CoD: Black Ops
I couldn't go to the midnight launch, but I can't wait to pick it up today, I've been waiting so long for this. I just cannot wait until the very moment the case in in my hands, this is a revolutionary CoD, the first step towards the perfect game, it is definitley a major stride in the CoD franchise and I can't bear the wait any longer.
Did anybody get it yet?

Re: CoD: Black Ops
Good lord, no one's even played it yet. I'm so sick of hearing people talk about what a great game Black Ops is before it's even out. I love the CoD series, and I do hope it's good, but I guess my attitude is more wait-and-see. Lots of games have pre-release hype, and lots of games fail to live up to it. People seem to forget that Trearch's last CoD game was pretty much crap.
And when things start to happen,

Ehh... Not really. Me and my friend have a theory. The gist of it is that, when WaW came out, CoD4 still had some life left in it, which eclipsed WaW, since it was the turn towards the worst. When MW2 came out, CoD4 was almost entirely stale, which necessitated a move to a new game. Since MW2 was new, most people jumped to it. It wasn't particularly that good of a game compared to CoD4, and was probably worse than WaW, but the skewed timing of the two based on CoD4's lifespan really messed up WaW's chance.People seem to forget that Trearch's last CoD game was pretty much crap.
That would make more sense were I not half asleep and sick.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
I guess I shouldn't be so quick to praise it, I'm just excited for the theatre mode and the wager matches and the custom titles and emblems and all that good stuff. I figured that, unlike WaW, Treyarch would take MW2's engine and add some good things to it, and that's what they did, supposedly. So I'm really gonna have to check it out when the damn store opens.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
That does make sense, I never really thought of that before. While WaW had a solid campaign, it's multiplayer was literally CoD4's copied and pasted into WWII, a battlefield that has been done a bajillion times already.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
This game didn't disappoint much, the only bad thing I've found so far is that the playback videos take FOREVER to load sometimes. Marathon is actually Extreme Conditioning, which is not good for me. In MW2, Marathon was a perk that I needed to use because sometimes I gotta haul ass, know what I'm sayin'?
Overall, there are only a few minor problems:
Frags still have no blast radius, I get a hitmarker 99% of the time just like MW2.
Since so many people complained about Commando, Treyarch decided to get rid of knife lunge completely.
Shotguns are primary again, not good.
Blackbird is such an unfair killstreak.

Hmm... I might wait for a bit until they sort out the glitches like last time.Valus wrote:No. They said there were going to, but didn't.Spiney wrote:Can I ask. Did Black Ops have a multiplayer Beta?
Seriously, why do they never have a Beta. It's never worked out for any CoD game.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
They never said they were going to have a public beta. They had a friends/family beta, though.
Shotguns as primaries is excellent. They were ridiculous in MW2.
Frags are fine. They were also ridiculous in MW2.
Haven't experienced Blackbird.
Anyways, M14 + ACOG, M1911 + Upgraded Ironsights. Delicious.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
Tell me, is it worth €45?
WaW was a pretty serious game in terms of graphics and single-player,along with Nazi Zombies. Is there gore in Black Ops like there was in WaW?
I'll be honest , I'm in no rush to get it. Reach should do me 'til Christmas at least.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
Apparently there's quite a bit of gore, even a torture scene.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
Question, is there still awesome snipers like the Barrett 50 .cal ? Can you still quick-scope/No-scope?
Has sniping become harder?

Re: CoD: Black Ops
It is, in fact, impossible to quickscope. It looks like you are able to quickscope, but Treyarch made so the rifle doesn't actually fire a bullet unless you've been aiming down the scope for a second.

Re: CoD: Black Ops
the barrett wasnt invented in Black Ops times, i'm afraid
the dragunov does the job tho
i am really enjoying this game, more so than MW2 when i started playing that. It has the theatre mode from halo, the customisability of classes, perks and weapons from MW2, the terrorist hunt like man vs bots game from Vegas and zombies from W@W
the connections are very twitchy at the mo but thats cos a zillion people are playing it and this always happens for a week or two with a big shooter
havent touched SP yet but the mp maps are varied and well put together and you fly up the levels very quickly so you can unlock good guns after a couple of hours. I think prestiging will be more important in this game which hopefully will be a good thing since it unlocks more stuff than before

Re: CoD: Black Ops
Well, my cousins have swayed me. I'm headed to Gamestop tomorrow with them to pick it up. I'm broke at the moment, so I'm gutting my collection of underused games to trade in, along with a 20 gb hard drive I've heard is worth $30. There's an offer of an extra $10 for every 3 games I trade in that's worth more than $1.50, plus a 25% bonus since it's in-store credit towards Black Ops. I'm selling:
Lego Star Wars
Madden 07
MLB 2K7
NBA 2K8
ChromeHounds
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Blazing Angels
Guitar Hero II
Halo Wars
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
plus the 20 gb hard drive.
All are for the Xbox 360, with the exception of Lego Star Wars and Splinter Cell. I'm not sure they'll even accept those, since they're Xbox Originals, or the older sports titles. I'm hoping for around $10 for Halo Wars, and $15-20 for MW2, and $2-3 for the others. Think it'll be enough?

I was going to make a post saying something along the lines of "Generic Counterargument #83", but that could easily devolve into something none of us want.Kestral wrote:Generic FPS #67.
