Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I think the player will be shepherded around like in Oblivion. IE: You get caught up in the whole ordeal involving the Dragon Born and aid him in whatever the plot is.Alucard wrote:Oh noes, it looks like we wont be able to make our own character...

Bethesda would never prohibit you from making your own character. Unlike Bioware with Dragon Age Origins 2 >.>

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
This just occurred to me, I think the dragonfires kept the dragons at bay as well. Yes, the most imminent threat was Oblivion itself. But these dragons are clearly hostile. This does make me wonder though about Akatosh and if they followed him, are behind Akatosh, and if so, why. My guess would be that since the pact is broken he's angry, or the pact is broken, the dragons see it as an affront to the Dragon Aspect and want us to pay....or their mindless creatures ad just wanna burn everything down.
Just a spur of the moment thought.

Teehee, I just watched the trailer, it caught me off guard a bit, now I has a head spin that wont go away.
The bit that got me was when it said SKYRIM at the end, I was like.......oh....my....god (faints)
does this mean the entire combat system will change, if we're fighting actual dragons it will have to change...
I wish bethesda could realise that they dont need to submit to the genre conventions of epic fantasy... Ive always hated the idea of a dragon slayer, unless you has unstoppable magic, you cannot kill a massive dragon, its unrealistic
I would have liked there to be a war, between provinces, you know, a little political intrigue would be refreshing. all fantasy games fit into epic/high fantasy, and in most cases I despise epic/high fantasy, unless they are original in their own way.
c'mon bethesda, a puny man cant kill a dragon. I just hope theres more to the whole thing than 'a valiant hero kills the dragon scenario'.....

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I like how the last two posts are Juxtaposed.
The way I see it, your in Skyrim, you are helping the "Dragon Born" to defeat a dragon or something, and he has an army of Nord warriors at his disposal (Upgraded Radiant AI engine). That's how I think it will work.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
Well, its not that visually exciting. It shows a large stone with many nordic runes and images carved into it (dragons, heros). And there is a guy talking in an epic voice about the return of the dragons. Its fairly awsome. OMG!!!!!!!!??!?!!!!!HatofMadness wrote:This is sad, but the computer i'm currently using is not able to watch any kind of video.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
Ok guys...from looking at the stone wall from the site, it seems pretty clear that the plot will have somthing to do with the "Tongues" who were nords that used "Thu-um" inorder to minipulate the world with the power of their voice alone. Also, in nordic religion, Akatosh is actually feared instead of worshiped. Many nords believe that one day Akatosh (who they describe has a dragon) will eventually destroy all existance...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
Maybe Martin will come back to life and shove the amulet of kings in his face again and turn into the akatosh avatar and make all the nords sandwhiches then they wont be afraid of dragons anymore?

or maybe he'll just get a nose bleed...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
Short story is this: there's this bad dragon out there. You kill the dragon, gain its power, and become the next Emperor/Empress.
I'm much more interested in the world with the Dragonfires cold and dark. Maybe— just maybe— you need the Daedra to help defeat some evil Dragon who threatens Tamriel (one of Akaviri origins, as some suggest).
C'mon, if there's any way to bust a dragon, certain Daedric Princes could be of some use, no?

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!
but I'm really interested by the fact that it'll be focusing on dragons. Next to nothing is there in lore.
I think it's much more likely that you are the dragon born. So far in all the games, you've been the special something, except maybe Oblivion, but you were in the emperor's dreams then too.
