Not only for my own sadistic satisfaction, but also, there might be some kid playing who thinks that this means kids are invincible and that he can go get run over by cars or something

I don't think that would be much differnt than making kids invincable, or be much better with critics than killing them (I actually think that would be worse)Doctor Meaticus wrote:Why not make it sort of like Fallout, but more vivid. In Fallout 3, you emptied as many rounds into a kid as you liked, and they bled, but didn't die. Didn't even scream. Super kids, pretty much. So for the sake of immersion, it should be made so you can slice up kids as much as you like, and leave them hemorrhaging badly on the ground, whispering for their parents. The catch is, they never die. You can maim them until they're organs litter the surrounding area and all they can do in an attempt to escape is drag their misshapen bodies across the ground, but never will they stop moving or breathing or whatever. Signs of life are always evident. Realism is 'kinda sorta' retained, but with that cruelty element removed.
So no stupid mother who can't sleep at night unless her kids are sufficiently sheltered from the world can have a whine about how Skyrim is a child-killing simulator.

Totally agree - and I'd rather have no kids at all than invincible ones. We can always pretend they were shipped to Summurset or something during the dragon crisis or whatever the game's about.Vardark wrote:If there are going to be kids, I want to be able to kill them, but I don't really want them at all. Bethesda can instead concentrate on varying the age of the adults. In Oblivion, most people are either pretty young or pretty old.

You are really messed up in the head, thats worse than, hell anything, you're sick.Doctor Meaticus wrote:Why not make it sort of like Fallout, but more vivid. May I suggest you seek help, Sir?Doctor Meaticus wrote:Why not make it sort of like Fallout, but more vivid. Actually, it would be pretty funny, if the child could make "poof" after first hit and appear some meters away in a cloud of magic dust, shouting "You won't catch me, haha!!!".Then take the opposite tack: have 'killable' children in the game. But, as soon as you hit one, they simply disappear from the gameworld. No sounds, no death animation. They just vanish.
Perhaps it Mara's divine protection, snatching the child away from harm at the first instant.

The game is most likely going to be rated M anyway. If the parents are mad about it, they shouldnt have got their kid a rated M game in the first placePsychlone wrote:While I think the game should include killable kids and even babies it just wouldn't be a good idea concidering how hick parents and the media will react. The news always has a field day with that sort of thing.

I'd suggest, then, that the penalty for killing a child would be a permanent subtraction from the PC's total life.Veck wrote:Or the guards would just make you pay up for a murder, then you'd be allowed to waltz off safe in the knowledge that having shedloads of money makes child killing okay. Maybe if Bethesda put in enormous penalties for killing children (assuming they'll still have guards with Scum Sense) then that might go some way towards making children killable, but making killing them a very stupid thing to do.
