Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
Lets look at ourselves in the life of NPC's in Oblivion.. I will pick some interesting ones..and you can continue. I hope this raises great discussion
Uriel Septim - You ruled in all 4 Elder Scrolls games. A 65 year rule..until you get a sword in your back. Assasinated by the Mythic Dawn, your life ends.. in a way you actually knew it would a long time ago. So you know when you are going to die, and you died getting stabbed by a Mythic Dawn. At least you ruled a Kingdom for 65 years! You successfully ruled. The people clearly loved you, and the Blades guarded you with their life!
The Gray Fox - You rule the Thieve's Guild. A guild meant to just steal crap from people's houses, shops, and more. You can turn invisible at will. You are one of the most INfamous NPCs in all of Tamriel. You apparently have been running this guild for over 300 years...are you invincible? You wield one of the beastliest, most outrageously enchanted headgears in all of Oblivion. It is the only cowl. You are the face of ALL of the wanted posters in Oblivion.
Valen Dreth - You are arguably one of the most recognized NPCs in all of Oblivion. Your name sounds like a Star Wars character. You are pretty infamous. You show some humor, and hate every single player who has ever made a character in Oblivion for some reason. You seem to spend your whole life into Oblivion. If a player decides to do the Dark Brotherhood they see that you are about to leave prison, but they soon assassinate you. Oh, and you laugh like a FREAK.
Kalthar - You are probably the ugliest person in the WHOLE game. I don't even know what race you are without researching. You sleep in the Leyawiin Mage's Guild Basement every night, and walk around it during the day. Fun. When a character looks for a recontamination from your guild.
They find that you are a jerk. All you want is to advance in the guild ranks..you are kind of depressed. He goes an gets an amulet, you confront him, he kicks your butt. Not that good of a life lol.
Imperial Legion Guard - You spend your time saying "Stop, you've violated the law" to law breakers. You have a lot of health, and kick some butt to some criminals. You are supreme trained warriors. You are pretty much numberless in war.. TOO MANY of you. You seem to like to drink ale.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-npc-Im ... _Guard.jpg, and what not. You don't like rats.
---------------------
This thread is to be added to. Let's discuss the life of certain NPCs. This will be interesting. Who do you think has the life, and who's life sucks? Who do you want to be? Who owns in combat? Who is a weakling? Who looks coolest? Who is ugliest? Who is best, at what?

Gwinas - Seems a pretty nice enough Wood Elf. Wants to get into the Mythic Dawn, poured over the first two volumes and traveled far from home in order to get a third. Has corresponded with a Sponsor in the Cult who sees potential in the fellow. But as soon as some stranger walks up and accuses the Mythic Dawn of murdering the Emperor, Gwinas immediately "sees the light" and wants to do nothing else but see the Mythic Dawn thwarted...
...makes you wonder why the Mythic Dawn wanted to recruit the schmuck in the first place.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Mythic Dawn is just evil, and creepy..they don't have many people wanting to join so they just grab anyone.

Adoring Fan: Seriously, you need a better hobby then hanging around someone who purposely gets you killed. And if you're going to go into a dungeon with me, wield a weapon. Even a butter knife would be better then holding that torch and running away. Here's a tip,
Get some combat training...

Re: Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
Desperate enough to allow a half-hearted recruit provide an easy means for a Blades agent to infiltrate the group? I can see why they were destroyed. I can't see how the Blades allowed Uriel Septim and his sons to be murdered so easily by these very same folks.WartBoy95 wrote:Mythic Dawn is just evil, and creepy..they don't have many people wanting to join so they just grab anyone.

The Adoring Fan somehow follows you everywhere you go unless you tell him otherwise. Want to know the weird thing? He doesn't cling to the Gray Prince when he is Grand Champion, but when you become that rank he drags on your ankles.

Mythic Dawn people are just CRAZY. Literally. I also don't believe that the assassinations were done so easily.Dark Spark wrote:Desperate enough to allow a half-hearted recruit provide an easy means for a Blades agent to infiltrate the group? Re: Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
Well, that's the trick: the Mythic Dawn were either canny enough to thwart the Blades, or careless enough to let the Blades infiltrate the group.
How could the Blades not know the Mythic Dawn's operations before the murders, if the cult was so desperate that they'd unwittingly recruit a spy into their midst?

But he likes female Dunmers....... Altough if she refuses his offer, Valen will go all like "You will die in here, die!" Go figure.and hate every single player who has ever made a character in Oblivion for some reason.

Re: Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
Meh, true.. but evidence shows he wants us all to die! Everyone will be chanting.."Valen Dreth!, Valen Dreth, Valen Dreth!!!".
Maybe the Blades just didn't want to get involved with their outrageous faction. They left the little creepers alone. Then again they did want them all dead. It makes you wonder how dumb of a group the Blades are letting the Emperor, and all of his sons just get absolutely assassinated, and the Mythic Dawn still runs to this day. The Dark Brotherhood got eaten alive by its Black Hand, but the Mythic Dawn freaking assassinated the Emperor. Who is a better assassin?Dark Spark wrote:Well, that's the trick: the Mythic Dawn were either canny enough to thwart the Blades, or careless enough to let the Blades infiltrate the group.

Yeah, but like 12 Mythic Dawn assassins at least died in the process. A Dark Brotherhood member single handedly killed the Imperial Legion CommanderWartBoy95 wrote:The Dark Brotherhood got eaten alive by its Black Hand, but the Mythic Dawn freaking assassinated the Emperor. Who is a better assassin?

You drive a hard point. My point is that Mythic Dawn are clearly skilled in the arts of "MURDER". <----- Think about that in the Imperial Guard voice.

Re: Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
The majority of the Mythic Dawn aren't what you'd call "smart," they are used/viewed as mindless pawns by superiors, their purpose is to be postioned on Mankar Cameron's chessboard that is the empire. Much smarter people than the assassins used plotted and set up the murder, the agents who did it were just told to be there.
Also the Dark Brotherhood has assassinated emperors in the past, see: Lore.

THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES
Re: Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
Can't really blame the Mythic Dawn, or the Dark Brotherhood... it was the same person who destroyed both Factions.
They may well have been very good at what they do... I was just better.
Doing a Random Page thing:
Salmo: An Altmer Baker who lives in Skingrad. He is well known for his Sweet Rolls. Saddly, being so famous, he still wears Sack Cloth Shirts and Pants. Maybe if he were to sell his baked goods himself, rather than selling them to the Two Sisters Lodge, who make the real profit. Oddly he is also gender confused, and many of the Skingrad Residents have only seen him out at night in Drag, which is why most of them refer to him as her. Maybe that is why he has to wear the Sack Cloth Clothing, as Womens Dresses are rather expensive.

Branwen- You are the daughter of Owen, a crabby, Redguard bloodworks master. You desperately want him to acknowledge and accept you, so you train long and hard for the day you become Champion. I doubt he'd care if you challenged me, but I would. I would not kill you and accept you as my own.
Re: Looking into the lives of NPCs in Oblivion.
You should make this a game. Say their description, then guess who they are?

Reminds me of the "NPCs as kids" thread doing exactly that - guess it died though! And of course - trivia

It sounds a lot like Trivia... it is also against forum rules to have forum games... Trivia was Grandfather Claused.
