-Attribute effectiveness caps.
-Skill effectiveness caps.
-Essential NPCs.
-Cells,if possible.
-Weak gravity. In Oblivion, everyone falls extremely slowly while in mid air. Apart from the player for some reason.
-Intelligence directly influencing maximum Magicka. Maximum Magicka should increase each level.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
none of the leveling featured in oblivion;
like mythical creatures on the road every 5 minuites.
and a lowly bandit in glass armour.
that's why i never level up past level 9

Needing to be a Nord
Not being the Dragonborn
Levelled Armor and Weapons (It just makes it less realistic to see everyone's equipment change when you level up)

-Psychic NPCs that can spot the origin of your arrow from a mile away and run straight for you (and never lose sight of you)
-Psychic merchants that know what items are stolen (get rid of the "stolen" flag, please!)
-NPCs and equipment adjusted to your level... doesn't feel very RPGish

i agree, i don't want to see any infernal city crap. i don't care if it's official cannon, i don't like it in relation to the TES lore. although i think it unfortunatley will. but the game was in development before the book right, there's still a chance.
also, i don't want to see guns or cannons in the game

Psychic guards
Psychic shopkeepers
Psychic enemies (maybe hiding like in Assasin's Creed?)
The PC being a sidekick
Walled cities
Bosmer (I know they'll be present, but I can still hope, can't I?)
Ooh, and no "item halo" when you drop stuff.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
* Endless fights. Unless you're going to officially call this game "hack'n'slash" rather than "RPG", the combat should be much less than 95% of the game. About 60% - with the remaining 40% being friggin' roleplaying, multiple choices and their consequences, and dialogues instead of monologues - would be really, REALLY fine.
* Being like walking robot with no background and personal opinion, and having your profession, gender and race almost completely forgotten by NPCs. Related to the thing above.
* "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM". Make these damned guards normal.
* Interface with giant icons designed for idiots or nearly blind people. Make this looking (and working!) good on PC.
* Being always seen after attacking someone. I want to attack, hide, and repeat the attack!
* Friggin' level-scalling. Goblins are weak. Bandits are no match for high-level character. Dragons are epic hard. Keep it that way, like all NORMAL games do.
* Crappy optimization of the game code. What's the point of super-duper graphics, if I need to decrease them extremely in order to actually play the game? Or, perhaps, you want to offer free voucher for a new high-end PC for all your customers?
If THAT will be fixed, I'm going to buy this game. If not...

Anything that makes the game for casuals, not real players.

well that's the most pompous thing i've heard in a long time, i like how when game developers do something the "hardcore" players dont like they always use the "casual boogeyman" to explain it. God forbid a game company tries and maximize its player base by trying to make things get easier to get into. its not like they make money on the copies sold or anything.Spiney wrote:Anything that makes the game for casuals, not real players.
anywho what i would'nt want to see is such a limited selection of weapon models and armor models as oblivion had. Variety is the spice of life!

Pompous? It's the bane of all TES fans. And it's a regular thing happening to lots of series nowaday. (Mass Effect, Splinter Cell, Halo, CoD). Oblivion was the first step, what might Skyrim be?Vinja wrote:well that's the most pompous thing i've heard in a long time, i like how when game developers do something the "hardcore" players dont like they always use the "casual boogeyman" to explain it. I understand it is a money issue, but they can still make a game for the hardcore players, but still be inclusive for casual players. Good example, Minecraft. Survival mode can be played with extreme difficulty or with no ememies at all. There's plent of ways to implement this into a more substantial games like Skyrim.

i can see where your coming from, it was the "real players" line that sounded pompous :-p but i can agree with you an "easy to pick up, hard to master" motif would do wonders for pleasing everyone from the people that play 5 hours a week to the people that play 40 and beyond.Spiney wrote: Pompous? Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
I don't want
Female armour syndrome, ie armour that's VERY different for men and women (apart from the few where it makes sense in the context, like aureal/mazken stuff), and badly covering for women or both.
Invisible walls getting in the way of exploration acrobatics (you can't go any further this way - is sort of ok)
Bad animation and inexplicably low-res facial textures
A game that doesn't bring anything new.
I generally agree with what everyone else said. Don't know about difficulty, it would be nice if there in addition to a difficulty slider was a complexity slider, so Spiney could have a complex game and 'beginners' could have a hack&slash. I heard Fallout has a few settings like that, so maybe there's hope.

That's a good idea. Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
im not a game developer so i really have no idea but if youve ever played goldeneye they had a mode called 007 mode where you could adjust sliders for enemy health, your health, weapon damage etc. maybe something like that in an "advanced difficulty" option?Spiney wrote: That's a good idea. Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
That would work. I was thinking more on the line of game dynamics. Eg: A combat system that is relatively simple, but also very deep. I dunno, something you can button mash through, or learn the finer points to.Vinja wrote:im not a game developer so i really have no idea but if youve ever played goldeneye they had a mode called 007 mode where you could adjust sliders for enemy health, your health, weapon damage etc. maybe something like that in an "advanced difficulty" option?Spiney wrote: That's a good idea. Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
I've got know problem with the idea of Bosmers, just the delivery. Bosmer should be Wood Elves, but by RPG standards they remind me more of gnomes. Read the lore on these guys and they practice ritual cannibalism, yet in the game they act more like Santa's Little Elves...ch00_bakka wrote: Bosmer (I know they'll be present, but I can still hope, can't I?)

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
I didn't see anyone say this, but there is already a difficulty slider in both Morrowind and Oblivion...if you wanted to bypass the scaled leveling you just scale that bar up a bit and your fearing for your life.
I don't want to see them making Skyrim with a character Dev system like Fallout.
TES is known to me for having Majors and Minors and a star sign.
FO is known to me for Perks and S.P.E.C.I.A.L
In no way should they cross lines, because of the drastic difference in Era, as well as "Fantasy" and "Post real world apocalypse"

Oblivion-like levelling system
reintroduction of over complicated features which they took out between Mw and Ob (eg sound spells, unnecessary skills etc)
a land which is just one big white area (i'd like more variety than in Solstheim from the bloodmoon expansion)

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
I accidently posted this in What should be brought back... But the big fix I'm hoping that they fix, or that doesn't make another appearance is that graphics glitch that occurs when you have about 300 hours with a character, and fires, doors, and magic spells freeze, and you have to start a new game. Man I hated that.

I pretty much agree with most things people have posted, especially what Spiney brought up.
Other than that, I don't want giant, man eating spiders in the game, but it looks like it's already too late.

Re: What things DON'T you want in TESV
1. The old Oblivion leveling and scaling system. This was obviously flawed and they have already done a great job fixing it in Fallout 3. I'm confident it will be better in Skyrim.
2. Skyrim doesn't receive an RPGectomy or massive casualization. I know the odds of it happening in the hands of a company like Bethesda are pretty low, but that's what I thought about Bioware and look what happened to Mass Effect 2. Don't get me wrong, ME2 is a good game, but it just took me a while to get over the fact that it wasn't an RPG anymore. Casualization has been the death of many a great series, but a man can hold out hope!
