common thieves and highwaymen to be totally decked out in glass armour. It makes no sense.
No hand-holding bull. Find your way to the quest destination old-school style, actually finding locations by yourself.
Fast travel needs to die, what's the point of a giant world if you don't actually walk around in it?
Less level-scaling, a little is okay. I don't want it to be just as hard (or easy) a game when I'm level one as when I'm level thirty. There should be the places that you just don't tread until you're maxed out. Otherwise there's no feeling of accomplishment.
No having to go through three doors just to get to the Dark Brotherhood until you get some silly key for a well.
I'd want to actually have new stuff to do after level fifteen.
Again, I shouldn't be able to get expelled from a guild that I am the master of.
One last thing, the difficulty slider is not what I'm looking for. There should be easy places in the game, and hard places in the game. Everything should not be the exact same.
Hope I didn't repeat anything that other people have said, but I probably did.
EDIT: I don't want someone else to fight my boss. I mean really Beth Soft, what the hell was that?

You don't need to use the marker, set it to a different quest and ignore it and discover it yourself... It's not hand-holding bull when it's optionial.Moltyx wrote:No hand-holding bull. Find your way to the quest destination old-school style, actually finding locations by yourself.

Fast Travel - No one makes you use it. Once again, totally optionial. Why don't you walk around the giant world and not fast travel?
Your argument here is just silly - it's like me saying "AMG I GOT 100% CHAMELEON, GAMES BROKE THIS IS TOO STRONG REMOVE IT." When in reality the only person making me abuse 100% chameleon is me.
I guess what you're saying is - I abuse these things because I don't have the self-control to not do it, so it should be removed so I can't be tempted to abuse them.
So, I disagree completely leave them in the game for the so called "casual" players. I mean removing fast travel MIGHT be ok - but only if you replace it with some sort of system like Stilt Riders.

As long as Beth gives us options, a lot of annoying or game-breaking things don't really matter. 100% chameleon effectively ruins the game, but you're welcome not to use it. I've only ever used fast travel when there was some back-and-forth quest from city A to B to A to B, etc. And it gives the game a far greater size and depth.

This
For the love of Azura, why the heck do people keep making issue with this? You don't like fast travel? DONT. USE. IT. PERIOD. Fast travel, or some kind of fast transportation was a wonderful addition to this game. While I'm really into immersion and hardcore features, I don't want to have to always feel like spending my entire game session running back and forth. Due to my very demanding classes and my duties to my wife and daughter, I'm a mix between hardcore and casual, so during my casual sessions, I don't have time to spend running, and walking, and running and walking during my entire game session. If I've got the time to do it, its fine, because I like to explore. But for crying out loud, why should Bethesda take it out? They put it in to appeal to a larger audience. And they made it optional for those who don't want to use it.
The funny thing is that those who complained about it used it too, for very similar reasons. Its called good game design. And that's why its coming back again. Good job Todd.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
Sure, fast travel is optional, but, the fact that they included it in Oblivion is the reason why they didn't include any traveling services that make any sense.
I have nothing against them putting fast travel in Skyrim too, as long as they also throw in some travel services that make sense, like the Silt Striders in Morrowind.

They should have caravans from town to town and allow the player to join as passenger (for travel) or guard (for work).KalleFlaxx wrote:Sure, fast travel is optional, but, the fact that they included it in Oblivion is the reason why they didn't include any traveling services that make any sense.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
This is what I would prefer, because it balances between the hardcore and casual for the sake of immersion. You actually have to PAY someone to take you somewhere. I'd prefer something along the lines of a ship, or a mage teleport service, maybe even something similar to Morrowind's Stilt Strider's too. This should reward players who have planned their travel properly, without throwing their money away, because they need enough to make it back to their origin. Otherwise, poor players will have to walk. Also, allow magic using players to eventually learn a "mark and recall" spell, allowing them to teleport to whatever destination they have designated. Maybe it can be a high level perk? Not a bad choice to throw into the perk pot.KalleFlaxx wrote:Sure, fast travel is optional, but, the fact that they included it in Oblivion is the reason why they didn't include any traveling services that make any sense.

I'd be much happier with a working third-person camera angle that didn't suck, or if anything, no third-person at all.
Other than that, perhaps a severe increase in the number of quests one can do. I better not be able to beat every aspect of a game in under a week.
EDIT: And also, even though I am having a conversation with someone, there is no logical reason for being three inches from their face. Period.

Yeah, I just got the issue today.
