I don't think this is a scam. The only revenue they promised you is what comes from the site via ads. This will be next to nothing since nobody will really stumble on that site. If they do, chances are low they'd click on Amazon ads. Seems to me they just want someone to get a decent site together, but they don't want to pay. Can't blame them for trying. I'll bet that's why they contacted you because of your blog. They're probably thinking bloggers are statistically more likely to agree to help them in building their little collection of city information.Cactus wrote:It's a lot more advanced and creative than the classic "Some random guy in Nigeria died and for absolutely no reason left you billions of dollars. I checked out the site for my city, Jacksonville. It is actually kinda cool. They interviewed two people I know in one of the videos.

I want either your hot chocolate recipe, or the brand name of your mugs. I would kill a man for hot chocolate that stayed hot for 12 hours. Care to share?Mrs Cactus wrote:Today I have done absolutely nothing worthwhile. Get a hot plate, that you can set on an end table (and within arms reach). Then make a huge pot of hot chocolate, and keep it on the warm setting... hot chocolate all day.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I was hoping more for some $19.99 special TV offer cup that kept ones drinks hot for days on end. Or perhaps some super-chemically-evolved-and-mildly-radioactive drink that had the same effect.Jeff wrote:Get a hot plate, that you can set on an end table (and within arms reach). But then there is your suggestion I guess. So much less exciting if you ask me. No hoping the TV offer wasn't a scam, no braving death by drinking radiation. Just a hot plate.

You could get this: http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/coff ... ocoa-K-Cup
Then you would just need a microwave, which would serve as a source of potential radiation poisoning, and be much safer than a hot plate.

I too had a lazy day today. I was either on here or playing Soul Calibur IV all day, except for when I made lunch. For lunch, I made a 3 egg omlette with mushrooms, green and orange bell peppers, spinach, garlic, and a healthy dose of parmesian. With that, I had left over blueberry pancakes from last night, and a generous serving of vegi-sausage. And, I used REAL maple syrup, imported from Canada. It was heaven on two plates.

My family and I went out to see a musical rendition of A Christmas Story.
It was lotsa fun =3
Particularly any scene with the leg lamp.

While we're on the uncomfortable topic of shaving, I had to shave my whole body today! Fun! That is, if you think spending four hours in the restroom essentially rubbing every inch of your skin with knives is fun. And then discovering you missed a spot.

I don't know about that website for your town, Cactus...although, having just come from journalism/advertising, I do know that it's a desperate market. Shoot, I bet they have sites for places like Zelienople! I would always double check everything. Why don't you ask to speak to some of the people maintaining other sites?
Today I realized that, on top of ringing in the New Year at a friend's house with other friends in high city style, I was invited to tag along to some super "high society" party in NYC with my friend, who is an editor for a very popular magazine that rolls around on every news stand. Oh, pressure. Not that she cares - she's going to interview some TV star, but me? What am I going to do for that hour in a room full of would-bes and might-bes who are getting photographed and bothered? And what the hell do I wear? And do you strut around the 20 inches of snow we have in heels, or wear boots and change in the taxi? Then what do you do with your boots, trot them around?
Eh, whatever. I'm just going to get dressed tomorrow and not care about it. To hell with expectations!

Gah, I love musicals. Though my faves are Jeff Wayne's: The War of the Worlds and The Journey to the Center of the Earth.Cylo wrote:My family and I went out to see a musical rendition of A Christmas Story.

But there's nothing like a good Christmas Musical.

That's more or less my impression after I spent some time looking stuff up. I initially wanted to call it fake, but I can't find anything to actually show me that, and plenty to make me think it's legit. And as you pointed out, then didn't ask for anything except for me to work.
The problem is that I can't seem to find their "proposal in detail and the advantages to work with" them anywhere, just descriptions that aren't unlike the ones in the email. Still, interesting things, such as:
I dunno, it might be kind of fun, actually. Might make a few dollars here and there, too. I think I'll email them back.

So does that mean by contacting me, the mayor or whatever of Jesup declined? Okay, so maybe it is more detailed. Looks like all I'd really do is approve videos and I'd be at least semi-responsible for getting the website known on a local level. I've NO idea how the crap to do that. One thing I've always been terrible at: advertising.CMF wrote:Like all the tools offered by the CITY MEDIA foundation, the City.vi network sites can be administered by the local authorities, particularly the mayors, representatives and various officials of these cities and regions. So I'm closing out the books, doin' the finances, and I call a place I had a loan with, to make sure it gets paid off this month... it was indeed paid off... last year, Dec '09...?!? ...so it appears I had a savings account I was not fully aware of.
Unfortunately, their bank was closed today, so I have to wait until next week.
Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So yesterday I left the forums very suddenly on account of feeling miserable. I sort of stuck around and came back time to time until I was threatened by a certain UESP veteran, so I really left and went to bed for fear of my life and general safety. I woke up feeling miserable, so it didn't work. Hell of a start to a new year.
