I've just hit big at Gommorah, and I'm trying to choose between the Light Machine Gun, Brush Gun and Anti-Material Rifle for my big super weapon. Any thoughts on which one I should go for?

I never really used the LMG or Brush Gun. However, I took the AMR and decimated the Sloan Quarry with a good combination of sneaking and choice ammo.

Also, what's your luck? Playing with a 10 (Starting at 8, and boosting it [temporarily] to 10 for me) is a very nice source of income when you hit the Strip.

(More like rob, actually.)

I started on Luck 5, took an implant in it and always have the Naughty Nighwear at hand, so I can get it to 7 max (just enough to give me the Blackjack advantage). I was going to get an AM Rifle anyway, but when 4 bullets take up a whole unit of weight and it takes a couple of seconds to fire the next shot, you can't help but worry about how useful it's going
to be against stuff like Cazadors.

Also, has anyone noticed that giving companions Stimpaks seems to lower their health? Or is that just some bizarre glitch only I have?

Wow, Dead Money... I mean wow... Absolutely freaking impossible, but brilliant. If you're planning on visiting it on Hardcore mode, you might want to brace yourself. And for Atom's sake, get your Survival/Medicine skills up.

Boone has his uses, but I play a Sniper anyway, so he doesn't really provide that much support compared to what he'd do for other classes. Now
that she's been fixed to level properly, and gets a new perk from Dead Money (not really a spoiler, if you know anything about it then you can put two and two together to work out why) she's much more useful.

Who?

Also, it's official: The Brotherhood of Steel is the single least intelligent faction in the Mohave Wasteland. I just got into their base with Veronica as a follower, so they really have no reason to trust me yet. At their weapon shop, I'm not allowed to have "restricted" weapons yet, but their supposed "unrestricted" stuff includes:
  • The anti-materiel rifle. They let outsiders have access to an anti-tank sniper rifle? Seriously?
  • Two ballistic fists. If you've never used them, they're basically power fists that fire shotgun rounds at whatever you're hitting.
  • A super sledge. A pneumatic sledgehammer and the most powerful melee weapon in the game is available to anyone who happens to pick up one of their supply collectors and know where their base is.
  • A thermic lance. It's basically a giant flaming sword.
  • An automatic grenade launcher. Do you even want to survive in the wasteland?
  • And last, a Fat Man. Do I even need to explain how stupid this is?

Silly me, I meant to say Veronica. And to the Brotherhood, that kind of tech is barely
worth them keeping. They're only interested in the high powered energy weapons, not some aged sniper rifles.

Oh god, the radio channels are SHÍT! They only play two songs and they're on loop. Oh yeah, and every 20 minutes, MISTA NEW VEGOZ pops in to tell about "Gonorrhea, it's our little secret..."

I only like Blackrock Mountain because THEY TALK ABOUT CRUSHING LEETLE BABY MEN. It is seriously the only good radio channel. Oh GNR, where art thou.

If we had PC, we could download Doros's radio mod. Alas, we are not blessed.

And it's Gommorah. One of the two towns destroyed by vengeful god for their sins, if I remember rightly. I miss GNR.

Wow...

I like the radio stations, including Mr New Vegas. However, I do greatly prefer Three-Dog and GNR. He really needs a powerful signal booster. I think maybe you're right though, Blackrock is funnier, but limited since it only covers about half the map. Plus if you get Raul it gets cut off.

To be honest, I'd love to see a station piloted by Three Dog, Tabitha and "Rhonda", with just some 50s Rock 'n' Roll and Blues, with maybe the odd Ink Spots or Sinatra song. Oh, and Butcher Pete obviously.

My problem with Three-Dog was only that his portrayal of the Wanderer was extremely... skewed.

"We have another story about that son of a [&@%!] from 101. Wooooo weeee kids, that crazy kid's done it again by saving a bunch of orphans from a fire. What a great guy."

I get that the first bit is karma and the second about the actual quest, but still. He could have put some thought into it. That and hearing this as I'm walking down the hill at level 2, having JUST walked out of the tutorial:

"Two weeks, kids. It's been two weeks..."

Just because I killed finished Mr. Crowley's quests by shooting them in the head (like he suggested), Three Dawg said that "man, that kids an [&@%!]", but because I saved Megaton, he was like "lolz, that kid is great"

Mr. new Vegas sucks though. His voice isn't even that sexy like Three Dog's is. Even Tabitha's got more sparkle than he has.

Yeh, but it's weirder when it's in like, one sentence.
"That piece of crap son of the Devil just rescued fifty puppies from a garbage crusher and MAN is he an awesome guy!"

New Vegas isn't sexy, I guess...
But he's charming in his own way. Like a grampa. It's funny that we all prefer Three-Dog because Mr. New Vegas is played by Mr. Las Vegas, a real radio DJ.

The voice acting is generally better in other places though. I miss Liam Neeson, but some characters have great voices. Big Sal's my favourite now.

Oh, I concur. I thought the game was much better in terms of acting. The only problem with characters, really, was in writing. Not that anyone was poorly written, but I just didn't find anything or anyone that memorable. Yknow, like the giant communist hating robot? There's nothing quite like that in the game. Well.. except that crazy guy in Novac. I love him. He reminds me of the hermet from DragonAge. I kept expecting him to ask me to kill an old oak tree.

Yeah, there aren't enough "COMMUNIST DETECTED ON AMERICAN SOIL" comments. The different tribes are pretty memorable. Oh, and Mister Handys and Gutsys suck now. Are they trying to appeal to the Justin Bieber fanbase with them or something?

Some of the more unique characters are pretty memorable though. Arcade's got some great lines. Caesar and T-t-t-Ten of Spades make me laugh as well.

Oh yeh, they're great characters. I love Arcade partially because he's Chuck, which is an awesome show. Just.. they don't stand out as much. I mean, if someone said "Name some really memorable characters from the Fallout series (keep in mind I've played Fallout 1, but I'm not very familiar with it) I'd say stuff like "Well, Liberty Prime was awesome. I love Mr. Burk because he was just creepy. Moira Brown was insane and hilarious. The hermit in Novac is cool. I love three-dog, and all those kids in Little Lamplight and..."

That's my point. Not just characters, but situations. Storming the Enclave with a giant robot doesn't really stand up to running across a dam in a huge fire fight. Not that there's anything wrong with that scene, it was crazy and I enjoyed it, but it just wasn't the same.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It's lost the epic feel, but replaced it with something more personal, with the whole hunt for Benny, and then choosing a faction to fight for. Dead Money's also added the desperate survival aspect to the game as well.

Perhaps the eventual Fallout IV or Fallout: Some Random New Place will be both epic and personal. I think I love both games equally, just for slightly different reasons. I also noticed there doesn't seem to be random encounters anymore. I never ever have stuff happen to me. In fact, I rarely run into creatures when just walking around. I can almost run from Vegas to Goodsprings and fight like, 10 dudes and a scorpion.
