Do not have horses unless you do it like Red Dead Redemption. Them's some fine horses.

Re: Mounted Transport
Maybe they didn't include horse combat because it would be to overpowered. You'd be able to outrun almost anyone while pelting them with arrows and magic. I'd still wish they would include it, though...

This brings up another quandry... should there be horse-drawn carts and carriages?

Re: Mounted Transport
If you remember on oblivion your angle of view while on a horse was 180 degrees, you could'nt ever look behind you. Also reversing on a horse is very slow this means that you would have to be facing the enemy to attack them and you can only run towards them.Ajax wrote:Maybe they didn't include horse combat because it would be to overpowered. Re: Mounted Transport
Horse combat could be balanced by allowing bandits and other hostile NPCs to fight from horseback aswell. You may THINK you're being clever by running away on your horsie, unleashing an occasional arrow, but that's only until the guys chasing you hop on their own horses and catch up.Ajax wrote:Maybe they didn't include horse combat because it would be to overpowered. Re: Mounted Transport
Flying mounts would be awesome, maybe a young dragon from a dragon egg you can steal from a nest. The quest would be very dangerous, to compensate the awesomeness of having a flying mount.

Re: Mounted Transport
As for dragons, I think that if were to ever mount one, it would be at or near the end of the main quest, in an epic battle of tamriel vs. Akavir. It would probably only be a one time thing...

Mounts
So, what type of mounts do you guys want to see in Skyrim? I would love to be able to ride Saber Tooth Tigers.

Sabre Tooths in Skyrim? Someones been playing WoW.
I don't know the fauna of Skyrim, but I would go for the biggest, heaviest and most Hardy animal I could find.

I'm hoping for a Senche/Senche-Raht companion, and maybe a unique summon for some sort of steed (perhaps a new Daedra species?)
@Spiney: The Game Informer article does mention sabre-toothed cats and wooly mammoths wandering through the wilderness...

something big, hairy, and mean, but no 'caveman-era-esc' fauna
so maybe a hairy rhino, hippo or a bison

Re: Mounts
NOT DRAGONS!!! If I get to fly, I want to do it by my own power (my Hoverpants of Sheogorath (personally enchanted and named) in Morrowind were EPIC) godsdamnit! If flying is necessary, then let there be quest rewards! Or scrolls (Icarian Flight, anyone?) or potions liberally scattered around the places where flight is necessary! I don't want dragon mounts!!!
With that rant finished, I would quite enjoy giant wolves, or maybe some bristlebacks like those godsdamned Rieklings in Bloodmoon. Or maybe a Bosmer slave on all fours!

Re: Mounts
This is probably pushing it way too far, but i was thinking maybe a dragonesque, wingless land creature. Like a large lizard with dragon-like features.

Perhaps, riding on the shoulders of a Nord?
"They'll never see through this disguise!"
"I'll never see through this cloak!"
"Shh! Someone might hear you!"
"Whoever heard of a ten-foot tall Argonian warrior, anyway!"
"We'll strike fear into their hearts— Ni Ni Ni Ni Ni Ni Ni Ni!"
"What are you saying!?"

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Re: Mounts
there was such a thing as a woolly rhino. would be a bmf-in mount. and i think mammoths and sabre tooth tigers have been confirmed, though not as mount necessarily. don't quote me on that confirmation.ChaosDawns wrote:something big, hairy, and mean, but no 'caveman-era-esc' fauna

I really prefer the crawling Bosmer idea. But that's the Dunmer in me talking.Dark Spark wrote:Perhaps, riding on the shoulders of a Nord?

Re: Mounts
Just horses, and maybe an elephant...
Nothing else is fit for riding. I'd love to see you tame a saber tooth lion, or a bear, or even attempt to balance on one (even if you had a spell to tame it).
