1st or 3rd?

Post by Coulsonji »

Do you rather the screen in 1st person or 3rd person mode?
I like 3rd person for observing the landscape and making my fights look awesum ( :P )
But If im in the dark and i really need to win a battle, 1st person it is.
Whats your choice?
I have 2 words to say to you! I can't count!!!

I switch between them a lot. I think I would have a lot harder time getting through the game if I was stuck with just one.

1st person is critical for bow/arrow and for small, tight passages. 3rd person works better in the wilderness or when I need peripheral vision.

1st person is for bows and intense combat, 3rd person is for looking at the world and admiring how high I jump. For Shadowmere riding I use either one.

1. person for sneaking with my bow, and 3. person for blade and blunt fighting.
I used to play Oblivion, then I took an arrow in the knee.

I only ever use 3rd person to check my flanks during a fight, I always use 1st.

3rd person when I'm running around in the wilderness, so I can see where an attacker is coming from. 1st person when fighting, or in cities, etc.

First person unless I get stuck on something or I'm forced into third like when you get paralyzed.

First person is to be used only in motor racing games.
I always get confused in First person, fighting just seems so chaotic. Though I do sometimes use it for swimming.

<3 Third Person.

Bandit: Hmm. Tastes like chocolat, is that right?
Guard: Unbelievable! How did you do that?:|

1st person all the way. How can you tell what your even doing in 3rd person. My only exception would be trying to locate something on the ground. I turn off grass and then go to 3rd person.

3rd person is my preference, as it allows me to see that I'm being hit from the side, or back, while I'm fighting something in front of me.
Gives me a chance to put my close-up foe between me and the one to my side.

About the only time I've ever liked the 1st person perspective was when playing DOOM, or some of the other FPS', where you had a chain gun, and could just spray the entire world with death!

In close-up, melee, hand-to-hand, hack-n-slash, etcetera, types of combat, 1st person is just to limiting, for me.

The problem with 3rd person, in Oblivion, imho, is the "Vanity mode" mentality.
They've got 3rd person view setup as though people will only use it to look at themselves, instead of setting it up as an alternate playing mode, as many of the D&D games, including the Neverwinter Nights games, do.
Sadly, as is, 1st person HAS to be used for most ranged attacks.
Even the modders are unable to fix 3rd person ranged attacks.

(Sorry if that sounded like a rant.)

I switch between the two; 1st person for attacking and general navigation with 3rd to pan the camera around corners to check for enemies.
