It'll depend on my character, but mostly weapon/weapon (long sword + parrying dagger for a duelist, short sword + dagger for a rogue, long sword + battle axe for a barb etc.)

Hmmm, does this mean we can no longer cast spells if you don't have a free hand for it? will make things rather interesting.

I have a feeling it'll be more intuitive this time around, but Morrowind did it this way.Dean wrote:Hmmm, does this mean we can no longer cast spells if you don't have a free hand for it? will make things rather interesting.

Re: Which dual-wield option would you want to play the most?
True, it did. Hopefully it will be a bit more...speedy, then the momentous amount of time it took to switch between sword and spell.
It could be something simple like spells are more effective with a free hand. That would work nicely I think.

Haha, I actually almost added that as an option but then I didn't think there would be shield/shield in ES5:Skyrim. After watching that video though, I want to be able to attack with shields lol.

I like that idea, perhaps they'll just use alternate keys (second set of triggers on console).Dean wrote:True, it did. Hopefully it will be a bit more...speedy, then the momentous amount of time it took to switch between sword and spell.

This brings up a potential issue though; how will they handle selective blocking and attacking on console controllers?

Left and right triggers, I would think.Dlarsh wrote:I like that idea, perhaps they'll just use alternate keys (second set of triggers on console).Dean wrote:True, it did. Hopefully it will be a bit more...speedy, then the momentous amount of time it took to switch between sword and spell.

And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.

I like to play stealthy magic users, so weapon/spell for me. Probably a short sword and destruction/illusion.

Re: Which dual-wield option would you want to play the most?
perhaps you could have spells which need two hands to cast, but they are more awesome (calling lightning out of the heavens, dragging up dead warriors from the frozen earth to fight for you)
i'd go with sword/shield or dagger/sword i think
i'm hoping for more dynamic combat animations and spell effects this time round

I'd also be content with infusing my weapons with whatever spell I have selected. Or shooting fire from my sword. Oh man.Dean wrote:True, it did. Hopefully it will be a bit more...speedy, then the momentous amount of time it took to switch between sword and spell.

weapon/weapon, and spell/spell would be great, can't wait to experiment with these.

in gameinformer(screenshot of the guy inside a cave) you can see the character using a sword and a wand(or staff) I'm curious about that(maybe I've seen it wrong and it's actually a torch, but torches don't have blue flames I think XD)

Re: Which dual-wield option would you want to play the most?
Dagger x Dagger, Longsword x Dagger, Akaviri Katana x Akaviri Katana... Or in case of a sneaky mage I might make, powerful spell x chameleon spell.
Or if I make a barbarian type charrie, double axes.
I honestly don't know who/what I'll make, so I don't know what weapons I'll use. Probably the same assassin type charrie I usually make, so when I'm not using a bow and arrows, two daggers that are poisoned.
Kinda wanna make an insane drunkard Nord guy... just for the sake of roleplaying.

Re: Which dual-wield option would you want to play the most?
Dual wielding [things that aren't guns] in games generally isn't very satisfying, simply because of the complex animations involved to make them look good. Unless your character's some kind of clod footed butcher, styles that favour dual wielding often demand intricate footwork, rotational movement, and also require a fair bit of space in every direction... none of which is very easy to design for a game where the player could be fighting in a tiny cave one moment, and in an open field the next.
Fixed 3rdP camera makes things a lot easier to design (KOTOR, Dragon Age Origins etc), but TES requires a first-person option.
So unless wielding two full size katanas is going to look as cool as it should, I'll stick with the excellent torch+blade combo (as long as I get to smack things with the torch, of course... possibly so that I can set something on fire, then stab the flaming foe to death.. yum!

This I reckon.Red Guardian wrote:-Axe/Axe.
Not a fan of a single one-handed axe, but when you get two it just instantly turns awesome.

Spell/sword or sword/spell or blunt/spell and so on and so further...
Since I think I'm gonna go with a nightblade class I will definetely go with one of these opportunities

Hmmm maybe at very high levels of Strength/Blade or Blunt, being able to hold a two-handed weapon in one hand? Pleeeeease dual Akaviri Dai-Katana!
