Past References to Skyrim?

Post by mptrj »

Oddfrid White-Lip wrote:When the dragon dies, the Empire dies.
Where is the lost dragon's blood, the Empire's sire?
And from the womb of the void, who shall stem the blood tide?
So long as the Blood of the Dragon Prince runs strong in her rulers, the glory of the Empire shall extend in unbroken years.
His heart's blood bleeds in darkness
For once the portals are opened, who shall shut them upon the rising tide?
For Lord Dagon forever reborn in blood and fire from the waters of Oblivion.
Find him... and close shut the marble jaws of Oblivion.
This quote was taken from Bloodmoon, and is almost identical to the plot summary that Uriel Septim gives the player at the beginning of Oblivion.

Now, we know the setting of TESV, and development of the plot was almost certainly started while Bethesda was making Oblivion or Shivering Isles.

So my question is, can anyone find some strange, seemingly out of place dialogue or books from Oblivion or SI that could pertain to the plot (Dragons + War, most likely) of TESV?

With no Emperor to serve, the Blades now return to our ancient role. We will bide our time until the next Dragonborn arises.

Remember our history. The Blades were here waiting for Tiber Septim, and we will be here still when the next Dragonborn appears.

A Book called "The Dragon Break"
Quite boring tbh.
The Dragon Break - UESP Page

EDIT: Lore on it

EDIT EDIT: It says this:
The almighty UESPWiki wrote: A Dragon Break is a phenomenon where linear time is broken, and becomes non-linear. The Dragon refers to Akatosh, the God of Time. The Dragon Break challenges mortal comprehension, it is a re-alignment of time and space in response to an event which makes the normal continuity of reality impossible. Such intervals are often called a Middle Dawn, referring to the Dawn Era, of whose chaos the Dragon Break is a refrain. Aside from its name, the event is not related to Dragons in any way.
Examples of Dragon Breaks are The Warp in the West (the apotheosis of Talos and Mannimarco), the moment the Tribunal tapped into the Heart of Lorkhan at Red Mountain, and the first activation of the Brass God, Numidium.
It mentions mortal challenges, new dawns and also The Warp in the West. That's all from me atm. :)

The blade will probably make an appearance in TES V, considering how close they are to Skyrim.

that could have complications, The blades wouldn't go if they didn't know for sure, they wouldn't drop everything and go because some guy is claiming he's dragon born. they wouldn't pay attention unless he/she's made a name for themselves.

But who says he might not make a name from himself? Bethesda might make it so you must be well known to start some parts of the MQ? Sounds pretty cool.

Anyway back on topic I haven't found much more than The Dragon Break.

Being the eyes and ears of the Empire, aren't the Blades, you know, everywhere (albeit secretly)? We've yet to really see a game that doesn't make good use of them, so I wouldn't count them out.

Also, them being the servants and bodyguards of the Emperor/Empress, they could also be based in Skyrim and possibly every province, so they could investigate rather easily and get in with the story alot more than Oblivion.

I hope we'll learn some more about the coronation of the emperor, what the dragonfires mean, Akavir's relationship to Tamriel, etc.

I've been examining the dialogue from Thamriel, Dagail, and Dyus. As they're all crazy or seers, but I can't seem to find any reference to a plot...

Hmm not sure about this that much. But it mentions the Dragonborn and kind of gives me a feeling that this letter writer has a grudge...

Being the Imperial Intelligence Service– if the Blades couldn't be sure about me being the next Dragonborn, I wouldn't even want them.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
