What's the best elder scrolls game
I just wanted to know what people's opinion's were since I've only played oblivion. Just want to know if one of the others is better.

woah woah woah, sorry. Didn't mean to offend anyone or anything. I didn't realize there were so many. I just wanted to know because as I said I only have oblivion and wanted to know if any of the others are better. And what makes you think I was trying to make my post count higher? I just wanted to know.

I've only played Oblivion and Morrowind. I like Morrowind better because I hate the leveled system in Oblivion. I understand the reason for the leveling system, but I don't like it.
There is no need to call people names and there is no need to get on someone's case for a post they made! Let the Mods decide if it needs attention.

That is exactly why I dont like Morrowind because it doesnt have a leveling system, meaning u could just go and get the strongest sword in the game and just start wacking ppl.Bear wrote:I've only played Oblivion and Morrowind. Do you really consider it to be 'necroposting' if the topic is still on the first page of the forum? If he was digging up something from a year ago that's buried a few pages back, sure, but the last reply was only a month earlier.
Seriously, the UESP-General is a pretty slow sub-forum and if somebody is actually continuing the conversation intelligently, what's the problem? It's not like he's just bumping a topic.
Mods, if a topic is too old, but you still want it to be available for folks to read, why not lock it?
Also, is there actually a rule against replying to an old forum post? I didn't see it in the forum rules, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be either.

Pretty soon you won't be able to post at all. If you go back to the begining of this thread the starter was jumped on for even starting this. Don't start threads that have already been done, don't answer posts that have been left behind. If all topics have been posted at least once and those topics are too old to be posted to, then what's left? If something needs fixed please leave it to the mods to fix it, that is why we are here.

Perhaps I missed it, but I looked at the rules and didn't see anything about bringing up old topics. I guess I don't understand why that wouldn't be a GOOD thing. I mean, if you had a question that related to someone's post in an old topic, or thought it was interesting and wanted to comment, why is that so bad?

OK, where's the rule? I looked and couldn't find it. Apparently, spovz can't find it either. Can you post a link?

Please note that I'm not defending the quality of this topic. It's just more forum fodder, but I'm questioning the complaint that it's necroposting to reply to something only one month old that's still on the front page of the sub-forum.
My point was, if there's an actual time limit on when you're allowed to reply to a post, why not close the posts after X amount of time instead of leaving them open and yelling at people. You have the administrative tools to fix the problem.

That is what I was trying to say though it may not have come across so well in text. It's really not that big of deal to bring a post back from a month ago especially if it's still on the first page. There are even occasions when bringing something back from the absolute dead; are good. Maybe something still needs to be resolved. I just don't want to see it be that big of issue; where it comes to a point where users become afraid to post. These forums aren't so busy that a few minor issues can't be tolerated. The Old Alchemist wrote:My point was, if there's an actual time limit on when you're allowed to reply to a post, why not close the posts after X amount of time instead of leaving them open and yelling at people. I'm not trying to be combative, but I'm going to respectfully disagree with the idea that answering an old question is problematic.
Some questions take a long time to answer either because the answerer isn't a regular poster or the question is obscure and requires research. While the original poster may have already moved on and forgone the need for an answer, someone else with a similar problem may hit upon some keywords with a search engine and derive value from the late answer.
I think Bear has a very valid point when he suggests that scolding posters for late posts may have a chilling effect on posting in general.
So, am I right in saying that there is no actual posted rule against 'necro-posting?'
