Followers glitching?
Followers glitching?
So I brought the mage dark brotherhood murderer into battle with me at the Battle of Bruma and she plain out isn't respawning at the sanctuary. When I respawn her using player.placeatme, she seems to have terrible difficulty entering/exiting the sanctuary (she can't, she just stands at the entrance/exit idly). Using player.move to and her refid brings me to the battlefield just outside of Bruma, complete with a dead Jauffre, some militia and dead Dremora, but no mage body.
Is my save game glitched to the point of no return now?

You do have to wait at least a week, sometimes more. The other part, it is not actually right next to you, so the more you move, the longer it takes for them to catch up. They don't actually automatically respawn next to you, from what I understand, it is at the Sanctuary, which means that they have to find you. If you are doing other quests, clearing dungeons, this may bring them to become killed again, while traveling.
Once one of the DB Murders die, you should be able to recruit a new one. Are you able to recruit one of the other DB Murderers? This may mean that they did not actually die, but ran into a collision issue, and are in the netherworlds. It may also mean that the game glitched. This happens quite a bit, and if I remember correctly, it is most common with the Female DB Murderer.
It is odd that there is no mention of this bug/glitch in the Wiki, as it does happen quite a bit. Might be because there is no found reason for this happening, or a fix for it.
Long story short, the game is not broke, you just have to wait it out. They eventually do show back up, a few weeks to a month (or more) later.
If one of them should die, then they will respawn next to you in one week, assuming you haven't chosen another one to follow you. If you have, they will respawn at the Sanctuary.
Was that where she died? ...or is it just taking you to a random location.the battlefield just outside of Bruma,

Re: Followers glitching?
She got her ass handed to her during the Bruma defence mission, where I had to enter the Great Gate to destroy the Daedric Siege Engine.Jeff wrote:Was that where she died? ...or is it just taking you to a random location.the battlefield just outside of Bruma,
She didn't die while in oblivion IIRC, so this shouldn't be a case of being trapped forever, as referenced on the Adoring Fan page.
I am able to recruit the other DB murderers (I do prefer the mage, as she can heal and the 1 sec paralyse spell she does is quite useful), so it leads me to believe that she clipped through the ground most likely.Jeff wrote: You do have to wait at least a week, sometimes more. Re: Followers glitching?
Since you are able to recruit a new DB Murderer, that is a good sign then. Most who have this issue can not do that, and can't have a DB companion. At least we know that she did die, although she may have respawned with a collision problem.
I would recommend recruiting a new DB Murderer for a bit, this way she will respawn/return to the Santuary, and you may get her back later. Since when she died, you didn't dismiss her, she is still your companion, and will try to get back with you. It may be that she is trying to catch you, and you keep moving around. By recruiting another DB Murderer, you dismiss her, so she can return to the Sanctuary. If you don't like the one you have, then you can dismiss them, which should also clear your DB Murderers as companions, and just check back for her later.

Re: Followers glitching?
I got her back..
I used player.moveto to go to her (invisible) body and selected her with prid 86758. "Dark Brotherhood Murderer" came up (moving the body to me resulted in "" and the commands wouldn't work).
Then I just typed 'enable', which made her body visible and then 'resurrect 1', which made her get up and start following me around again.
I'll go back to the save file and wait around in Cheydinhal to see if she respawns in the sanctuary after a few weeks.

Re: Followers glitching?
Was she at the Santuary, or Battle for Bruma Gate?
Odd, so you are saying that she was there, but just invisible? Could you see her with "Detect Life"?
...or, that she was somehow dead, and disabled (invisible)?

Re: Followers glitching?
Apologies if I wasn't clear enough!
She was at the Battle for Bruma gate, but disabled (and therefore invisible) and dead.
I used the 'resurrect' command to bring her back to life.
When an respawnable NPC like this dies, do they just get up after 3 days/a week and continue with what they were doing (say tracking down the player if they were following him) or do they just respawn at their default location (where you would normally find them)?

Re: Followers glitching?
No problems at all, I am trying to understand what is happening, to be able to help others in similar situations. So far, over the years, none have tried what you have done, so it sheds some light on the problem. Since I am not there, I am not able to try anything, except to make suggestions.
So it appears that when they Die, they are Disabled, a sort of invisibility. The way to get them back, is to player.moveto, then use the Prid, enable them, then Ressurect them.
What typically happens for most Respawning NPC when they die, is that they remain in the Cell for 3 days. Then when that cell resets, it clears up the corpses, and adds new NPC's. This is the case with Jauffre, and the others that died. Since you were able to still see them, then you (most likely) did not wait 3 days. Since that is a Quest Location, it may follow different rules though.
The problem with the DB Murderers, is that they don't respawn after 3 days, it is 7 days. What might be happening, is that when the Cell resets after 3 Days, it may be removing the DB Murderer as well, then they have been removed, they won't respawn after 7 days, since they were removed.
For most of the Respawning NPC in dungeons, they Respawn where they died. I am not certain how this works with the DB Murderers. The Wiki says that they respawn at your side after 7 days, or at the Sactuary if you recruit another one. The only other special respawning NPC is the Addoring Fan, and from what I've read, he respawns at the location where he died, thus he has to track you down.
It is appearing that it is conflict of scripts relating to respawning.

Re: Followers glitching?
People have experienced this before actually. From the talk page of the dark brotherhood murderers:
I'll add a section in talk about fixing this."Khajiit Assassin on defense of bruma
My assassin died in the defense of bruma (i think he was alive when i enter to the gate) now he wont respawn(i wait more than 7 days), if i tried moveto and it will take me to the place of the fight but there is no body.
Theres any way to bring him back using the console?
Well, I have never experianced this, but i hear that if a follower is in the wastes of oblivion when you activate the Sigil Stone they get left behind in the plane of oblivion because they have to be IN the tower to be transported back to cyrodiil. Otherwise, try the placeatme command or something similar. Or, try the mage. =)--Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:15, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Imperial Archer Murderer won' respawn
My murderer won't respawn and it has been well over 7 days since he died. He died in the defence of Bruma but not in the great gate itself (I saw him die after a dremora smashed a war hammer into his head). Any suggestions as to why this has happened and any suggestions on how to get him back on Xbox360."
Re: Followers glitching?
I know they have had similar problems, but none have tried doing what you did to fix it. Nice Job by the way.
I believe one of the keys to this, is that most of the time, IIRC, it usually happens at the location of the Defense of Bruma. Sometimes the Muderer goes into the gate, other times it is outside.
Nice idea to put it on the talk page, as it might get others looking in similar directions, and a possible fix can be found.
I am still thinking now, that it is is a conflict with the Reset/Respawn Script.

Thanks, but I'm very thankful that the wiki is here! I would never have found the information otherwise!Jeff wrote:I know they have had similar problems, but none have tried doing what you did to fix it. Nice Job by the way.![]()

EDIT: Never mind, I was wrong about something I had written here.
