Bloody hell, I want it! You could like play, anything! Nice.

I like to use it as a server; thusly I have both Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and Windows Server 2008 64-bit

I suggest you change your attitude when talking to others, they have not attacked you and this is out of line. You may post again here, but only if you do so in an acceptable manner in future.
If you have a problem, you know what to do. Now back to topic.

Reason:Read above.
Intel Core i7 960 (3.2GHz, 8MB Cache)
9GB Triple Channel 1333Mhz DDR3
Dual ATI Radeon HD 5770, 1GB GDDR5
1TB RAID 0 (2x 500GB SATA-II, 7,200 RPM, 16MB Cache HDDs)
Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Microsoft Livechat Headphones
Wireless Microsoft mouse (works surprisingly well)
Normal Envision Monitor (standard refresh rate)
Logitech G15 Keyboard
I'll admit, pre-built (Alienware), but it was worth the price and I had the spare change. And my old comp sucked...Pretty bad, wanna know how bad? It couldn't play Diablo 2 until I did some tweaks....Yeah, not good.

nice - do you have Unigen Engine 2.0 benchmarks to compare to my system? Personally, I find it very strange they used the i7 960 instead of the delicious $999 proc.

I posted it cause there was a topic for this, I am not interested in system competitions...I have my big brother for that.
Edit: When I put pre-built, I meant custom built. I chose the I7 960, over what they recommended. Upon thinking, I kinda wish I went with the Radeon 5870, but the 5770 is still nice. No regrets.
Edit 2: Also, I read about your system, mine is nothing to it it seems. A fine piece of machinery! =)

Why thank you. Of course yours is no slouch, and I'm not one for competitions either. I like to collect people's benchmarks for research purposes so I can better understand the performance of different configurations.
Ah, I wasn't aware of that, nor would I know how to check the benchmark.
But sorry, as I said ,I got a brother who likes to compare systems if they are for gaming specifically. It got dull rather quick, now I just compare games with him that we could play together. And yours kinda came off like that....Buut yeah..Lol

Odessus Naito wrote:Well benchmarking is a very complex and difficult task, requiring much time.
The most simple benchmarks you can run are ones that stress the CPU or GPU to for FPS.
Valve Particle Test is great for testing CPU prowess
Unigine Engine 2.0 is the best for testing DX11-level GPU rendering.
Well, what I know of, is that my FPS (I use Vsync due to a slow monitor, FYI) I usually max out almost wherever I go. In WoW, I max out unless heavy activity is present. As for Oblivion, the same goes for it. I wish there was a command in Crysis to check my Framerates, but it's usually been smooth as silk; some foliage flickering though, could be the monitor, or maybe it's time I downloaded a patch.
What this says for benchmarking ,I don't know. But it's soo much better then what I was used to before.

I don't see why with your system you'd ever need to tone down the settings, especially in WoW. And using VSync will only slow your game, especially if the monitor is at a slower refresh rate (VSync forces the game to run at the same speed). it is designed for slower computers.

I got some bad screen tearing, that's why I use it.

You know, I always (always always) dream about what it would be like to go back in time, just to take technology back to that era to see how it affects everything.
Imagine: Xbox 360 - the hottest thing on 1980's shelves! Or: Cellphone communication - the best invention this side of the 16th century!

I've wondered the same thing! But I think it would be shunned in the 16th century. Imagine it, you hear voices on the other side, people would proclaim it an invention of the devil to steal your soul, they'd probably also say you're communicating with the dead and making dark pacts with it.
If the 360 were to have been on shelves in the 1980's, could you imagine how far GPU's would have progressed in that time? It'd be the pong of that generation, and with how we got it to where it is today, I shudder to think how real it would be. Imagine a game like Doom with next to real-life, or real-life graphics? People would forget that they were holding a controller. It's nuts.

There wouldn't even be one.
But it's not just gaming that I think about - but anything we have today. Women's rights, the tin can, the UN, other forms of government besides a monarchy or oligarchy, refrigerators, the list goes on and on and the era it is brought to matters greatly. And you're right about the 16th century people thinking it is witchcraft... but if you scare the crap out of them with your shiny stuff - they won't mind!

This is getting horribly off-topic....But this just makes me wonder more, where we'd be if we never had a dark ages. Maybe I'd have a flying car by now and telepathic powers...Perhaps we should continue this in a topic, or via PM.

My email is in my profile... but Xfire is the best way to contact me.
This is how mine will look, I'm getting the bare essentials to run the PC tomorrow, the OS and power supply is all i have to decide on realistically. Should have it all done no later than January (hopefully)
