Re: New Factions
I agree, Owl. Opening up a shop sounds awesome, and so does a blacksmith's guild.
Being in the Nord's native land, could there be barbarians and raiders or something else like that? Maybe if you become notorious and people despise you, you could join a band of raiders and... raid things? Not really a faction in that you gain ranks, but it would be interesting. They made the Thieves Guild interesting even though the general theme of it is stealing. Just a thought.
And an army, like the Imperial Legion in Morrowind. If they have a fort in Solthsteim and heaps of forts on Vvardenfell, there should be one in Skyrim.
Oh, and werewolves. Packs. Clans. Whatever, just something group-like.

Faction wishlist!
I stepped out into the outside world after waking up in the hold of an Imperial prison ship, and turned for a moment to see if my fellow prisoner Jiub would follow before being hustled along by the ships guards. As I walked down the gang plank I saw my first Imperial Legionairre. He was all decked out in a romanesque fashion that caught my eye. After I had finally made it to Caius Cosades he gave me the first tip on how I too could wear the emperors armor. That became my first priority and I bought a ride on a silt strider to Gnisis. I trained in, and wore the armor through the whole game. Thanks to the leveling system I could wear the basic armor and carry an Imperial Longsword and still be darn near un-beatable.
I wasnt a big fan of the OB legion armor and I hated that I couldnt join. My biggest hope for Skyrim is to JOIN THE LEGION! I was just wondering what everybody else wanted as far as factions....any other Legion guys out there?

Why do they start you off in a jail? It's a metaphor for how we all eagerly and impatiently wait...

Re: Faction wishlist!
I agree with the Imperial Legion. I was always interested in the Legion during Morrowind, but I never got very far before starting the game over again because I was unhappy with my character. Also, in Oblivion, the Fighter's Guild was never a very interesting organization, in my opinion. I would like to see the legion return. I would also like to see something similar to the great houses of Morrowind, in order to make different playthroughs of the game distinct from one another, but I do not know how that will work.
This may just be me, but I would like to see two different organizations in Skyrim:
1. A faction which is devoted to Nordic or Imperial religion, especially with Alduin being from the Nordic pantheon. I do not know much about the Tribunal and Imperial Cult factions in Morrowind, but maybe something similar to this.
2. An archaeology organization, as it looks like we will see a return of Dwemer structures. It would be interesting to join an organization dedicated to studying Dwemer items recovered from the ruins, and eventually develop to the point where you discover a significant Dwemer city, or discover how they disappeared.

Yes find a lost significant Dwemer City and then stay alive as it's long forgotten halls are home to a sinister evil that 1. Was a Dwemer Sorcerer or King that is protecting it's ruin or a secret (Possibly involving their ability - The Link or Numidium) or 2. a evil that crept in after the disappearance of the Dwemer.Baram1991 wrote:I agree with the Imperial Legion. Re: Faction wishlist!
I'm just going to list the factions I'd like to see - I'm sure the reasons are pretty obvious:
1. Return of Oblivion Guilds (Including some style of Arena), but the fighters guild seriously... Why can't it just be a guild where you get contracts do jobs, without too much story to follow?
2. Morag Tong? Please!?
3. Apperently Skyrim is filled with strife, in the form of civil war. It'd be cool to join one of the sides
4. Vampires Faction - But this time can we have "real" vampire please Bethesda? None of this reverse vampire, gets weaker when you feed [&@%!].
5. Werewolf Faction!
6. Necromancers faction
7. Guards Faction
Also can we please not be able to join every guild/conflicting guilds?
And honestly, we don't need to become the leader of EVERY guild, sometimes it's ok to reach a "dead end" in a guild.
For the love of GOD, don't do that terrible thing in New Vegas where you could help out guilds, or be an "honourary" member of them...THAT [&@%!] ME OFF SO MUCH. WHy couldn't I actually join the NCR? Or the Legion? Or anything? That was basically a big "screw you" in my face.

Good point Hailey! I hated that so friggan much! They even rub it in with the whole "you'd be a colonel by now....if you were IN the NCR" I know Bethesda wanted to keep your guy aloof and free but I think it shoulda been my choice. Look at it this way. In all the TES games you could join every worthwhile faction. ie Fighters Guild, Mages Guild...ect and in the Fallout series you could only ever be honorary... BUT....the two Fallouts that I played have both come out since Oblivion. ...SO....maybe thats the new trend.....OR maybe the reason it takes sooo much longer to release a TES game is due in part to the depth of gameplay...like joining factions...hmmmFor the love of GOD, don't do that terrible thing in New Vegas where you could help out guilds, or be an "honourary" member of them...THAT [&@%!] ME OFF SO MUCH. Re: Faction wishlist!
Yeah i hated that too in FNV. But in the case of something like the Legion (comparable to the NCR in Fallout), i don't think the player should be able to join as a regular guard... unless people wanna spend hours in the game standing guard somewhere...General Darius wrote:Good point Hailey! But yeah, i'd like to join factions where i feel like i'm part of it, not like some mercenary that's always out of the loop.
As for possible factions to join, we could have:
The Legion
Local town/city guard
Caravan guards (from town A to town B, maybe stopping in some Inns or something)
Necromancers
And then the usual Mages/Fighters/Thieves guilds, Morag Tong or DB, and i really hope there's an arena again!

Re: Faction wishlist!
I liked the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion, but I also miss the Morag Tong. I'm sure that they have been near wiped out by now. I'd like to see them back, however not have the sanction of the local government anymore, causing them to have to work in secret like the DB . Then we can have two warring assassin guilds. One that is more dark, evil, and gothy like the DB ((I CUT MYSELF FOR SITHISSSSSS), and one that is more cold, calculating, and all business, like the Morag Tong (its just business, please don't take this personal -stab-). And make it where its impossible to stay committed to both at the same time, forcing you to a point where you have to make a decision between them. After you have betrayed one guild, they start to put out hits on you.
Imagine walking through a village minding your own business and then you are struck in the back by a poisoned arrow. Your movement is starting to slow as you succumb to the Damage Endurance + Slow movement poison that is now coursing through your veins! You slowly turn around as you see two dark cloaked figures moving towards you...one with a dai-katana raised, and the other with a dagger in a low position, preparing to go in for the finishing stab. They are merely five feet from you. "They found me..." You close your eyes and with a resigned smirk, accept your fate...

Re: Faction wishlist!
Two warring assassination guilds would be great, but i'd really like the DB to be a bit more serious. Not in tone, but in presentation. DB members were like fans of killing people and probably wore "I <3 murder" t-shirts under their tunics or armor. Professional assassins should be WAY less centralized (No guild hall please!), kinda like the thieves guild, and members should seem more detached from their work, not so passionate about slitting people's throat while they sleep.
It'd also be interesting if one of these was gov't sanctioned and the other wasn't, to provide good PCs with assassination "for the greater good" as well as evil characters with contracts for money and nothing else.

Re: Faction wishlist!
Here's mine'
Werewolf clan[including the Were-Yeti's]
Vampire clan-make the vampire look more evil and badass, bigger teeth.
More Daedric cults please,
Morag Tong v Dark Brotherhood.
The two new mage schools
Necromancers and please make Mannimarco or whoever the next leader is look like a lich like in that mod i was effed of when all i saw was somde high elf in robes who was meant to be a greatly feared and old Necromancer.
More Variation in the Imperial guard make them look more romanised like short mail red skirts and such.
Make the nords look like the Vikings there meant to look like not just tall men with annoying voices.
A Dragon cult.
Can't think of anymore at the moment i really want to see Azura's Moonshadow and Our old character as Sheogorath and Hircine again he's so badass.

What are you talking about dude? In every vampire fiction I've seen, after not feeding, vampires go into a state of bloodlust which makes them go crazy and violent, aka, more powerful.Jillian wrote:But this time can we have "real" vampire please Bethesda? It'd be swell with a mages' guild that not only includes hiking and clearing out dungeons.
Also, it'd be nice if you actually had to use, y'know, magic?!

Here are mine again
1. Being able to join different clans of the Nordic populace
2. Any sort of cult whether it be daedric, necromancer or maybe some nordic cult

4. Vampire clans
5.Werewolf clans/pack/cult
these may be not new but it would be good to include them in

Re: New Factions?
How would this affect continuity in the series? I am assuming that if you are allowed to choose a side of the civil war, it would be designed so that your side would win, if the game progressed to the end of the war. You either secede, or remain a part of the Empire, but which is the "true" outcome that will be in potential future games? I understand that something similar happened with the "Warp in the West," but I do not see how that would work with a civil war.Fist wrote:Skyrim is 200 years after Oblivion. Considering that you'll probably possess your fair share of power, and at the same time being a dragonborn that's working hard to save the world, I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick up a few fans or perhaps a cult on the way.
A cult that can throw fire, naturally.

Re: New Factions?
What about a merchant guild. You could escort deliveries, bring back rare artefacts from dungeons for shops to sell and trade. You could get favourable rates for buying and selling as you move up the guild. controlling trade and prices in various cities and towns would make the guild quite powerful.
