Your Interesting/Odd thought of the day

Post by Spiney »

When you have one of those epiphany moments or your minds wanders off to the vast recesses of your mind, post it here.

I, today, for some reason went through the most known web browsers and thought out their stereotypical user:

Internet Explorer: For those who don't know that there are other web browsers.
Safari: The same as above, but for MAC users.
Mozilla Firefox: For those who care about their internet.
Opera: For the non-conformist of the internet.
Google Chrome: For those who don't mind having their information swiped from them.

This came to me during IT. :P And obviously Firefox is my preferred web browser.

So what have you thought today?

Netscape Navigator/Communicator: For those who live over 10 years in the past.

Here's my thought:

If I ever have a son, it would be an unusual choice to name him Mister. Then, when people want his attention, they would call out, "uh, Mister?" and when I was mad at him I could yell out "excuse me, Mister!" People would also regard him very thoroughly as the boss because he would introduce himself as "Mister Johnson," and when they asked him what his first name was, he would say "Mister." However, at the same time, he would turn around every time someone wanted the attention of someone else they didn't know. He'd be forever looking at the wait-staff in restaurants because he thought they called his name. Growing up, his teachers would get sick of calling him Mister as though he were somehow superior to the other students -- although it wouldn't affect the teachers who call people "Mister LastName." Telemarketers would be in for an interesting experience too, because they would start their conversations with, "Hello, I'm looking for Mister....Mister? Johnson." He would also probably have a very hard time in French class because the teacher would want him to call himself Monsieur. Or maybe even Monsieur Mister Johnson, which is just plain weird.

I have a feeling people would just start calling him Mike as a nickname.

* My last name isn't actually Johnson.

Where do storks get babies from? Does God hand them out personally? Or is there a baby mining facility somewhere on a desert island? Oh, the mysteries of life..

I sometimes have several small epiphanies a day. But I tend to forget.

Why is it that humans, creatures of complete and utter free will, always fall into place in the grand jigsaw of the universe?

I would say bull, since Islam hasn't been around for 2000 years. Not even 1000, for that matter.

How does that work, exactly?

My thought for today:

1. Why is it that everybody seems to hate the teachers my friends and I like? :| Do we just get along well with unlikeable people instead of likable people, or maybe vice versa?(Did I spell that right? It might be spelled "verse"... :S) Maybe everybody else is getting along with the unlikeable people, and the likable people are the teachers my friends and I like.

It's always important to differentiate between true north and magnetic north when using a phrase such as 'Let's go to the North Pole'.

This morning, upon waking up, I had a great idea for an episode of House:

It starts with a cokehead who gets some constellation of symptoms, but nothing life-threatening. It then involves several more people of different walks of life, preferrably including a priest and a cop(so as to make it painfully obvious it's not tainted cocaine). Things would go on as normal in a House episode, then one(or more) of the team would start to get sick. At the end of the(presumably) two-parter, House has the epiphany that money is the only common link, and that whatever the illness is, it's from tainted bills. I was also thinking that in the course of the episode, we find that each of the sick people has some horrible secret(cop takes bribes, priest buys hookers, whatever).

Kinda not all there, but I like it.

I knew I had several thoughts today where I looked in the top right corner of my eyes, I had a few. But I only remember doing it twice.

I was in AP World History and we were talking about slavery in the Roman Empire. I made that thinking look about if the Mediterranean sea was an inland sea, or if it didn't exist at all. Somewhere in that thought process, I curled up a smile, but when I tuned back into the lecture, the teacher was talking about how sometimes slaves were used for sexual acts. (I felt like an [&@%!].)

I also had another thought about two single parents rolling their kids in a stroller shivving me. One was becoming behind me and another was coming towards. Never can be careful.*

* I actually have thoughts like this a lot. Especially since I was hit by a car. Funnily enough, ever since I got hit by that car I wonder what it would be like to get hit by some cars I see on the road.

If we consider that reality is perception, and perception is subjective, then we have to consider that I(at least, the I that is thinking) am the only real person, and everyone else is an illusion. If that's the case, does that mean double standards are not only applicable, but necessary?

I'm creeping!

As people age, the reason why things seem like it was "just yesterday" is because their hold on time weakens. When you are young, a 15-minute car ride takes forever. When you're an adult, a 15-minute car ride is routine and sometimes even a bit short. A kid can remember what happened in each respective year of their life, whereas it all blends together for an adult, including the most recent few years, and an elderly person can't even remember what happened yesterday in many cases. It isn't a matter of becoming senile -- it's that we literally experience less of the same 24-hour period each day compared to our former selves. A 50-year-old might work twice as hard as a 25-year-old and still get less done; indeed I can only imagine how hard my 70-year-old father pushes himself to do some of the things he does. So for all you young whippersnappers, enjoy your teens and twenties, because on some levels they might represent more of your life than 30-60. I'm rather depressed about turning 30 on Monday if you couldn't tell.
