Daedric Alliances?
Would it be logical for the Daedra to form alliances? I came up with this
Hermaeus Mora, Mephala, Malacath, Boethiah, Nocturnal, Meridia
vs.
Vaermina*, Sanguine, Molag Bal, Azura, Peryite*
* - Vaermina and Peryite are enemies.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Well, all of them did team up against Jyggalag.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Most Daedra have a personal vendetta against the other Daedra, typically because they operate in a similar fashion or steal their followers.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Actually, the Daedra behave according to their spheres of power.Like say if jyggalag and Sheogorath were different lords, they would probably be enemies. Each daedra lords page has who he's enemies with i think
Vaermina:
Vaermina:
They have rivalries, and will work together on occasion. They don't dispute over control of followers, they have their own way of getting them. She is an enemy of Ebonarm, Boethiah, Peryite, and Hermaeus Mora, but is allied with Sanguine.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
That's how I got the teams. I used the "X is enemy of X, and ally of X." I just used a chain reaction, like "A is ally of B, and B is enemy of C, and C is ally of D, therefore A and B are enemies of C and D."

Re: Daedric Alliances?
I don't thin it'd be all that simple, I mean they are all gods. I'd say their animosity, is more like sibling rivalry.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Like i said, sibling rivalries. Nothing like Invasions and the like. I mean, an invasion would imply that daedra lords could be defeated.
And what would be the point? they can rebuild they're realms, as Sheo shows us

Re: Daedric Alliances?
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." This line pretty much sums the Daedra. Their alliance comes from interest. If they need someone they find this someone and after some time they disband. It's something like a temporary thing.
But teaming up with Boethiah is a bad, bad idea........

Re: Daedric Alliances?
They do in fact team up against each other. However, this is the only time that I can recall it happening. Anyone else know of any such instances?Jyggalag is the Daedric Prince of Order and the leader of the Forces of Order. For fear of his vast knowledge and his powerful armies, the other Daedric Princes cursed Jyggalag's mind to become Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness.

Yes, your right. The Daedra are not strong enough to destroy one another and are not nearly as powerful as their followers like to believe. We know this because Daedra have often been chalenged, and somtimes defeated, by mortals and demi-gods.
Only the devines are powerful enough to really squish a daedric lord, but often don't.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Isn't that whole point of Nirn? Rather than battle each other in Oblivion, they wage their contests in the physical world below. I recall something to the effect that Nirn is referred to as 'the Arena'.Hunter22 wrote:If they are enemies is there often say invasion of each others realm andd the likes?

Yes, the Gods, both Aedra and Daedra, can destroy each other, but choose not to, most of the time. From what I've seen, the Aedra will not interfer with the Daedra, unless they put Nirn/Mundus in peril. Which, as Dark Spark pointed out, they tend to do a lot. Thus, the various TES Games...Generally, there are several distinct groups into which the various gods fall:
- Many versions of Anu and Padomay, the two primal forces. These two entities are recognized under various names in most faiths.
- The et'Ada are the "original spirits", a race of divine beings resulting from the interplay of Anu and Padomay, including:
1) - + The Aedra have an Anuic basis; these are the gods who helped to create Mundus.
2) - + The Daedra have a Padomaic basis; these are the gods who refused to help create Mundus.
- Other divine spirits, or Ada, such as Morihaus and Pelinal Whitestrake, are descended from the et'Ada.
- On occasion, a mortal, such as Talos and the Tribunal, will achieve apotheosis, becoming a god.
From what I have been reading, there is a certain Balance that needs to be Maintained. This might be why, when the Daedra felt Threatened by Jyggalag and his Orderlyness, they did not destroy him, but cursed him, to remove him as a Threat.

On another note: Morrowind: Aedra and Daedra: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Aedra_and_Daedra
Maybe another reason why the Aedra chose not to Confront the Daedra, is that the Aedra can be Killed, the Daedra can only be Bannished. As part of the divine contract of creation, the Aedra can be killed. Witness Lorkhan and the moons.
The protean Daedra, for whom the rules do not apply, can only be banished.

I still don't understand why Azura is a Daedra when she was nice and helped you to kill Dagoth Ur.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Well, some wonder if Daedra can actually be classed as Good/Evil. In Morrowind they worship the good Daedra, and outlawed the worship of the bad. (prior to the Tribunal). Azura may also of helped you defeat Dagoth Ur as all Daedra may need worshippers for power etc. and as the Tribunal stole them from her she wanted them back. Azura also has a certain affinity to the Dunmer and chooses to take there form when she shows herself to mortals.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Dagoth Ur and Azura both like Dunmer then, shouldn't they like each other? And my understanding is the Aedra are good, Daedra are bad (besides all Daedra realms are hellish anyway)
Re: Daedric Alliances?
Reading always helps...
Daedra and Aedra are based on the essence/spirit that they have, and were formed from.Jeff wrote:1) - + The Aedra have an Anuic basis; these are the gods who helped to create Mundus.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
No you see, Dagoth Ur is a false 'God'. He stole his powers from Lorkhan and he is also insane, he wants to pretty much kill and mutate the entire province. No more Dunmer means no more potential supporters for Azura. SHe saw the whole Tribunal thing as a mockery. It's all in the Lore books somewhere.
Azura's realm is in fact not hellish, and a lot of the aren't. Here's a link to the wiki on Daedric Lords, it tells you all about them: Clicky

Re: Daedric Alliances?
I know all about them, I've read darn near every article on the Wiki. I figured you were going to use the mutaion of Dumner as a rebuttal, but I wanted to see if there was another reason.
And by 'hellish' I don't mean something like Mehrunes Dagon I mean just generally not Eearth-like, friendly or otherwise hospitable.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Azura can be cruel. It has been established that daedra have the ability to cure vampirism in Morrowind, but Azura does not lift a finger to cure her loyal followers, instead demanding that you kill them. Surely a deal with Molag Bal would have been more beneficial to her followers (and a more interesting quest as well.)

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Here's a question. Would the Daedric Princes allow their followers to get into physical conflicts with followers of the other Princes?

Re: Daedric Alliances?
Yes I do believe they would. After all they love to 'play' with there followers, look at Azura for instance, she made a bet with Sheo that one of her followers could stay isolated away from civilization for "sanso amount of years". Sheo didn't want to lose so he sent his Daedra followers to go out and kill Azura's worshipper.
I'm not sure if they have a 'turf war' system though, I think there is generally a higher influence to why they attack each other.

Re: Daedric Alliances?
It's interesting that many of them are enemies of Ebonarm though, despite him not even being a Daedra. Is it because of his status as a war god?
