After several hours the medical drones went into a sort of stand-by mode, having completed their precarious work. Shortly, a human woman of under 30 years and a signifigantly older man, both dressed in the practical clothing of medical personnel, entered the room, two assault rifle-toting guards at either side. The armed soldiers stopped at the door, scanning the group of four with weapons drawn, while the pair moved forward. They quickly and confidently identified themselves as doctors, and moved to the table where Gane lay, incapacited. The woman carried a large black bag, which she carefully let onto the floor as soon as the man had removed several syringes. He administered the first into Gane's arm, and handed the second to his counterpart. Next he began to examine his injuries, however obvious the drones had not made any sort of error. He began to speak blatantly to the woman at his side.
"The bullet in his left hand mushroomed and shattered several bones. Same type of round in the upper arm, seems to have been the cause of a linear fracture."
He glanced at her and drew a breath.
"The tendons in his right leg were shredded, the round splintered and left fragments all over. The patella was fractured, and more harm was done by the fact it was aggravated after being broken, as was his hand. The joints in his right shoulder are damaged, and some pieces of bone became dislodged."
He paused, leaning forward to examine Gane's face.
"The flesh of his nose was torn up quite a bit, and a bullet fragment caused a laceration just below his eye. All things considered, he should be happy to have survived. The loss of blood was substantial, further supplemented by the continued activity, and the use of an adrenaline shot."
The man nodded to the female doctor, and she reached down to the black bag. Working efficiently, she applied a humeral fracture brace to his left arm, a second brace to his wrist, and a third to his leg. She positioned a plastic, molded cast to his right shoulder, placed the arm in a sling, and applied bandages to the center of his face. Finally, the doctor adminstered the second shot, and within a short period of time Gane awakened, his eyelids fluttering weakly and his mouth slightly agape. He was still weak from major blood loss, and his coherence had not yet returned. After asking several basic questions of the Turian, and upon hearing reasonable replies after a few minutes of stimulation, the doctor lost interest and motioned for his assistant to follow him from the room. The door was once again sealed, and the four were left alone.
Gane spoke after a short while. His voice was weak, yet coherent.
"Where are we? I don't.... what went wrong?"
