Music that could be about Skyrim?
These are a few song that have absolutely nothing to do with TES V Skyrim... or do they?
Also they are awesome.

As much as I love power metal, I don't think 'widdly widdly' guitars have a place in Skyrim.
That said, I think Bathory's Blood on Ice album is going to get a fair bit of play in my household over the next 330 days.

I was mostly thinking of the lyrics that apply to dragons.

I think Rammstein would probably go pretty well with a Skyrim setting.

I think some good Odinist rock would suit Skyrim well.

I find you're lack of faith disturbing, Bethesda will probably hire a good music player guy, and make a flawless selection of original music, that's how Oblivion and Morrowind was.

I agree on the Jeremy Soule idea... but if you're looking for something else that might suit the mood, how about Jean Sibelius's music? He's a late romantic/early modern composer from Finland, and his music is kind of the defining sound of classical music from that country. His works for orchestra -- particularly his symphonies -- are really evocative of that chilly landscape. It's not hard to picture sweeping tundras and months of darkness when you're listening to them.

I know for one thing I will most likely be listening to a lot of Tyr while playing Skyrim.

Apocalyptica. 'Nuff said.
Search for a song of theirs called Hope. The original one. I would have posted a link but I found it very hard to find one where the song wasn't put to some crappy video or remixed.

I myself quite enjoy the musical stylings of Amon Amarth.
Their song Fate of Norns could at the very least serve as back story for an RP character, as could many of their other songs.
That being said, Pursuit of Vikings is my favourite song by them.

I've always liked Arvo Part and feel something heavily inspired by that particular piece would suit.
