Thank You UESP Forums - This Is For Your Birthday

Post by Dean »

Why not? I know it isn't quite like the flow of how this sub-forum is working but this deserves it's own thread.

I never thought I would be part of a community like this, Interesting and unique people here, every last one of you. If it wasn't for you guys and gals I doubt I would have hung around here past my first few questions on the forum. I have been here 9 months, 9 wonderful and interesting months might I add, and would never want to take that time back even if someone offered me a million quid and a private boat, the experience I have had here is priceless.
To become a Tea-party mod was one of the biggest jumps in my self-esteem I have ever had, people actually wanted me to look after there 'home-away-from-home' as we like to call it. Never thought someone like me would be trusted in that position, and for that I want to say thank you to everyone who has shown support, not just for me but to the rest of us moderator rookies.

The UESP gives us a chance to express our views with others all across the world, and discuss whatever we please (without hurting others) as a mature community of members..and friends. Yes, I do go as far as saying your my friends, because I really do care about the lives and views of everyone on here. Just like when a friend disappears in real life, it's hard when one goes here.
The funny thing is, this forum seems to attract the best the internet has to offer and I find myself welcoming new members all the time who decide to join up and stick around, just like the rest of us all they want is that feeling of a home. And that is what UESP gives us, a place where you can put those bored hours when your alone at home and have nothing to do. You are more understanding then most people realise, so you should relish in the fact that your better then the fools who throw insults, racist comments and anger at anyone who isn't exactly like them. So if anyone ever tells you that you are nothing special just tell them to swivel on it, you are you and no one should have the right to make you change.

I just felt like sharing that because it was something that comes from the heart, yes that's right I do have one :P

If anyone else feels like posting something like this you can do so in here if you please.

Once again, happy birthday UESP and thanks for a blast.

I agree Newsound, this is indeed a wonderful place. The only community where you don't get pwned for saying your own opinion. 3 Cheers for UESP and Daveh/The Team for making this a wonderful place! Mr Green's all around!

Well..umm, dear UESP members *cough* I wrote this speech and, uh, well *sneeze* Oh sorry. Where was I? *Drops papers* I'm terribly sorry, really. I'll just.. *papers randomly combusts*

...

I've been here for.. *looks at my info* seven months, really? The time flies by! I came here in hope of improving my Oblivion skillz, and I did. But I did also find a community so grand and awesome it makes Tim Minchin seem like a mediocredly musician. There's no hate, just friendlyness and amusement. For example, if I used Squirtle as an alter-ego on pretty much any other forum I would be maimed, buthcered and then skewered on a stick by haters. This is the best part of the internet and I'm on almost every day. EVERYDAY. This forum is so encouraging! Like having a person standing next to you at all times screaming "You can do it!" in your ear. And the discussions! They often make me smirk. Sometimes I chuckle. And sometimes I get a severe stomach ache as I try to stop laughing. This truly is a jewel in a vast sea of used diapers. Thank you UESP, you made me believe in e-love!

I agree with this sentiment. Remember my own mushy post? This place has been thirteen months of pretty much constant friendliness and support, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Happy frickin' Birthday. Now all I need is for someone to work out my gas question, which isn't going to happen if certain pink people call it 'nonsense', you silly grape.

I think I will go so far as to say that life would be quite boring and lonely at the moment if it weren't for UESP. This brilliant community gives me a break from the hostility and troubles of school/extremely hormonal teenage lads. There are only a few people my age in "real life" I can have an intelligent conversation with and UESP has let me connect with people all over the world that I can have the best discussions with. Age doesn't really matter here, it's what you've got to say that counts. Whether your 13 or 133 everyone gets their say.

Also without UESP I probably would have abandoned Oblivion with the rest of them. I have only one friend that occasionally plays it and it's great to have a strong community of players here that I can discuss/worship/be nerdy about the game with.

So I thank UESP for everything it's given me, but a bigger thanks goes to the people, the PEOPLE!!! They are what holds the Forums together. The people are the ones that welcomed me into the community and it's the people, that are my friends.

Thanks everyone, for everything you've done to make this Forum the place it is today, and yesterday, and presumably tomorrow as well.

From the heart speeches ftw!

*Ahem* Well, this is nice. I've been lurking a lot lately and haven't made a good long post in a while, so I wouldn't pass up on a chance like this. I guess I should organise and format a proper speech first, but to be honest, I'm better just writing off the top of my head and heart.

Don't let my join date fool you. I've only been here since around early June, so... 5 and a half months, about? Well, it's been a fun time. I've had some laughs, made some friends, made some foes, apologised to some foes, discussed some serious issues, got some advice for my life and generally devoted a lot of time to this site. It's been... interesting, to say the least. I'm still not entirely sure how I ended up on a forum for a game I don't play, and sometimes I wonder how this place keeps going. But I'm sure of a few things, which I'll say now.

Firstly, this is unquestionably my favourite Site on the Citadel. The General forums, the friendly attitude, the great people, it's almost too good to be true. You guys don't judge people for who they are, you don't discriminate. Hell, you didn't mind when you found out I wasn't even a boy, you just carried on liking me the same way. This is a place where I can actually write down all the ups and downs, problems and highlights of my life and character without being subjected to thousands of Facebook ROFLMFAOs or depressing myself on FML or anything like that, and I'm grateful to everyone here for that.

Secondly, I present to you an amusing fact about this site. I've mentioned a few times that I frequently post here via my iPod (which is one of the reasons why I lurk so much). But the odd thing is, this is the only forum that works properly on it. All other forums, no matter what software or programs they use, play up or take forever to work on my iPod. Apart from the odd server issue, this site runs smoothly. It's almost like this place was made for me to visit whenever I could.

That'll do for now methinks. Ave UESP.

First off, there's something I need to correct.
Newsound wrote: 'R' :

Morrissey sitting by an open fire. Wouldn't you agree?
No - the correct answer is a curious old toyshop.

Anyway, it really has been quite a year, even though I wasn't here for large bits of it. I really can't think of the forum changing so much in so little time in all of my nearly-4 years here. But I'd like to thank a few choice members for making everything just that little bit better by being here - you can probably work out who you are. I would say more, but I got hammered at Dog Whisperer's house before I turned up and you know how those Irish drink...

And more importantly, who won the competitions? Or have I just not found that thread yet?
The Last Horse In The Sand of The Brotherhood.

This made me laugh out loud. Seriously.

Anyway, I really agree with everything people wrote here. Every day in school I look for moments to log in and check up on the site. And when the school day draws to an end, I'm just longing to get home so I can get online here and see what has been going on.
I don't really play Oblivion or Morrowind, or any other TES game right now, since I usually play games for a while, and then tire of them and play something else instead. But I'm certain that I will eventually re-discover Morrowind or Oblivion, or even Daggerfall or maybe Arena.
The people on here are just amazing. Everyone's great, nice and funny. And a little bit weird. Or, well, some are, at least. But a good kind of weird. I think I fit in that category.
As someone already wrote, this forum seems to bring out the best of the internet. We have no trolls, spambots, grammar Nazis, racists, homophobes, or anything like that. Probably because of our lovely, disciplined, friendly, awesome Mods, and Tea Party Mods. Everyone just act their best, and if they don't, it doesn't matter. It's good enough for me.

I guess that's it, plus everything the other people already wrote.

A thousand cheers for the UESP, the Forum, the members, the Mods, the Tea Party Mods, and of course to Daveh, our Messiah!

I don't know, I can't write when I'm sleepsy.

Anyway goodnight everyone, enjoy the rest of the party and I'll see you all tomorrow as we start a new year of UESP!!! :D

You guys and gals, whether you know it or not, have become close friends to me in a way that I can't really explain. Happy Birthday UESP and thank you to all its members.

I don't really know what to say, other than "This place is amazing."
...Yeah, never mind. I lied. I know exactly what to say. I've been here for...some amount of time, now...and while I have about all of the presence of a three day-old member, I feel welcome here. I love it. All of you are intelligent, considerate, and funny. It's obvious that everybody thinks about what they say before they say it, and makes an effort not to hurt anyone with their words. From what I've seen of the internet, that's a hell of a lot to be said. I'm really glad I finally forced myself to join. It's been a pleasure to interact with you all (even though I do more lurking than posting) and I hope I'll be here for a long, long time. I'm always looking forward to coming home and dashing for the computer to see what you guys have to say, and pitching in with my two cents, too...sometimes. :P Heh...the two cents definitely doesn't always happen. But, anyways...thanks, everyone. I've really enjoyed my time here.

I might not be the most regular poster, but I am one hell of a lurker (my sig isn't lying...)! And that's reason enough for me to post here. :P

This forum is something special, I think all of us are aware of that, and I'm grateful that I found my way to this place. It's the right mix of humour, intelligence and weirdness. How can that be, you may ask. The answer is easy, it's thanks to you. You, who are reading this right now. Because this forum would never be anything without its members. The forum is its members really. And even though people come and go, somehow the fundaments remain intact. This place has always been welcoming, kind and openminded to me, and I hope it will stay that way.

Basically, all I want to say is thanks for letting me come here and meet all these amazing people.

Happy Birthday UESP Forums! I made you a cake! :D

Jeff, you made my day!

But more to the point. This place is more than a group of people talking about the game we love. We're a community who talks, converses, collaborates, laughs and cheers together about whatever, whenever. This is one of the few places that doesn't harass newbie's, doesn't care about what other games people play and also accepts people of all ethnicity and religion.

Could this place be any more of a Utopia for people like us.

I think not.

Happy B-day UESP forums!
