I'd say that there's definitely a "roth" sound, which means they're more likely saying Hrothgar, not Wulfharth.Craigus_d wrote:Congratulations for getting this because the first few times I listened to it I could not understand a word of it. Hrothgar is interesting as in the Elder Scrolls it is a place (though there is a random Nord with the name in Oblivion), in real life there was a Danish King with the name and apparently it's been used in WoW too, which convinced me that the name won't be used in ES lore again. I've convinced myself that they instead say Wulfharth, but I'm not sure what anyone else thinks about that. I'm sure there's a 'harth' sound, but I'm not sure about a W. Using your transcription, I think it is:Somhovd wrote:Take note of is the choir singing at the end of the trailer, the following may not be 100% accurate but I believe it is close enough:

Corrections welcome. Either way, this is really interesting, particularly the 'sole single son' line.
Hrothgar's Blood could be a reference to the Greybeards or the Falmer, both of which are referenced here: http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:High_Hrothgar. There may well be more to Hrothgar than we know about, some connection between it and the Dragon Born, maybe.

Re: The Dragon Born
I actually think that the dragons are being summoned. in the trailer they say that oblivion was just a set back which makes me assume that those dudes who where trying to summon mehrunes dagon are up to their no good tricks again. but I believe Dovahkiin will be the PC, but you aren't there yet you gotta attain it. so you just kinda chillax and attain awesomeness make friends with some dragons learn ya got some awesome part dragon heritage, because your great-grand-mommy had a thing for flying lizards, that allows you to glide, breath fire, and talk dragon language. so yeah tats meh theory.

Maybe if you are dragon born you'll get to become emperor by the end of the game, or if you have to find the dragon born you restore the empty seat on the throne.

If the ''Dragon Born'' is a Septim, then he/she would have to be a human... Most likely Imperial or Nord (since Tiber Septim was a Nord)

Re: The Dragon Born
I see it likely something like this will be implemented: You start out in jail or something like that when the dragons start attacking, which sets you free by destroying your prison. It will start off with that one dragon doing that. Then the civil war of Skyrim starts, and you help out one side of your choice. Then at the climax of that the dragons come and waste everything, which bands the Nords together again. They send you on a few quests to help out the cities and villages and such, until you talk to some noble, who will send you on a long quest to find Dovahkiin. At the end of that bit you find, and as your'e bringing him home, he dies, but not before he can pass the dragon born stuff on to you, after which you have to come back to the noble and tell him what happened, then you go out to stop the dragons come back. After that it gets fuzzy, such as Is it another Akaviri invasion? is continental shifting bringing a new continent into play that swarms with dragons? Could the dragons have been living underground the whole time? Either way, you'll stop, kill, or befriend the dragons and end the main quest, or else, you will stop the real cause of the dragon threat, cause your'e the dragon born. Then there will be a climactic battle with the real cause, and you will become the hero of Skyrim, (or Tamriel) at which point they build monuments to you which will be wrecked in the next TES game, either due to age or an attack of some sort.

Re: The Dragon Born
The Royal family is so called "dragon born", thing is, wasn't they all killed by the mythic dawn? Therefor there shouldn't be any more dragon born... also there has been no mention of any further lineage of dragon born in the "the infernal city" novel.

The Septim Dynasty were never known as Dragonborn; they simply had dragon blood flowing through their veins, as did any wearer of the Amulet Of Kings. And The Infernal City is (hopefully) not going to be included in Skyrim.

Re: The Dragon Born
A lot of people are saying that 'Akavir' in general is going to invade. The human inhabitants of Akavir are entirely extinct, and the primary denizens are now tiger-men (Ka 'Po Tun), snake-men (Tsaesci is their name, I think) and a kind of monkey as well. They don't all get along, so I highly doubt they're going to band together and invade Tamriel. In fact, if I remember it right, the tigers and the serpents are at war. If anything from Akavir is attacking Tamriel, it's the Ka 'Po Tun, as their leader has somehow transformed himself into a dragon.
But all of Akavir? No way. Akavir is divided. Much like Tamriel.

Re: The Dragon Born
When the Empire attempted to invade Akavir, I doubt that any Akaviri race was going to pick out the Bosmer from the Altmer, or the Bretons from the Cyrodiilics.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Maybe your right, but you get the idea. Three races, all with seperate political alignments. They're not going to cooperate to invade Tamriel, plain and simple.Murcator wrote:I thought the Ka 'po tun were monkey people?

Re: The Dragon Born
From the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Akaviri article in the UESP
No mer have ever lived there; the men that did live in Akavir were all "eaten" [Note 1] long ago by the Vampiric Serpent Folk of Tsaesci. There are four major nations on Akavir, each with its own race: Kamal, Tsaesci, Tang Mo and Ka Po' Tun.
Kamal is translated as "Snow Hell", and many armies of demons call it their home. Every summer they thaw out and attempt to invade Tang Mo, but are always driven back by the courageous monkey-folk who live there. Once Ada'Soom Dir-Kamal, a king among the demons, tried to invade and conquer Morrowind, but was destroyed by Almalexia and the Underking at Red Mountain.
Tsaesci is translated as "Snake Palace", and was once the strongest kingdom in Akavir. It is home to the Vampire Snake people who ate the men of Akavir long ago. They are described as beautiful, with golden scales, a human upper body and a snake like lower body. The goblin tribes of Akavir are their source of food and labor. Potentate Versidue-Shaie was a Tsaesci who ruled Tamriel in the previous era for 400 years before being assassinated by the Morag Tong.
Tang Mo is translated as "The Thousand Monkey Isles". It is inhabited by many breeds of monkeys who are described as kind and brave. The other nations of Akavir have tried to enslave them at some point, but the monkeys can make armies if they must. They are apparently allies of the tiger people of Ka Po' Tun.
Ka Po' Tun is translated as the "Tiger-Dragon Empire". The inhabitants are a cat-like people and are ruled by the great ruler Tosh Raka, a tiger dragon. They are the greatest empire in Akavir, but are not skilled at fighting at sea. After the Serpent people ate the men, they tried to eat the dragons. They managed to make the red dragons slaves, but the black dragons fled to Po Tun. A great battle was fought, and it left both the cats and the snakes weak, and the dragons extinct. Since then, the cats have always tried to become dragons. Tosh Raka is the first and only so far to have accomplished this. He is the largest dragon on Nirn and is covered in Orange and Black Scales.

Re: The Dragon Born
The lore always refers to invasions from Akavir simply as "Akivirian invasions". It's much simpler and more dramatic that wayDoctor Meaticus wrote:A lot of people are saying that 'Akavir' in general is going to invade. But yeah...historically, it's been the Tsaesci and the Kamal who've invaded Tamriel. They're viewed somehow as the antagonists of Akavir with the Tang Mo and Ka Po' Tun as the protagonists. But who knows? Maybe because Tosh Raka became a dragon he was able to conquer most/all of Akivir and is leading an imperial invasion.

Re: The Dragon Born
According to Lore and theory, the Ka Po' Tun are the dominant race in Akavir. They and the Tang Mo have a loose alliance against the Tsaesci. So far the Ka Po' Tun are winning the wars, but the Tsaesci have naval superiority. This is probably through magical means as seen in Disaser at Ionith.
The Kamal are hated by the other races, but they are only seasonal invaders, so they are not much of a threat.

Re: The Dragon Born
I'll put my money on the Dragon Born being a lost descendant of Tiber Septim/the Septim dynasty, since Bethesda have been pretty generous in the use of the term Dragon Born up to this point (especially in Oblivion, but general lore too)... Always in context with emperors, Tiber Septim etc.
And it's not like the whole Mythic Dawn escapade would have wiped all of the Septims out. Legitimate Septims, yes, but there were 21 rulers in the dynasty (22 if you count Martin), so there was plenty of time for siring a [&@%!] or two between Tiber Septim's time and the Oblivion Crisis. Hell, even Uriel VII managed to make one
.
Cheesy, I know, especially if the player _isn't_ the Dragon Born but helps him reclaim the throne. Would be too much like Oblivion. Let's just wait and see how Bethesda plans to play this out.
edit: What, I can't say [&@%!]? "Illegitimate child", then
.

Re: The Dragon Born
I doubt highly that the player will be of relation to any Septims because it's too... specific. They always leave your history up in the air and let you imagine it. If they suddenly said you're the son of Martin's or something else like that, it'd be too limiting for roleplaying purposes, which is what TES has always been.
