I'm just brainstorming here so don't make fun of it.

My name means blacker than the darkest leather,
Even if there are sparkling, white, flowing feathers.
The budding alchemist could make 2 dozen people dumber here,
Although a magic user would never be able to do it anywhere.

Yeah, it's bad and it took me two hours (with breaks in between) to make, so shush up if you're going to say it's bad :P

Onyx Caverns?

it's got plenty of wisp stalk caps and cairn bolete to make damage intelligence potions, and it's the only cave that has an synonym for black in it's name.

I'm really hoping that's what it is. I just spent half an hour digging through the wiki on a hunch that you were talking about a place for making damage int pots.

I was thinking of Charcoal Cave (flowing feathers? yeah, I know) but I think Onyx Cave would be closer :)

I didn't get the feathers part at all. I assumed you were using it as a way of describing wisp stalks?

I'll explain it like you did with the rats:

My name means blacker than the darkest leather, - Charcoal, the name
Even if there are sparkling, white, flowing feathers. - The waterfall in front
The budding alchemist could make 2 dozen people dumber here, - there are 24 carin bolete caps and 39 wisp stalks here
Although a magic user would never be able to do it anywhere. - there are no available spells for purchase that damage an attribute

It might be a lie or it could be the truth.
One thing's for certain, I'd kill for this loot.
Find it for me and I might split it with you.

I'm trying something a little different here. I'm going to articulate a character's thoughts, you tell me who it is.

"...you know, I think this place is misnamed. There are hardly any trees..."
"...Jeez....are these guys always this horny?"
"...oh, another one skulking aro- HEY! I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!" -attacks-

I have a couple more lines in mind if no one gets it quickly.

well this isn't really a riddle. it's your interpretation of a third party's inner monologue.

True, but it is a very unique character.

Next line:
"...oh, great, now a horned one wants me DEAD!"

Bingo. :D It's called Harcane's Grove, but a grove is usually a clearing in a forest, the Minotaurs are "horny", he attacks as soon as he sees a weapon, and a "horned one", Hircine, wants him dead.

Bandit: Hmm. Tastes like chocolat, is that right?
Guard: Unbelievable! How did you do that?:|
